My parents are in Brookdale Glen Ellyn. My father was in assisted living there for a month, but now they are in the same independent living apartment. They have an amazing staff. Many of them have been there for over ten years. It's a very supportive community. They were able to provide a 30-day assisted living respite care for my dad. They provided an apartment for him and the furniture for a 30-day stay before my mom moved there. That put together a very difficult puzzle for us for how we were going to care for him as he recovered. Then we were all in agreement that he could move upstairs to independent living with my mom. They are both there now and doing very well. I think they primarily need support with meals and transportation right now, which Brookdale provides. They have been wonderful about that. The front desk staff is great. The marketing people are wonderful. What they like about the dining hall is that the man who's in charge has a town hall meeting every month where all the residents come and talk to him about the menus and what they like about the food, and what they don't. He very much includes them in his planning, so it's wonderful. I have not personally been there for a meal, but my mother is very particular and has been very pleased with the food, so that's a good sign.

We toured Brookdale Glen Ellyn. The emphasis is more on independent living as we found, by making several tours, that probably our family member who needs care is going to be more qualified and comfortable in independent living. One of the things I like best is the location. It's a very private location that is kind of sheltered, but it is very easy to get to. It's very close to the main roads. The staff was also very friendly. They have a courtyard area in the back, which is very inviting. It's outdoors but close to the community and not accessible from the outside. You can easily get to some very nice shopping areas, either in a car or walking that are very close to the community. You wouldn't expect it because it's so sheltered but if you take a couple of corners, you come into view of the shopping areas that are closer to a main road. I think that's a real advantage, to have a nice sheltered and quiet community so close to those things that you could walk or drive to. I was not able to try the food, but we did see the food being served. They also had a special event, like an Oktoberfest celebration, when we were there and that was interesting to see. They had somebody who was leading the entertainment involving the group of residents who attended. They had costumes and things like that so that was quite interesting.

I toured Brookdale Glen Ellyn. Everybody was friendly. The residents even said hi to me. It was very clean and had a lot of things to do. I talked to two different nurses, the director, and the guy that was giving me the tour. So, I talked to four different staff members while I was there, so that was kind of interesting. They have a gym. They have a therapy room. They had a library. They had a game room. They had a movie room. They had a lot of stuff in there.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn was top of the line. Everything about them was excellent. It was very clean, and the atmosphere was very nice. There was a guy playing the piano, so it was just very, very nice and very comfortable. They're very friendly people, not only the staff but the residents as well. They're very, very kind. They had a great variety of food. The staff who assisted me was great, too.

I visited Brookdale Glen Ellyn. I liked the interviewer. We had a lot of things in common, but when I toured the facility, I was disappointed. There was a corner bedroom available, which would've been nice. When you come in, it's beautiful, it's got new furniture, and it looked very nice, but their facilities were really small. Their pool was very small, and their gym was the size of a normal room. They've got some equipment in there, but it's pretty small. They've got two nice rooms and a big conference room, but the pool table was right there when you walked in. The interviewer said they can't expand anymore. It's kind of old. I didn't meet very many staff except the ones in administration. They seemed very friendly and very nice.

I went to Brookdale Glen Ellyn. It was a very nice tour. It's a very nice place. The staff was very helpful and very understanding of the situation with my dad. Lauren offered me ways to introduce my dad to a senior living place to see if he would like it. She says, "Why don't we have a lunch together here? You could meet some of the other veterans." She also said that they have a program where they can live there for three months to see if they like it, which I thought was very nice and a very good way of introducing a person to senior living to see if they like it. She also sent me a schedule of events that I could bring my dad to if he was interested. It was very clean and seemed to be very well-kept. The apartment she showed me was really nice and very clean. They have a lot of great amenities. They had a health club room, a pool, a nice courtyard, and ample parking. They had options for parking like a carport or a garage you could rent. The location was very convenient for my family because it was right in the middle of my sister, my brother, and myself, but my dad was not interested. Everyone was super nice. Everything looked really clean and in order, maintenance-wise. I didn't see anything that stood out to me that needed to be fixed or anything like that.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn was a very, very nice facility. The tour that I had was excellent. We just showed up and they were super nice to take the time out to give us the tour. The person who assisted us was very warm, informative, and outgoing. I would live there. The rooms were super nice. Even the studio rooms were nice. They were all good-sized, around 400 square feet. Their dining room was superb, it was like going into a classy restaurant. The residents were nice, too. Everybody was very upbeat. They had a pool and exercise equipment.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn would have been my first choice, but they did not have an apartment available. I loved the pool, and the rooms were nice. The grounds looked wonderful. It was located right next to a park. It had a lot of open spaces. They also had a beautiful courtyard. The person who gave me the tour was new, so he didn't have a lot of answers to my questions.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn was the first senior facility that I had actually toured and it was a positive experience. The woman that I had the experience with initially was very polite. She was very willing to answer questions. I also met the gentleman that drives their bus, and he was very nice and friendly. I'm feeling good about my choice. I really am. They were all very welcoming and very helpful. The place was very clean and very well kept. It was just a very pleasant surrounding. They have an exercise room and a library for the residents to go to. I got a feeling of good care, and that if I wanted to be busy, there are programs/activities during the day that I could join, and they would keep me as busy as I wanted to be.

