"We liked Franciscan Village very much but we decided to wait a while. We went to see a separate house with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was very nice. We liked best that we had a separate house for ourselves. The lady who showed us the house, the rooms and the facilities was very nice. They had a PT space for the residents, too. "

"Marian Village was expensive, but the whole atmosphere, the staff, the graciousness, and the beauty was what I like the most about the whole environment. They have lots of activities, the food is delicious; they serve one meal a day. I would recommend them although it’s a buy-in facility. "

"We toured for my aunt and uncle, and I love this place for myself. They've probably been there three years. I like the newer models, the decor, and everything was new and more modern. They have those doors on wheels, they say they're on HDTV, they have the bathroom with the barn door, and it was beautiful. The staff who gave the tour was very, very nice. The facility itself is beautiful."

"I had a very cordial visit to Tinley Court. Me coming from a house, the rooms are rather small for me. However, I appreciated the courtesy of the lady that was showing them to me. I would recommend it to anybody that would want to kind of scale down to a smaller area. They showed me at least four rooms. They also showed me an activity room, a computer area, the lunchroom, and a library. It was okay. It's very convenient to shopping, too."

"Hanover Place was fine. The grounds were well kept, the exterior looked well-manicured, and the interior appeared to be clean. The staff seemed friendly, but it just all boiled down to the size of the bedrooms, they were too small for my parents. The person who did the tour was very friendly and very transparent. Everything was nice. We saw the exercise facility, too, which was nice and that we were interested in."

"We chose Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge for Dad because they take Medicaid. Everything seemed fine. It's clean. Ashley was fantastic. They have arts and crafts and games. They have a whole room with various activities. The eating area was clean, and the people seemed to be enjoying the food. The room that they showed me was very nice. I think my dad will be very happy there. They have physical therapy and other things that I think will be beneficial to him."

"Autumn Green is very nice. For the dependent senior, it is right. The staff was very nice. Everything was very nice. It's just it's not the right fit for my mother. It may, however, be a good fit for my aunt, who needs assisted living. I saw the exercise group, and I saw the fitness center. When I went, I saw them having lunch. I was able to see their community room. I thought it was an excellent location for people who need assisted living. I was impressed with it. It's a pretty nice area. It has its challenges, but I would feel safe in Autumn Green. "

"I have toured Cantata Adult Life Services. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very strong on marketing. For the most part, the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The room's layout was ok and the size was about average, but for my needs, it felt small. I saw some residents playing cards, they have an exercise area for the residents which was positive, they also have a library and some attractive common spaces for gatherings. The outdoor area looks nice, but the facilities themselves need more updating for accessibility, particularly. "

"My first impression of it was very warm and caring. Everybody was very happy. The people who work there were very concerned. It just seemed like a nice and happy place. The facility was very clean, and the rooms were very nice. I did not see anything that was out of place. They have lots of activities. "

"The staff there are very good at Brookdale Plaza. I just feel bad because the marketing was misrepresented. We signed a lease for a year and I don't know what we will do next year. Their rooms are lovely and that is one of the reasons why we went there. To a certain degree, I would recommend this place. Their food is very good. The employees will do anything for you. Since we entered this facility, everything is between a nickel and a dime now. I was told my father can go to church or take a bath but we came to find out that only certain people can do that. He is in the assisted living area. While the independent and senior peole can do that or this, he cannot. It will cost me twenty dollars a week for him to go on a bath or to go to church. I was not told that. I feel that we were misled. "

"We visited The Roosevelt at Salt Creek's independent living and as far as I'm concerned, the community had only one drawback and that is that they've just started and will be undergoing some renovation for a while. I was concerned that that could be a disturbance and would make it less attractive and comfortable. You don't know for sure, but that's been my experience with those kinds of things. Other than that, I would give them a high rating in just about everything, including their quarters. I liked their rooms a little bit better than any of the other places we saw. Their staff was quite friendly and knowledgeable. The layout was good and they had outdoor areas too. Their eating arrangement looked good. It looked a little bit more complicated to me than some of the other places, but it still looks like a very nice eating arrangement. The residents also have very good interaction with their staff."

