"Three Crown Park was quite nice, but it was also much more expensive. It was convenient. It had a very nice library. It was pleasant. The dining area was really nice and bright. They had lots of food choices. They had lots of activities. The residents liked Three Crown Park a lot. They had a pool and a craft room. They had a doctor on site. "

"Hearthwood Senior Living had a full range of services, from you know, three days a week meals if you wanted them, complete apartments of various sizes, and reasonable monthly rents or fees, and no entrance fee. That was a big deal. As many places do, they had craft rooms, a library, and a swimming pool. The staff was wonderful, and the people were active, very friendly, and welcoming. It's very clean, and they have a new owner, so they're undergoing a remodeling with new carpeting and new woodwork, and so forth. We toured for independent living, but it's a continuous care community, so there is a wing for rehab or for more assisted living if you need it."

"Holmstead is very convenient to where my wife and I live. I like the idea that they had options for care at different levels as a person's condition change and start to need more assistance. The facility itself is very, very nice. It's a large campus right across the street from a river, so they have a very nice piece of real estate. The facility is beautiful. Everyone that I've met there is absolutely committed to care. My father's been there now well over a year. I would absolutely recommend them. "

"It is a faith-based community -- which is important to us -- and they're taking very good care of my husband. It's run by the Franciscan communities. They have a mass there everyday which he really likes. They have several buildings; it's on 17 acres, and it's a big place, but I'm only familiar with the memory care place. The staff was very friendly and very outgoing, and they really do a fine job as far as I'm concerned. The meals are good. He has a very nice room, and he can have his own furniture in his room. They have a lot of outings that they take him to with the other residents. We've been very pleased with Addolorata Villa. "

"Plymouth place, located in LaGrange, Illinois, is a recently-updated facility. My drandfather was a resident there for almost 10 years before his death in 2010. At first I thought it was upsetting to have a family member in a nursing home. It had originally scared me to think that my loved one was nearing death. Plymouth Place was a very inviting place that put all those fears to rest. They are a full in-house care center, and all of the staff are very friendly. There are a variety of different activities for the elderly to participate in, and there are different activities for those with different ability levels. Some even invited family members to participate in. Eventually, some of the staff knew my family by name, and we ended up staying in close contact with some of them even after my grandfather died. We still get Christmas cards from them. In conclusion, I believe that Plymouth Place is one of the finest nursing home and care facilities in the Midwest. "

"My mom was here. I like that they were able to meet my mom's needs. They do have activities, but unfortunately with the condition of my mom, she is not able to participate in that. The staff was good, and they were friendly. The room was good, and it was clean. My mom did not eat a whole lot, but it seemed to be good, and they seemed to have good choice. "

"I went to King-Bruwaert House. It's a beautiful, spectacular place that I've known since I was a child. It's beautiful. Beautiful architecture, beautiful trees, beautiful buildings. It's as wonderful as any place could be. I volunteered there. It is in my neighborhood. I've known about it since I was probably seven years old when I was a little Girl Scout. I sang Christmas carols to the old ladies. Now I'm going to be one of the old ladies. A salesman showed me the proposed layout. They've not completed building the apartments yet, and we took a little tour of the area. I've not seen the apartment that I'm going to be living in yet. It's still under construction. The food is fantastic. I've been there for parties. It's fantastic food. They have regular exercise and chair exercise for six days. They have an art room, a gym, a movie theater, and a library. They have a chapel. I guess the only thing they don't have is just a swimming pool, which I would not use anyway. It's a very, very expensive place."

"My mother moved into Oak Trace. She has been there in the past, and we decided to continue there. It's a very good experience, the staff is very friendly, very caring, and professional. They recently opened a new health center for their assisted, memory care, and nursing home, so everything is brand new. They're very modern, which is so surprising; the apartments in the independent living are up to date. The lounge is really great, and pretty straightforward for what people need. This would be a strong place to consider if you can still live independently, but you know you'll need a different level of care over time, because it allows for that continuum. It's all right there, it's a small campus, and for this population, it's sufficient for what they offer."

"Beacon Hill was bright and cheery. The staff was very friendly. The apartments were very light and bright, but they weren't as spacious as I would have liked. They had many amenities, like a lot of dining areas, a pool, an exercise room, and a large conference area. The facility was very clean, open, and airy. The residents seemed very happy and were very expressive about their happiness to be living in this facility. They were very friendly."

"After our search for the right nursing home, we moved into Central Baptist Village. She is in Memory Care and I am into Independent living. The care and kindness of the staff, from the top down, have exceeded our expectations. The food is excellent, well presented and served lovingly. The grounds are lovely and peaceful. The entire complex is well cared for. "

"This facility is located on the north side of chicago it serves a population of adults who have been diagnoised with a developmental disability. They only provide services to female residents. While there I noticed some of the residents were sharing a room. They have a full clinical staff that provides services to the residents 24 hrs a day. the meals are prepared by the staff, and on special occassions and when doing food activites, the staff will allow the residents to assist in the preparation of the meals. The facility is clean, and well-maintained. The staff is very hands on, and the residents seem to have a closeness with one another. In general, I would rank this facility a 4 out of 5 stars. "

"Smith Village was beautiful and very clean. It was an excellent facility but it didn't accept Mom's Medicare. That was the whole hang up. Everything else was good about it. The staff was all good. It had a variety of things to do, variety of restaurants, variety of area. It's a huge place. They had about six to eight dining rooms. The dining rooms looked like they were very clean with a variety of food and specialized in diet. The rooms were very clean, well maintained and spacious. "

"Paul House & Health Care Center looks like it was very nice, and it was big. The problem was they were too expensive. They came in over $10,000 for semi-private ,and that was too much. Otherwise, I would have been comfortable putting my mother there. I saw their therapy area, it certainly looked like they had everything that she would need. I like the person who gave us the tour. Before we did the tour, we sat down and talked to her. She wanted to know more about my mother and explained what the benefits were from Paul House. The rooms were nice. They had big rooms, where they had groupings or you could get out of your room and go sit in a nice area. They had a nice dining room. They said they had activities for the residents, but I didn't see a schedule or anything. They had a garden where the residents could go out when the weather was nice. The person who gave us the tour was very qualified. She was very good, so I was impressed with them. She really took her time. She told us all about the place and how it works with the residents. One thing is, they had a very small parking lot. It meant you had a park on the street, which in Chicago is no small feat. It was a turnoff as well. It was a very small parking lot. It almost looks like it's just staff parking."