We toured Brookdale Glen Ellyn. It had independent living. The assisted living was in a different building, which was fine for us. It's in a lovely location, and there are lots of green areas. However, you have to go outside to go to the garage. The staff was lovely. The food was at least two or three meals a day. The rooms were very nice. It was at least 20 or 25 minutes away from Elmhurst, where my kids are.

Very pleased with Brookdale. Mom lived in both Independent Living and Assisted Living. Caring Staff that made ALL the difference for us! Managed COVID very well - good precautions for the residents. Good variety and quality in the food offerings. Cute cafe for lunch with visitors. Lots of activities. Overall great experience and I continue to recommend to my friends for their aging parents.

We visited both independent and assisted living at Brookdale Glen Elyn. I like that they had a lot of activities, and the room I saw was very clean and large. If somebody is active, they have a pool, lots of outings, and a nice dining room. The person who gave us the tour was friendly and knowledgeable.

The Brookdale Glen Ellyn assisted living was very comfortable, inviting, and spacious. It had a homey feel to it as well. It was very modern, very up-to-date, and luxurious. It's a place where seniors would receive the best possible care, living out there the better years of their lives, and that is something that I was looking for, my mom. The staff was awesome, very friendly, and knowledgeable. The room I saw was spacious and had a perfect view. You can see the sun shining into the window in that particular room that I was looking at. It was inviting, warm, clean, sanitized, and all of that good stuff. The dining area was very big and with lots of space. We could even come in as a family if we needed to do a specific event or something of the sort with our loved one so that was very, very appreciated. I think I was told that the place is cleaned daily. I believe that the maintenance man or one of the staff members have been there for quite some time so it was good to know that there are not a lot of turnovers in the staffing of the community. They had the spa, maybe a beauty shop or a beauty salon on the premises, a movie area, and a special activities area, I think, where you need to go to have occupational therapy or physical therapy. There was a place for that. The areas where there was a library, I believe, and also areas where the patrons would be able to eat their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was also a little store there where they could go and buy extra snacks for themselves. I like that community.

I went to Brookdale Glen Ellyn. The tour itself was well organized. The facilities were nice and clean. They had a lot of amenities. I was impressed with the selection of the food menus and everything. I liked it for sure. I thought that the studio was a little bit small for what we were looking for. I think that's gonna be probably the case with the studio anywhere, so it's not specific to that place. I didn't eat a meal, but the menu looked great. I saw a library, a game room, a place where you can do some gardening outside, a pool, a physical therapy space, and some meeting rooms that you could have family in.

My parents moved to Brookdale Glen Ellen’s independent living a few years ago. Having lived most of their lives in Chicago’s western suburbs, its location was welcoming. We’ve visited several times, though not as often as we’d like from Texas. The entire facility is neat, bright, and clean, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. Meals in the dining room are a treat, with plenty to choose from, delicious food, and a family atmosphere not unlike a friendlier version of a cruise ship dining room. The staff has put in extra effort (and it shows) since 2019 to keep everyone safe and healthy during trying times. Their communication with family members has been thorough and reassuring, especially for those of us far away. Dad and Mom never fail to speak highly of their fellow residents and the staff, and have been thankful that Brookdale Glen Ellyn was their choice as home. We couldn’t agree more. Highest rating.

The rooms are very nice although small but the staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is nicely decorated and clean and having personally had dinner there, the menu selections are nice and the food is tasty.

