"We liked Franciscan Village very much but we decided to wait a while. We went to see a separate house with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was very nice. We liked best that we had a separate house for ourselves. The lady who showed us the house, the rooms and the facilities was very nice. They had a PT space for the residents, too. "

"We chose Marian Village because of location, the 2-bedroom apartment available was very beautiful and of right size and it had a good location in the building, and we liked that we wouldn't have to cook anymore. We could have dinner there, but we have a full kitchen and we can cook if we want. The place is beautiful, well run, and very clean. The people are very friendly, and they have a lot of good activities, both on-site and offsite. It is a Catholic organization and it has a beautiful chapel, and we are Catholics. We were very well treated and the lunch we had was very good."

"We toured for my aunt and uncle, and I love this place for myself. They've probably been there three years. I like the newer models, the decor, and everything was new and more modern. They have those doors on wheels, they say they're on HDTV, they have the bathroom with the barn door, and it was beautiful. The staff who gave the tour was very, very nice. The facility itself is beautiful."

"Tinley Court is an exceptionally friendly community. The staff is exceptionally courteous, professional, caring, and concerned about the residents. Three meals a day areincluded. They have a registered nurse on the premises 24/7, and the doctor visits once a week. They are very friendly and supportive of veterans, and they allow smoking in a particular room outside. They have great food, and there are no down payments or community fee, just monthly fees. It is not modern and gorgeous, but it’s homey and lovely. The rooms are basically one size but without kitchenette. "

"We chose Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge for Dad because they take Medicaid. Everything seemed fine. It's clean. Ashley was fantastic. They have arts and crafts and games. They have a whole room with various activities. The eating area was clean, and the people seemed to be enjoying the food. The room that they showed me was very nice. I think my dad will be very happy there. They have physical therapy and other things that I think will be beneficial to him."

"Autumn Green is very nice. For the dependent senior, it is right. The staff was very nice. Everything was very nice. It's just it's not the right fit for my mother. It may, however, be a good fit for my aunt, who needs assisted living. I saw the exercise group, and I saw the fitness center. When I went, I saw them having lunch. I was able to see their community room. I thought it was an excellent location for people who need assisted living. I was impressed with it. It's a pretty nice area. It has its challenges, but I would feel safe in Autumn Green. "

"I felt that this facility provided excellent care and each resident had their own room and bath. I felt the price range was extremely high and out of range for many people. It also seemed like they had a base price and then there were a lot additions tacked on that to make it even higher. I would place my husband in this facility if I could afford it. "

"I have toured Cantata Adult Life Services. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very strong on marketing. For the most part, the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The room's layout was ok and the size was about average, but for my needs, it felt small. I saw some residents playing cards, they have an exercise area for the residents which was positive, they also have a library and some attractive common spaces for gatherings. The outdoor area looks nice, but the facilities themselves need more updating for accessibility, particularly. "

"We're presently in StoryPoint Romeoville. What I like most is the silliness of the staff. They're friendly. We have a one-bedroom apartment with a bathroom. We don't have a kitchen. We have a microwave oven and a small refrigerator. The food is outstanding because I can order what I want. I participate in bingo. They have various musicians come in throughout the week. They have all kinds of programs, but I don't get involved in all of them. The people who live here seem to be very nice, too."

"We have chosen The Sheridan at Oak Brook because it was a rental versus a buy-in. It was brand new. It was a year old, and it was 15 minutes from my children. There are one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms. They have an exercise room and a theater room. They have PT, OT, and speech. They have a primary doctor on call. They have an audiologist, and they had several different doctors that come in weekly. They also have an art room. It was very, very luxurious and very pretty. Outside, there's an area that overlooks a pond, and it has a mile to walk around. It's a heated and air-conditioned garage. During the winter, you can walk in the underground garage. There were four people that I interacted with, and they were lovely."

"I liked Sunrise Villa Olympia Fields. It was really good. I thought that the staff was nice. I spoke to quite a few staff members there as I toured with the lady. She was very interactive with the staff and the residents as she walked me around and toured me. I spoke to a couple of residents and to a couple of staff and that's a good facility. It was clean and very well-kept. The residents seemed to be enjoying themselves. One of the residents that was there was 99 years old and was rolling around in her rollator and she enjoyed living there. So I took that as a good positive sign and I would give them a high rating."

