My mom is doing okay at Briar Place. But I'm a little concerned because I don't think there's as much attention given to the patients as there should be. I found that the staff members are not invested in what's going on there. When I first went there, I was impressed with the lobby, but once I got inside, I would rate it a 1. I think they had activities. Usually, when I visit, it's late in the evening, so my mom is already in her room. But they have a TV in the dining hall, and I see a lot of people just sitting around watching TV for the most part.

Briar Place should be shut down!!! This place is dirty, smells awful and very run down. My friend is there doing PT after a hospital stay. She is in a room with 2 other patients suffering from mental illness. I do not feel safe being in the same room with these patients. Rehab patients should not be in the same room as patients with mental illness. Police are called frequently for physical altercations - including her roommate! Briar family should spend one night in their own facility!

This place could not be worse. It is building is beyond rundown. This is made worse by the fact that it is never cleaned. So hot the floors are "sweating" wet and unsafe. The staff does a little as possible and just about everyone leaves everyday by 2pm. They miss medicine doses. They miss feedings. Food is slop but since the majority of patients are disable I guess they get away with serving them that. Activities, you ask? Patients are given a crayon and a piece of paper to color. No physical nor occupational therapy. No maintenance at all on weekends. This place could not be worse.

Staff answer phones and hang us and make up reasons my friend can not come to phone. Tried 16 times in 4 days to get through and continually got hung up on. Asked to talk to administration and was told they are all gone by 4 pm. My friend has not been showered in over 12 days. With the virus it makes it difficult to check on him. Only thing to do is let ILlinois Abuse and neglect get involved. Sad place for my friend

This facility is by far the most unprofessional nursing homes in Illinois. I'm so scared that they would even let this place exist. My Aunt has had her phone, necklace, and her credit card stolen!(later used next door to their facility for gas purchase) someone needs to investigate this place please, I'm currently reaching out to local news broadcasters, writer an investigation agencies! We the people must speak out for those who can't !AMEN

My grandpa is in Briar Place. He suffers from dementia. It's not severe, but there are times I feel they take advantage of him. Many times, when I visit him, he isn't wearing his own clothing. I have no idea whose clothes they are. Also, he's had items stolen. He had a watch that he wore from World War II. He no longer has it. I don't like that the residents are allowed to go on the porch and smoke. Many residents are on oxygen, and sometimes they go outside at the same time as a resident who is smoking. My grandpa should not be smoking in a nursing home either. After all, it is a hospital. My grandpa seems happy, but I cry when I leave him, but I don't think he can understand enough about what's going on around him. I will always wonder what happened to his watch.