A health challenge forced us to move our parents out of their home of nearly 60 years and into a facility that could provide for them. Brookdale Glen Ellyn has been a phenomenal find. My parents are eating far better thanks to their dining room. Both of them are exercising now which is something completely new for them. Their mental health has improved too. There are bus trips, tours, concerts and social events to provide great interaction with many others that was no longer happening as much at their house. This has given our out-going father a chance to leave their apartment and find other mentally stimulating opportunities from poker games, billiards and more while our introverted mother relaxes quietly in their wonderful two-bedroom apartment. Even though I live out of state, I can tell from their voices on the phone and smiles on Facetime that Brookdale was the right answer for some very challenging situations. The staff has been wonderful and has encouraged their growth of both friends and activities. This facility gets my full support and recommendation.

I'm a resident of Brookdale Glen Ellyn, a very grateful one. I have a daughter that I had to be very close to. I need to be on call at all hours and Brookdale is very close to where my home was and where her home is, and I could not be luckier to have such a wonderful place to be. Transportation is a big issue, and fortunately the bus that runs here for us has been more than accommodating. They not only drive me, they pick my daughter up as well for doctors' appointments or eye appointments or anything like that, which is over and above what they would have to do certainly. I've been here two years and a couple of months now. The staff is fantastic. They are the hardest working, happiest and friendliest people that I know. Everyone that works here in every capacity is just wonderful. They keep us very busy. There's exercise class, and I just came from one of those. Someone from the Glen Ellyn Library is coming to discuss current events. Yesterday, there was a lovely lady that sang Christmas carols to us for an hour. There's just always something to do if you want to or if you don't, you don't have to. The food is very good. It was a little better when I first moved in here, but that was before the pandemic. The current situation, with the rising prices of food and everything, it's not quite what it was, but they certainly are trying and they're very short staffed. A lot of the staff is like college age, so when school started in the fall, a lot of them left. They do the very best they can and we're all surviving for sure. They are working very hard to see that we're all accommodated. There are a few meals a week that aren't a 5, and there are some that are. I have a magnificent view. I look out on Newton Park and the football field. There are lots of trees, and I'm on the fifth floor. I have a beautiful apartment. After living in a house for 47 years, I was not sure how that would work, but I've made some very good friends here. Everybody seems happy. I can't say enough about it. It wasn't so easy in the beginning because I didn't know a soul coming in here and it's taken a while, but I'm very happy to be here.

We went to Brookdale Glen Ellyn last month. It was a very warm and welcoming facility. Physically, the property was in very good condition and the apartments were very nice. They had a lot of activities for seniors and it seemed very complete. The location to my siblings down in that area was very good so my dad liked it. We saw both assisted and independent living. It's a very nice place and their staff is very nice.

I will be here in Brookdale Glen Ellyn for four years in September. I went out and visited five or six, and this was by far the best. The most impressive thing here is that the staff really cares about the residents. Every retirement home I looked at, I looked at the turnover of staff and what the staff had to say, and the staff here at Brookdale was by far the most interested in the residents. They have one characteristic here, which just absolutely blew me away, that they learn the residents' names by the first day they're here. I walked down from my breakfast the first day I was here, and the person who runs the dining room, who had never met me before, walked up and addressed me by my first name and made me feel right at home. Brookdale makes you feel like you're in your home and not as you're visiting some antiseptic place. I was most impressed with the staff, and I continue to be terribly impressed because they are committed to help you with anything you need, and they go above and beyond their duties to make your life good. For example, I have a pretty good walk to where we deliver the garbage, and they grabbed it out of my hand as I'm starting to walk down there and they say, 'We'll take care of this for you,' Another thing that I liked about it here is that the people that live here have a lot of different programs. It's certainly not boring. They have programs that are very much oriented towards keeping you in physical and good mental shape, but also doing the things that are just plain fun. We have bus rides to take us to supermarkets, to drugstores and to doctor's appointments. It's all tied up together, which is great. We also have fun trips whether it's a local baseball team or whether it's a museum. It keeps the residents very much involved and makes their life more meaningful. This place is immaculately clean, the building is very comfortable, and the dining room and the food are excellent. They have a broad scope of choices for your meals. One of the things that impressed me is talking to people that have been here for 5 or 10 or even 18 or 19 years, and I have yet to find anybody who says they don't like it here. Everybody seems to have a good time and everybody's very friendly. Also, they encourage members of the family to visit frequently, and they help us communicate with them and take messages. It's a comfortable life, it's a big change after the death of a spouse, but everybody enjoys it. The general manager is just terrific. We have people that are assigned specifically to all the residents when they come here. Of course, everybody gets used to the names and the duties of all the people that work here. There is a resident that's assigned to the new resident that has similar likes or dislikes and helps them to get accustomed to things here. For me, it's been a great choice. I'm on the residents committee and in talking to people, everybody says we're very lucky to be here.