"Brookdale Glen Ellyn was a very, very nice facility. The tour that I had was excellent. We just showed up and they were super nice to take the time out to give us the tour. The person who assisted us was very warm, informative, and outgoing. I would live there. The rooms were super nice. Even the studio rooms were nice. They were all good-sized, around 400 square feet. Their dining room was superb, it was like going into a classy restaurant. The residents were nice, too. Everybody was very upbeat. They had a pool and exercise equipment."

"My husband and I visited the Concord Place. It is a nice building. It is a nice building with a nice atmosphere, especially when you go upstairs. When we entered the lobby, I wasn't too impressed because it was plain. I noticed stains on the rug, which threw me off. However, when the sales person gave us a tour of the place, I was impressed. On the first floor, they have a workout area and a swimming pool, which I liked. Visitors are allowed to use the swimming pool; I like that. Outside the swimming pool, they have a small courtyard. You can go outside and sit there. It was impressive. We went upstairs where they had a couple of rec rooms; it was very nice. They have ballrooms that they rent out and a room where they hold parties for the residents. They have dancing there. My brother-in-law loves to dance, so he would have loved that. However, because my brother-in-law has Alzheimer's, they told us that this was not the place for him. Even though he is not a wanderer, they are not lockdown, and so for that fact, they could not take him."

"I was really, really impressed with American House Cedarlake. The rooms seemed particularly generous, and they had a more secure area for those people who need a little bit more security and needed to be watched over more closely. They have independent living, which is what we were looking for. They let the people decorate the outside of their doors to make it their own place. It wasn't gaudy, and it allowed them to make their door a little bit more distinguished, like it was their own home, and it maybe let other people more easily find their door. After all, it is like walking into a hotel, because all the doors look the same. It was on a relatively large campus; I had to drive down a good-sized drive, like maybe half a mile or more, to get to the building. I like the woman there very much. She was in marketing. She had been a consultant so she was familiar with the facility. They also gave me an American apple pie, and it was a delicious pie. I like this one more because the grounds were very generous, and my mom is much more of a country person. The rooms were really generous, too, with lots of closets, and everybody had a washer and dryer. We walked a lot during our tour. It seemed like there were multiple buildings that were connected through a variety of different hallways. It felt like a large facility to me. You didn't feel constrained, and it was all very roomy. The staff I met was very conversational. She was very helpful, and because she'd had some personal experience when her dad had been in the facility, she was able to provide a great perspective. She also recommended that I look into if the VA can give any support. I thought that it was amazing that she provided me with some financial possibilities, which I appreciated. I asked her to show me independent living, so that's where she took me, but she also showed me the security and the areas for the other homes for the ones who need a little bit more oversight. I liked this particular place because it looked like they had table service in their dining room. Around two or three in the afternoon, you could just kind of go down and have a little snack. I don't want to call it a happy hour, but it was almost like a bistro kind of thing where you could just pick up your sandwiches and stuff. They also try to make sure that people come out of their rooms, so even though they delivered food, they would only leave it at the bistro. You had to at least come out and pick it up there, which I thought was a clever idea because some people never get out of their rooms."

"Victory Centre of South Chicago was nice. When I came in, they had a band playing. It was cool to see letting the other people who live there interact and hear music back from when they were growing up. I love the activities that they had going on there, too. The person who showed me around was very upfront, very friendly, and just very straightforward in terms of what it was going to be like and what the places looked like. I only saw a studio apartment and it was very nicely put together with low countertops and smaller refrigerators. They had the place where the band was playing, so that's their music place. They also showed me an open area for just relaxing, do board games, or just watching TV. They had three or four open spaces. They offer transportation for the people who live there, to get to and from the store or to get to and from a doctor. The facility was very nice and clean, nothing was unsanitary, and nothing smelled bad. Everything was very well put together. The area was a little bit rough around the edges, but the building itself and the staff were good."
