"We went to visit Jennings Terrace but my mother-in-law didn't care for it. I like the open space they have. I'm glad they have many activities and 24-hour care. You can have a double room, which is like a small living space plus your bedroom, and then the other one was just your bedroom. They may have some furnishings, but mostly, you bring everything you need. The tour was good and the staff answered all my questions. They offered us meals but we had other appointments. They have a courtyard and chairs and benches outside, it's a very nice setup with the gazebo."

"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"We visited GreenFields and it was actually pretty decent. It was relatively new and it was good with fresh paints and all the amenities. The rooms were quite adequate, bright and nice. I would not have a problem bringing my mother to that facility. "

"My aunt and uncle shared a room in the nusing unit of the health care wing for two years. The staff was very caring and engaging. They encouraged them to join activities; and several family day social events were held during the year. The rooms were very clean, but needed updating. We chose this facility because it is run by the Franciscan Sisters and is part of the Catholic Archdioses. Mass was held every Sunday morning in the chapel, and is also televised. Overall, I was very happy with the staff and got to know many of them. Anytime I had a concern about my aunt or uncle, the head nurse and nurse on duty would address it immediately. "

"Chateau Nursing and Rehab in Willowbrook IL My 93 yr old Mother is currently living at this facility on Medicaid. She's been there in a shared room for 6 months now. I feel blessed because she was admitted thru Medicaid pending (took 3 months for Medicaid approval) and although we have gone thru the initial struggles at first, I can honestly say they are trying their best to meet her daily needs. There are many teams in this facility which are located in the building which is great because I've needed to work with each at a point. It's pretty much routine for mom since she's now used to a nursing home ( as opposed to a self pay assisted living). There are activities each day for the floors, three meals a day, and don't think of a nursing home with clients laying in bed moaning all day...that's not what this has to offer. They cut her hair, van will take to dr appointments, clip nails, eye checks, and hearing checks. Plus many other needs. Also, The CNA and nurses are on top of her activities of daily living and the fact I'm there 3 days a week to " make sure" all is being done and point out issues that can be overlooked... I would say it's a place to be proud to make it her home."

"My mom is doing okay at Briar Place. But I'm a little concerned because I don't think there's as much attention given to the patients as there should be. I found that the staff members are not invested in what's going on there. When I first went there, I was impressed with the lobby, but once I got inside, I would rate it a 1. I think they had activities. Usually, when I visit, it's late in the evening, so my mom is already in her room. But they have a TV in the dining hall, and I see a lot of people just sitting around watching TV for the most part."

"My dad was in the BRIA of Westmont for rehab. It was OK. It seemed like it was run ok. It wasn't the top facility, but it wasn't the worst I believe. Some people are nice. They're understaffed, they had a lot on their plate, they were OK. My dad said the food was bland. It was like a hotel that they redid into a senior center type, small hotel, or something like that. That's what it looked like."

"The staff at Burgess Square is very caring and very tolerant. The place is fairly well kept. My mother-in-law was there for a short respite time. The patients don't appear to be very happy at all. I don't know if they were understaffed. In terms of where I am, it is in a good location, but there is never any parking available. If you are there on the weekend, you have to park on the street because parking is not good. "

"Being indecisive about leaving a house and considering independent living was difficult. But, I did make the decision to move and find myself very happy here at Oak Trace. It’s been a great move. I have made many friends and share many activities with them. You find yourself as busy as you wish to be. We’re a happy group at Oak Trace, and definitely worth a visit. Come see us. Oh, and important to note, we have very good food here!"

"During my visit at Lexington Health Care Center, I received a tour of both the skilled nursing and long-term care areas. The staff member who guided my tour informed me that this center was focusing on becoming primarily a skilled nursing facility and would no longer be offering long-term care services in the future. The facility has a beautiful interior, with minor renovations being performed during my visit there to further improve its appearance. The facility is located near a busy road among several other buildings and businesses, however, so the common areas outside of the facility are small and potentially not accessible to all patients and residents. The rehabilitation department utilizes technologically-advanced equipment, devices, and treatment approaches and appear to interact well among one another as well as with patients. The dining hall is clean, large, and open. The majority of the staff members there were very welcoming and friendly to me. The pieces of furniture included in the patients' rooms are clean, maximize the available space within the rooms, and are coordinated well with the calming color schemes of the rooms as well as the facility itself. In my opinion and compared to other facilities with which I am familiar, the patient rooms seem somewhat small in size, especially if the room has 3 beds. All of the patients I saw and those with whom I interacted appeared happy and content with this facility and all it has to offer. "

"My mother was a patient at manorcare. She was going to have 2 weeks of physical therapy and then home.,but her dementia got worse and we knew that was not going work. She received excellent care, thanks to the staff who were always respectful, and the manager Victoria She is so caring about not only one person but all the patients. She really put my mom at ease when she left. I also wanted to say that Steve is the best representative of your business. The first thing you see is his smiling face, he is also very nice about answering your questions. I have come to realize that when you see happy, efficient employees, they have a good hands on manager like Victoria! "

"My mom, Marcelline G, was a 3rd floor resident for over 2 years. She had progressing dementia and Parkinson's. The staff took excellent care of her, and despite the pandemic, I received regular reports on her condition-even when nothing had changed. Whenever I visited, she and her room were always clean. Despite her lack of engagement in any activity, she was always included in the day room, and often had a nice manicure! When her condition deteriorated rapidly, the staff was in constant contact with me, and I was allowed full access to her with Covid precautions. My heartfelt thanks to Pat, Cici, and the staff of the 3rd floor. Also to Michael in Patient Services and Dimas in Administration for helping us navigate through a difficult time. "

"In general, Manorcare of Westmont was good but I had some serious concerns about their level of skill with catheters. I learned a lot just going around the internet and asking around about the proper catheter care, cleanliness, and best practices, and they did not follow them and complicated things. I thought their physical therapy was great. My father had been there three separate times and did so well with the physical therapy. My mother was there for a short time, too, but we transferred her out of there quickly. While she was there, she caught C. diff. She was just at a very low point there, but we thought there should have been extra care given to her situation. As far as transferring from one patient to another, I didn’t see much care. When we went in there, we had to wear gloves and gowns, but then the physician’s assistant would come in, and she’d be touching the bedding and she’d say she was a professional. I have since found out about C. diff being rampant over there, and if had we had any idea about that, I don’t know that we would have brought her there. They did not test her for a UTI, and we told them there was a good chance that she was still having a UTI. She nearly died because she had C. diff and a UTI at the same time. It felt like had I not raised the red flag, I don’t know if they would have sent her to the ER. I was stunned by their laid-back attitude. The food looked more colorful but I thought it was incredibly not nutritional. There wasn’t a fresh vegetable or fruit in sight. Everything had gravy on it. "