I'm a current resident of Brookdale Glen Ellyn. I'm very happy with the facility. The staff is all very nice, very welcoming, and very helpful. I'm pleased with the food. The food manager has meetings with the community more than once a month to get the opinions and suggestions of the people, and I appreciate that, too. I like pool exercises and other exercises, and they have walks and entertainment, too. It's a very nice community, and all the people that are here are very nice and nice to talk to. I haven't met anybody that hasn't been a help to me. I'm very happy with my apartment. It is only a studio, but it's perfect enough for me. It's on the first floor and I get a nice view of the entrance from the window. I'm happy with the activities.

I'm at Brookdale Glen Ellyn. I'm a resident along with my husband. I think it's a great place. My husband and I have been here almost two years now, and they have everything that we would want. They have nice meals and good food. We have bus service. We just came back from a musical in the courtyard here, and we like it here. The staff members are very courteous, kind, and nice. Every time we ask a question, we have it answered right away, or they say they'll get back to us and they do so within 24 hours. I asked them to help me to set up a new TV and they were Johnny-on-the-spot. They're great. The people are great. We've made a lot of new friends here. It's a little pricey, but we're getting along all right. We like it here.

Mom has been a resident at Brookdale in Glen Ellym, IL for eight years. Absolutely every aspect of this facility is above and beyond expectations. The staff has always been very attentive and accommodating and has done a wonderful job through the pandemic keeping the residents involved, informed and motivated. Mom has nothing but high praises about the facility, the administration and staff. How wonderful to know that she is being well cared for and attended to, and how much she loves her surroundings! Five stars throughout!!

My father-in-law is moving into Brookdale Glen Ellyn in April. It's only a five-minute drive from my house. The staff was great, it's a very nice facility, the rooms were a good size, and they had nice views. It's top notch. It had lots of different amenities for the residents. They have a pool, a store, a little bit of a café, an ice-cream shop, a game room, a health club, and doctors on site.

I was impressed with Brookdale Glen Ellyn. The staff was very friendly, open, courteous, knowledgeable, and pleasant. I only saw a 1-bedroom, and it looked very roomy, clean and adequate for one person. I liked its cleanliness, the roominess, and it's very nice. I got to meet a couple of the residents who had very favorable opinion of the facility, too. The person who took me around explained to me that a lot of the certified nursing assistants have been there for over 10 years, which is a really good rate for CNAs who usually have high turnovers. I would recommend this place. That'd be my top choice for my dad.

The greatest assets of Brookdale Glen Ellyn are the people, both the residents and the staff. The staff is friendly, caring and accommodating. The residents are friendly and welcoming. When my wife and I went to dinner the first night here we were greeted by name. There are a variety of activities both in and outside the facility to keep one occupied. After my wife passed I found a great deal of support from the other residents, two of which have become my good friends. Awaiting the removal of the COVID-19 restrictions so we can fully enjoy the benefits that Brookdale Glen Ellyn has to offer.

My 85 year old father has lived at Brookdale for 2 1/2 years. It is the perfect place for him. The grounds outside (back patio and lawn) and the common areas of the facility are lovely and VERY clean. When he wants to retreat to his own apartment, he has everything he needs and it’s so homey. My father comments frequently about how wonderful the staff is...very positive, helpful and engaging with the residents. He loves to chat and share stories/jokes with them. There have been a few times that my father has been ill or needed assistance quickly and the staff has been very prompt in responding to his needs. When I visit, the staff all know my name and which resident I am there to see! The food and activities are plentiful and varied....including a gym and pool. My father has the option on a daily basis to be as busy as he would like to be. He gets together with his new found friends regularly for Bridge and dinners. When we were choosing an independent senior living facility, I knew Brookdale Glen Ellyn was the right spot immediately. The energy and engagement of the residents were so much higher than other places. My father has thrived here and is SO happy! I would highly recommend Brookdale Glen Ellyn to anyone looking for a senior independent living community!

My parents have lived in Independent living at the Brookdale Glen Ellyn for 2 years. They have loved it since the day of their arrival. Their surroundings, their apartment, the staff, the meals , the amenities and daily activities keep them active and involved. As their daughter, I feel that my parents are welcomed, appreciated and cared for and this gives me great peace of mind. My sister and I looked at several senior residences and the Brookdale Glen Ellyn was always our first choice.

Brookdale has an amazing staff that cares deeply for their residents. My grandma lived in both assisted and independent rooms and we always felt that she was well cared for and safe. I enjoyed visiting her during meal time (the food is great too) or special events. Tons of activities and opportunities to be social, and the facility is top-notch.