"It was a very well put together place. They have different levels of care. So in case your parent, who at first was very mobile and able to do things and suddenly went declining, they have it all that right there. They didn't have to move from one area to another area just because their abilities have changed. They could still stay in the same complex, which I thought was great. Their rooms were good and very clean. They're much smaller but it's plenty big for one person. It has areas for a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a bedroom and a bathroom. The staff was very good and very informative. They were very friendly and helpful and conscientious. We actually had lunch there and the food was good. My mother was with me at that time. She ordered one thing and I ordered another thing so we could sort of taste test them and they were of good proportions and good tasting. They had good variety of food to choose from. For activities, they have all different kind of things. They actually have their own swimming pool and gym for physical activities. They also have arts and crafts room. They would have organized classes on different subjects and they would have activities for people to go out to places. They would take trips to shopping facilities daily. They did have ability to take you to doctors or just local places to go. If anybody wanted to go bowling or to a theatre, they have things scheduled to go like that. This facility was very nice. I thought it was really well set up for people who want to be active. It's also located in a fairly nice area. There's park district right there. On one side, there's a lot of open area and on the other side, they have the apartment buildings. So it's a nice area to be able to walk around and do things and not be alone but yet not have congestion of the city."

"The staff was very attentive, compassionate, and competent. The amenities were beautiful, very nice. The facility was very homey feeling. They made it look homey through house-like architecture. The residents were allowed to bring their own furniture to their rooms. Other furniture was very non-institutional. The food was better than expected in a facility of this nature. My aunt enjoyed all the desserts. If a visitor paid $5 she/he could eat with her relative in the dinning room. The grounds were well kept. The facility was clean. The janitors were friendly. There was a beauty parlor on the premises. My aunt had her hair and nails done weekly. They had organized games, bingo, memory games, and Scrabble tournament. Choral groups would come and perform occasionally. The residents could go on shopping trips or to the movies as a group. The facility had two house dogs. The facility was set up for multiple levels of care, from assissted living to almost total dependancy. It was not my aunt's home; as much as they try to down-play the institutional nature, it was still an institution. "

"We visited The Roosevelt at Salt Creek's independent living and as far as I'm concerned, the community had only one drawback and that is that they've just started and will be undergoing some renovation for a while. I was concerned that that could be a disturbance and would make it less attractive and comfortable. You don't know for sure, but that's been my experience with those kinds of things. Other than that, I would give them a high rating in just about everything, including their quarters. I liked their rooms a little bit better than any of the other places we saw. Their staff was quite friendly and knowledgeable. The layout was good and they had outdoor areas too. Their eating arrangement looked good. It looked a little bit more complicated to me than some of the other places, but it still looks like a very nice eating arrangement. The residents also have very good interaction with their staff."

"My parents have been at Brookdale Glen Ellyn for three years now; two years in Independent Living and almost 1 year in Assisted Living. I have nothing but good to say about this facility. The staff truly cares about their residents and they are very attentive to my parents needs. When I have a concern it is immediately addressed and the staff really works with me to find the best solution for my parents. There was a time when I was afraid that circumstances would require my parents to move, and I appreciated how the management was willing to talk through the details and work with me to try to help my parents be able to stay. The facility is always neat and clean, and the many events they plan always give the residents something to do if they so desire. My parents rave about the food and constantly tell me "We just love it here". It's wonderful to have them at a place they love and I feel confident and good about. "

"Brookdale Oak Park was very nice overall. It was very clean. It looked kind of like a hotel. The apartments were very nice, very clean, and spacious. Their dining area was a very open space and there were multiple of them. The lady there was very nice. They do ceramics, movie nights, they have a game room, and a library. They have a very broad social calendar. There are a lot of activities to do every day. They invite speakers over."

"My brother is staying at Solstice Senior Living at Joliet. It's close to my house, so the location is convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful. They're good. The place is clean. It's just recently been remodeled and painted. The elevators have recently been updated. They have activities. They do bingo, they do happy hour, they do exercises in the morning, and they play poker. My brother complains sometimes about the food not being up to par. As for the whole community, they're happy and cordial. And my brother is in a studio that has a sufficient amount of space."

"Concord Place was well staffed and had a lot of amenities, but it was old. The apartments were kind of small, not set up really nice, and a lot of them were still being remodeled because of how old they are. They had a pool, but it was shut down for some reason, a fitness area which quite a few people were using, and game areas that people used often. The menu was very good, and the food was quite good. They're contained in one building. There's no place to walk around. I guess it used to be an old hotel, so you're kind of contained to that place. The best thing about Concord is the staff. They had a good staff there, and the director was very nice. "
