Nursing Home Communities in La Grange Park, IL

"I went to Addolorata Villa. It was a very pleasant tour. It was an older building than the other one. Because I am a Catholic, it offered the religious services that I would like. The woman giving the tour kind of focused on activities and seemed interested in learning what my interests and hobbies were to make sure that we were making a good fit and I think it could be. I felt they had a very good activity schedule that you could be as busy 24/7 if you cared to be. There was a very pleasant large deck-type area where they have the raised beds for gardening, which appeal to me. I don't do any gardening at my home because I can't get down on my hands and knees, so I thought that was nice and pleasant. It's a very pretty campus. It kind of reminded me of a college campus. We were thereafter lunchtime. We weren't offered a meal, but she offered beverages and snacks and brought a large basket of snacks in while we were talking."

"Jennings Terrace was more like a nursing facility. The apartments were two rooms, a bedroom, and a small living room. There's a community shower, and that was unacceptable. The facility was nice. They provide three meals a day because these guys need assistance. I don't need the assisted living aspect of the apartment I'm looking for. The community shower is a turnoff to me. They were having lunch when I got there and everybody seemed very cordial, enjoying themselves. The problem is it's way too small. We couldn't even get one-tenth of our furniture in the place. If a person needed assisted living, I would recommend a place such as this. Everything was up to par as far as cleanliness and cordialness. It was just the size of the apartment and the apartment arrangement, too small a bedroom and living area. They have a medical facility attached to the place. They have common areas, and they're very clean and cordial. If I was by myself needing medical attention and needed assistance, I probably would have no problem living there. They've got a nondenominational religious chapel. They had room to play cards, just to socialize. They had a main dining room. Everybody seemed comfortable and I don't think there's any problem with the facility except it's not what I'm looking for."

"I went to GreenFields in Geneva for a tour over two years ago. It was very clean and the apartments were very nice, but it was not really a place that I would be interested in because the hallways reminded me too much of a hotel. The staff was very good, very personable, and answered all of my questions. We talked to someone about the activities too. I remember that they had a beauty shop for the hair, and a big laundry room. I didn't really find anything negative there. We also had a meal there, and the food was really good, very well-prepared, and the dining room was also very nice."

"My sister is at the Meadowbrook LaGrange nursing home. They have 2 large parking spaces, one especially for the doctors and then the other one for the visitors. I noticed that and I liked it even though I got lost the first time I was there. My sister's room is very, very nice. It has a shower, and a bathroom with a sink even though she doesn't use it because she cannot walk. It's all very clean. There's a bed and two windows in the room, and it's nice and big. They have nice nurses. There are a lot of people in and out of her room all the time too for medication or therapy. She's very happy there. The place is very clean, the employees are very kind, and everybody there is so nice."

"My mom, Marcelline G, was a 3rd floor resident for over 2 years. She had progressing dementia and Parkinson's. The staff took excellent care of her, and despite the pandemic, I received regular reports on her condition-even when nothing had changed. Whenever I visited, she and her room were always clean. Despite her lack of engagement in any activity, she was always included in the day room, and often had a nice manicure! When her condition deteriorated rapidly, the staff was in constant contact with me, and I was allowed full access to her with Covid precautions. My heartfelt thanks to Pat, Cici, and the staff of the 3rd floor. Also to Michael in Patient Services and Dimas in Administration for helping us navigate through a difficult time. "

"During my visit at Lexington Health Care Center, I received a tour of both the skilled nursing and long-term care areas. The staff member who guided my tour informed me that this center was focusing on becoming primarily a skilled nursing facility and would no longer be offering long-term care services in the future. The facility has a beautiful interior, with minor renovations being performed during my visit there to further improve its appearance. The facility is located near a busy road among several other buildings and businesses, however, so the common areas outside of the facility are small and potentially not accessible to all patients and residents. The rehabilitation department utilizes technologically-advanced equipment, devices, and treatment approaches and appear to interact well among one another as well as with patients. The dining hall is clean, large, and open. The majority of the staff members there were very welcoming and friendly to me. The pieces of furniture included in the patients' rooms are clean, maximize the available space within the rooms, and are coordinated well with the calming color schemes of the rooms as well as the facility itself. In my opinion and compared to other facilities with which I am familiar, the patient rooms seem somewhat small in size, especially if the room has 3 beds. All of the patients I saw and those with whom I interacted appeared happy and content with this facility and all it has to offer. "

"First time every placing a love one in a nusing home. This one place really put you in a home away from home setting. It's clean, and will secure inside for it patients and staff. The areas outside peaceful even doe the subrounding are a little busy. The staff very helpful and pleasent. And the meals look just enjoyable. "

"We have been to Oakridge Nursing & Rehab Center. It was very dark. It seemed a very dismal place. There were four people in a room, which I thought was a bit much. They were noticeably understaffed, so it wouldn't be a place that I would recommend. There were four in a room, and they were divided by shower curtains. They were average-sized rooms. The staff was honest. They provided an honest assessment for me. I think they were helpful. It was a small facility. I saw the dining area, and that was kind of it. They didn't offer a lot of amenities. There was no exercise room, and there was no activity center. I met with the tour person who sometimes doubles as the cook and sometimes gives people showers. I just think they need to brighten up the place. They probably need to have a few more offerings in terms of activities and things for their residents. I was greeted with kind of an odor, so they need to work on some sanitizing, too."

"My grandma was in this facility for about six months before she passed away. It was always clean and the staff was very friendly. They recognized family members and were always kind to us. My grandma seemed to enjoy the food on the days that she felt like eating. The staff was kind to her and were able to give us details like she was speaking polish the morning she died. They had activities for the people that were able to take part in them. I believe that she was well cared for. I appreciate the staff and management of Manor Care. "

"My mom is doing okay at Briar Place. But I'm a little concerned because I don't think there's as much attention given to the patients as there should be. I found that the staff members are not invested in what's going on there. When I first went there, I was impressed with the lobby, but once I got inside, I would rate it a 1. I think they had activities. Usually, when I visit, it's late in the evening, so my mom is already in her room. But they have a TV in the dining hall, and I see a lot of people just sitting around watching TV for the most part."

"The facility is nicely kept and is very inviting on the outside. The grounds and landscape are really nice and make you want to go inside. The lobby and the people that work at the front are very nice and always greet you at the door. The medical staff is knowledge and compassionate. All the rooms for the residents are very nicely kept. I was very impressed with the amenities for the residents. They have a movie theater, a salon for men and women, and a large and beautiful dining room. "

"My mom is in the memory care of The Pearl of Hillside. The staff takes care of her very well. They clean her room, check everything, and make sure she is fed three times a day. She eats all of her food too. What I like the most is that it's a very secure zone. She likes to wander around, but she can't do it there, because they have a device on her ankles that she wears that sets off an alarm if she goes out. So, the security is very good for me. They have church services, all the nurses interact with the residents, they play music for them, and watch TV. They have a patio that's not very clean though. There were spiderwebs all over it and the tables were not up to par, but other than that, the security and everything is good."