The pandemic has been hard on everyone, but none more so than our elderly population. That being said, I have nothing but praise for Brookdale Glen Ellyn and the staff. My parents are both over 90 and have moved to an apt. in Assisted Living after having lived 5+ years here in Independent Living. The staff on the AL floor feel more like family at this point, and their consistent care and warmth toward my parents gives us great comfort. ALL of the nurses on the AL floor are outstanding, the CNAs hardworking and caring, and the housekeeping staff kind, efficient and friendly to the residents. Over the years we have had many extended family dinners hosted here which were wonderful, and dining services has stepped up and taken on a tough job during the COVID pandemic, delivering meals to all of the residents in their apartments. I understand that the options and quality have not suffered at all! With regard to the management team, and especially their handling of the COVID pandemic and what that means for seniors housed together, I give nothing but the highest marks. Excellent communication, thoughtful execution of difficult measures, and special care for the residents. My sisters and I feel so lucky that my parents , if they can't be with us, are at this place at this time with these people.

Our mom has lived at Brookdale for several years, first in the Independent Living apts. and now in the Assisted Living apts. The apts. are spacious, even the studios. There are balconies on each floor and some apts. have their own private balcony. The staff is amazing and we feel so blessed that our mom is taken care of for all her needs. The staff also work with us during this pandemic to allow us to have window visits with our mom as often as we like. We are so grateful to all of them for their endurance and patience and helpfulness as we know how tired they must be. The activities are endless and we have attended many of them whether it be a holiday festivity, religious services, games, music, or an outing; the residents and staff have such good camaraderie. The sharing of laughter, friendship and helpfulness are seen everywhere here. We are confident and trust that Brookdale takes care of our mom as though she were one of their family members.

BROOKDALE has many caring employees. My parents are in the independent apartments at Brookdale. They went to another facility for a short time, but wanted to come back to Brookdale for the food! We have been very happy with the quick and efficient response to the COVID pandemic. We are always getting updates from the facility. We really feel that our loved ones are safe and cared for which is all you can ask for when looking at facilities. If you have looked at places you will find that they are all costly. However, Brookdale has many activities available for residents. I wish my parents would partake in some of those activities. My parents like it there and they are very hard to please!

About Brookdale, Glen Ellyn I contemplated moving my elderly parents from Florida (where they lived for over 30 years) back up North for quite some time and considered several alternatives. I then worked with management at Brookdale in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, over several months looking at options for my parents. When my Dad passed away July, 2019, much sooner than expected, I quickly needed to accelerate my Mom’s relocation to assisted living somewhere, as she was unable to stay alone. Management at Brookdale Glen Ellyn worked with me to quickly accelerate the process. I literally flew my Mom up from Florida, dropped her off at Brookdale Glen Ellyn assisted living with a suitcase of personal items, and borrowed furniture from Brookdale until I could plan to move her necessary personal items, clean out and sell the house in Florida, in addition to having to coordinate my Dad’s funeral, personal matters, etc. All the while knowing my Mom was getting great care in Brookdale’s assisted living. From day one the management and staff at Brookdale Glen Ellyn made what was an overwhelming undertaking a smooth and easy process in a matter of days. Once all the dust settled, I was able to transition my Mom’s personal items on a schedule that worked for me and allowed under my work schedule, all the while knowing my Mom was with caring people. The management and staff at Brookdale Glen Ellyn have given our family tremendous support under the most challenging times and challenging circumstances. I could not have done this without them - and the great care continues! Tim, Glen Ellyn, IL

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I could never say enough good things about Brookdale. The employees are the best. The facility is beautiful. There are tons of activities such as games, cards, swimming pool, pool table. The living room is very homey and a wonderful place to come sit. My parents moved there about 7 years ago. Everyone was so nice and treated them so well. They always made sure all their needs were met. When my dad got dementia they went above and beyond in caring for him until he died. My mom is still there and they are so kind to her. With this Covid pandemic they are checking on her several times a day to make sure she has everything she needs. They bring her snacks, puzzles, and other goodies. They visit to make sure she doesn't get lonely. I cannot begin to say how glad we are to have my mom there.

Altho' my parents waited far too long to move into a residential community -- and were resistant to leave their home of 50 years... they are so THANKFUL they made the decision... and their only regret is that they hadn't done it sooner. The staff, the facilities, the other residents -- and now the care, staff and protection and security, peace of mind, physical, emotional and everyday support they receive -- priceless. It's a community and they're so lucky to have found a new home, with new friends, excellent food and outstanding care. Highest marks. Makes me think I need to start planning ahead myself!!!

Clean, well appointed, good food, ample and efficient space with a variety of offerings and settings to meet a host of needs. Staff is hospitable, empathetic, knowledgeable and available. Mom was not keen in going in the midst of a 30 day trial she was won over. Pre-conceptions: POOF! Socialization (if desired) is both available and outstanding. Getting or remaining connected is vital to mental and physical health. Community is evident. And you can always "dial it back" if you need space for yourself. Checks all the boxes for both resident(s) and family members on the outside. Thank you

This facility has a lot of care issues. The assisted living floor is short staffed and has too many residents who need more care than they can handle. They are also not following all the appropriate procedures for Covid 19 and they have already have at least one confirmed case there that they have informed the residents about. The facility is trying to implement proper care policies from corporate but the staff is not following them them the way they should and they were way late to the game on masks and gloves. The facility has a few good staff members on the assisted living floor that are not valued the way they should. They are always trying to hire and have temp agencies come in often. Independent living seems to be liked by many residents as most of them are doing their own thing and do not require any care by staff. The facility is nice visually and food quality is up and down.

Why is there no statement that there is an active case of COVID-19 at the Glen Ellyn campus? And will they let family members know if there is more than one case? On the website they are still listing activities as if they are still going on when in fact the residents can’t even leave their room to take out their garbage. High prices are being charged for necessities like toilet paper and toothpaste but the residents are unable to go to a store because they’ve been locked down for weeks before the active case was discovered. The price is at Brookdale for things in general are very high. You need to watch out for the hidden costs when you live at Brookdale.

We were pretty impressed with Brookdale Glen Ellyn in terms of its physical setup and the attitudes of the residents and staff. We felt that it would be a good fit for us. We liked the apartment which was a two-bedroom. They offer things like housekeeping and food services, the usual stuff. I saw their dining room. They also have what they call a bistro. The community was well laid out, clean, and they have different things that we thought were pretty nice, like the beauty shop and hobby room.

I had my dad living here in assisted living. It is a lovely community with an insanely caring staff!!!!! They treated my dad with great respect and joked around with him repeatedly which really suited his personality. His studio was one of the larger ones....very spacious with a great view. He spent most of his time watching the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears and could always be counted on to give the scores....When you could pry him away from the TV, he enjoyed the musical programs and people watching. They even got him to join the choir and was happy enough with it to do a group ensemble! When it came time for his end of life, the staff of the entire community was wonderful to deal with. Everyone expressed their concerns, stopped by to check on our family, etc. It was a great place and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering assisted living for a loved one. As an aside, the independent living seemed amazing! The residents are active and super friendly from what I saw. When we would go as a family for dinner with my dad, we would eat in the independent dining room. Everyone was laughing and having a good time at their tables and the food was delicious! (Same menu was in assisted living.) It seems like it would be great to live here if you are looking for yourself as well.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn was very nice and it's a newer facility. The only reason it wouldn't work was the location. The apartments were beautiful. The staff member was extremely friendly, she was a very energetic person, and the residents seemed to love her. She probably does a good job there because the people like her a lot. She's very professional and very informative.

I liked Brookdale Glen Ellyn very much. It's a lovely place. They seem to have thought of everything you might need. It was the only place I visited that had an indoor pool (which was important to me). My main concern is the cost. If I had the money I would go there. The facility was under renovation, but as I walked through, I didn't see a need for it because it was still very well kept. My exposure to the rooms was somewhat limited due to the fact that they didn't have many unoccupied places to look at. The activities seemed to be well thought out and many of them would be things that I'd be interested in. I know someone who lives there who has been very happy with her stay. I like the fact that it gets very high marks from anybody that I've been associated with, and that everybody says the food is great.

Brookdale Glen Ellyn was wonderful. I would recommend it. However, it did not meet my aunt's needs because they don't have memory care and they only give you 25 diners in assisted living. For other people, it would be a wonderful facility. The lady I spoke to was wonderful. I saw the seniors that were there and it was an active place. Everybody looked happy. The place was clean. It just wasn't a good fit for my aunt. It had a swimming pool and a hot tub. If I retire, that would be a place that I would move to.

The people at Brookdale Glen Ellyn were wonderful, but the place was too big. It was like a huge hotel. It was like going into an apartment building with long hallways and doors. My mom would have gotten lost there. I got confused because it was too big. It was beautiful, though. What I liked was that it had a pool and a workout room, but my mother would not have been happy there. There were a lot of people who looked very happy. We toured the place and the room where they were playing bingo, which was cute. Everybody seemed happy, but my mom is more of a homey person.

I didn’t like Brookdale Glen Ellyn just because it was way too far from my doctors and the community that I was used to. I didn’t like the location. The staff was nice. They showed me everything that they could. They did not have anything open; we were in one unit that was occupied already. I didn’t spend much time over there, it was a quick tour, but it looked nice.

The staff at Brookdale Glen Ellyn was wonderful; the residents seemed content. The rooms were lovely, very homey, and comfy. We had some lemonade, which was available at all times and very nice. They had lots of activities that people were enjoying, so that was nice to see. It was expensive, and the location was totally out of the way. It’s very beautiful but very far away.

Brookdale's facility was very nice. If I would pick a place, I would pick that one. It had a good overall feeling about it. The staff was helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I did not spend much time in the common dining room. I just saw it, and it looked nice. They had activities, and the rooms were very nice, well kept, spacious, and clean. I liked it.

My mom was in a small studio in Brookdale. It was very nice but too pricey for my mom. The dining area was very nice. They had a large menu but only two meals a day. If you wanted to have lunch, you had to pay for it which was disappointing. The other thing that I found interesting was that if I dined there with my mom, they charged me $14 for that visit. They had nice activities, but my mom did not attend most because she had trouble hearing.

I was impressed that the lady who was giving me the tour at Brookdale Glen Ellyn knew the names of everybody that passed by, which was probably 15 or 20 people. The room was what I expected: nice quality with a fair amount of room for one person. There were people playing cards, but I went during the day, so there wasn’t a lot of action, so to speak.

The sales representative at Brookdale Glen Ellyn was very competent. The facility is very clean and sharp and kept up. The pricing is within the range of what I’m looking for. They showed me the sample room. It’s a one-bedroom with kitchen, and it was nice. The dining area was very open, very spacious, lots of sunlight. They have a small swimming pool, and they have lots of activities.

My visit to Brookdale was very good. I recommended it to my in-laws, and they’re very interested. It didn’t have a nursing home feel. They can accommodate a gluten-free diet, and not every place I looked at could handle it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

My father started in the independent living at Brookdale Glen Ellyn (Formerly The Meadows Glen Ellyn). It's a smaller community, and one thing that's exceptional is that all the staff know everybody's name and they also know the relatives of the resident there. They make you feel warm and welcome, and they really care about the residents. Now, my father is in the assisted living component. They provide furniture if you need it, they provide the medication, and they just go the extra mile for each of the residents. He was recently hospitalized, and when he returned, they were like "Where have you been and we missed you so much." It's nice to have that kind of feeling. They have a restaurant on site, and the wait staff -- who tend to be younger kids, 18 to 20 -- is excellent. They know that my father likes black coffee, and they immediately bring it. He is a great eater, and he cleans his plate all the time, so it must be very good. There are a lot of outings that I feel a lot of the residents go to, and there's transportation provided to these outings. They really try and get the people involved. There are a lot of movies and bingo, and they have guests come in and play the piano and play old-time music, things that the people there can relate to. They have birthday parties for everybody, and they can have big functions if you want to invite somebody there. There was a lady that just turned 103, and she had over 100 people there. It's close to my house, so it's convenient, and I like the smallness of it. Personally, I think that's important to people so that the residents feel like it's their home and they feel comfortable.

My mother who is 96 resides at the Brookdale Glen Ellyn as an independent resident. She has called this home for the past three years and I have visited her nearly daily over the course of those three years. Brookdale is a wonderful residence for my mother and even though she is independent, there have been three occasions when she has needed assistance or emergency attention. Each time, the staff surrounds her with care and immediacy and have genuinely demonstrated their fondness for her. Of course this is important to me as her daughter, but I observe this same level of sincerity and involvement with all the residents as I come on go daily. Brookdale is a well-maintained facility and my brother often remarks it's like a four star hotel! Activities and opportunities to be involved abound but without pressure to do anything beyond a resident's comfort. My mother enjoys participating in a book club, playing bridge weekly and serving as an ambassador for new residents. She has formed new relationships which is important at this time of life when so many life friendships have ended. I enjoy the relationships that I have formed as well both with the staff and residents and look forward to participating in the Friday afternoon "happy hour" from time-to-time. My family and I feel grateful that our mom/grandma has a place where she is safe, cared-for and where she continues to live rich moments in her near century old life. Thank you Brookdale for helping us love this woman who means so much to us.

My parents have been at Brookdale Glen Ellyn for three years now; two years in Independent Living and almost 1 year in Assisted Living. I have nothing but good to say about this facility. The staff truly cares about their residents and they are very attentive to my parents needs. When I have a concern it is immediately addressed and the staff really works with me to find the best solution for my parents. There was a time when I was afraid that circumstances would require my parents to move, and I appreciated how the management was willing to talk through the details and work with me to try to help my parents be able to stay. The facility is always neat and clean, and the many events they plan always give the residents something to do if they so desire. My parents rave about the food and constantly tell me "We just love it here". It's wonderful to have them at a place they love and I feel confident and good about.

I visited Brookdale because we had an elderly friend of ours who was staying there, and it is very close to our house. It was a very beautiful facility. The staff was very nice. The lady we visited, we visited her in her apartment. She had a one-bedroom apartment there. It was very nice, and it was adequate. Security there seemed fine. What we saw was very nice. When you walk in, it was like a semi-fancy hotel. It was a nice-looking building; it was all brick on the outside. It was a nice residence.

The two stars are for the building/apartments. It is definitely a hotel atmosphere very clean and well maintained. The meals they provide are also pretty good and they offer many options for residents. The reason for only giving two stars comes down to the staff They are SO nice when you first come in and make you feel like they actually care about your loved one. Watch out though as soon as you sign that lease everything changes. The staff is very un-organized they do not listen to your requests and continue to make mistakes. Housekeeping is a joke! They are rude they have lost my grandmas linens and refused to replace them. They do nothing as far as cleaning other then run a vacuum around, I went to visit my grandma and her toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a month. Everything is extra so we are paying for them to clean for her and it looks awful. My grandma is in the early stages of dementia so they almost always blame issues on her having dementia and are currently in the process of trying to get us to move her to the Alzheimers floor which of course is more $$ I feel like they do not care at all about my grandma just about her money and how they can get more out of her. The price here is insane and every service is ala cart. I would suggest looking elsewhere we will be moving my grandma out as soon as her lease is up. Dont let Brookdale's fancy building and overly friendly staff fool you!

The people I talked to at Brookdale Glen Ellyn were very nice. The place is very, very nice. People are very friendly. They have a lot going on for the residents at all times. The place is very clean. My mother loves it. It is like a hotel. The dining room looks like a restaurant with tablecloths, napkins, and a flower on the table. It looks beautiful. I have not tried the food, but my mother is a fussy person and every time I ask her how the food is, she said it's great. My mother has to have her medication, so they come in in the morning and they help her with her medication. Every three days, she gets her shower, and they're very careful with her. She is having a hard time seeing, so they come and get her, and they bring her wherever she has to go. Brookdale is more spacious. They have a Laundromat on each floor for the people to do their laundry. They do have a beauty salon. They have doctors and nurses on-duty. You couldn't ask for anything more. They're checking her out. The doctors call me and explain to me what has to be done. They have a lot of doings for the people. Christmas is coming, and they're decorating there. In fact, all the new people that have moved in, they're having a wine and cheese little get-together for them and their family.

Brookdale Plaza Glen Ellyn is nice, but they are a little bit more expensive as they have security. This facility is a little bit more upscale which wasn’t really a concern for us or an issue. It definitely seemed nice, but it was also more money. It is near a busy street, but its right up to a park which was a really big deal; that was really nice.

Brookdale Plaza Glen Ellyn was the first one we saw for my uncle, and it was very nice. Their rooms were way too small. However, the place was very attractive and very nice if you went into it. Everyone was lovely. The lots where the buildings are were very nice. They have little garden areas and places to sit and be entertained.

I took a tour of this facility, looking for a place for my Dad to live. It was very clean and looked like they had a lot of activities to offer. I liked that the monthly rental fee includes a lot - like housekeeping, 2 meals a day and transportation (local). The studio apartment was very small and the kitchen slightly dated - but still bright and had good closet space. The staff was friendly, saw them calling all the residents by name.

My father-in-law has been in here for at least a little over a week now. This community offers independent living and assisted living options. It is a really nice place. It is also very clean. It is a five-storey building that looks like a hotel and when you walk in, there is an elevator. There are a gazillion of activities for older people living there. They also have personalized assisted living options. So if you're in independent living and you need some assistance but you don't need the full assisted-living assistance, you can order things ala carte. My father-in-law seems to like it there and it seems like a good fit for him right now.
