Beacon Hill was ridiculous in its price. Their place on the inside looked dirty, and I didn't like the set-up they had. The carpeting was very dirty. The room was nice, except it was all carpeted. I don't like that they have carpeting. I also don't like the patio windows that go out into the balcony. I had patio windows, and in the winter, they got very cold and there was no place to put anything. It cuts the room in half. It's not laid up very well. And I didn't like the idea that they had this poor dog chained up there. They say it's for the patients. The dog is chained all day long, and that's ridiculous. There is like the workout room, and some of the stuff, which was not very nice. They don't seem to have too much there in terms of activities. And the place looked old and dirty.

I love, love, love living here at Beacon Hill. Living here is one of the BEST decisions I've made. The most spectacular feature here are the residents. I have been here almost one year and have made many friends. Each individual I see is pleasant, sharing kind comments and providing information that I made not know about. They've all been approachable. Additionally there are so many, many activities that it's tough to decide what's the best one for me. There are endless opportunities to become involved. The ambiance added to my decision. When my guests arrive for visits, they are astounded at the warm atmsophere, the inviting environment. The food is beyond discription. Just yesterday I reported to the culinary department that in my 80 years, I have never tasted the turkey meal offered that day. You don't like turkey? There are four-five entres from which to choose. Fish is always available. The soups are thick and tasty. The desserts are plentiful and scrumptious. The staff is gracious, accessible, kind, patient and ordinarily responsive to requests or information. We have a full exercise room and a swimming pool. Beacon Hill is an outstanding and a five-star senior independent living community.

I am a very happy resident in Independent Living here in Beacon Hill, Lombard IL. I was drawn by the fact that Medicare and IDPH both give 5-star ratings to our Health Center. I found exactly the right place for me to age gracefully, with physical and social support. FYI, we spent 5 years studying 12 retirement communities before selecting Beacon Hill in Lombard, head & shoulders above the rest. I think people should shop around -- just make sure you include Beacon Hill in your search. Visitors have told me they can see and feel our community's friendly and energetic "personality." I invite you to check us out. Talk with Mark; he's extremely knowledgeable. And, if you want to talk further with me, Mark can connect us. Welcome! Ann

The apartments are varied in size and amenities. We love ours. Interactions with the other residents her is amazing. They are the friendliest people I've met. We have a great staff, assisting the residents here, for our needs and serving in the dining areas. The grounds are beautiful, and there are so many activities, it's impossible to be involved in all of them.

I have a roomy one-bedroom apartment and love it. The space is perfect for one person. There are many activities to choose from including exercise sessions 5 times a week. My favorites activities include bridge, pinochle and book club. The meal plan gives us many choices in 3 different dining venues. This is the friendliest place to live. I'm so glad I moved here.

I've visited Beacon Hill four times for a total of about 15 hours. The people who had seen me said, "I hope you'll move here because we live here and we like it." I liked it because the people were so friendly. The food is terrific. They have the former chef from the Hancock Building of the Signature Room and he's very happy to work there. The food is delicious in the main dining room. The people were very friendly. They've got a lot of activities. The building was very nice inside, but the apartments that I wanted seemed to face the expressway or Finley Road, which is fairly busy but not as bad as the expressway, so I had to decide if I was going to take a smaller apartment that doesn't face those or with a courtyard view or just pick Finley Road. I'm really sensitive to noise, so I don't like that. That's about the only thing I don't like about it. They take people to different areas for shopping and doctors. The common areas are nice. They've got a much larger gym than the other places did. They've got another smaller gym and a big swimming pool. The apartments are not off of one long hall. They're clustered in groups of ten. They call it wings, so even though there are more people there, I think you get more of a friendship with your neighbors. It's my favorite choice. If you want assisted living and stay in your own apartment, you have to hire somebody for like a half hour to three or four hours. That costs more, but you don't have to go to a separate place. The salesperson was great.

Beacon Hill was bright and cheery. The staff was very friendly. The apartments were very light and bright, but they weren't as spacious as I would have liked. They had many amenities, like a lot of dining areas, a pool, an exercise room, and a large conference area. The facility was very clean, open, and airy. The residents seemed very happy and were very expressive about their happiness to be living in this facility. They were very friendly.

They are great at making sure residents have enough sleep, and have good hygiene. On the nights she gets a shower, she is done by 6:30 pm. so she can go to bed. Sometime's they let her sleep in till 9:00 am. They were so thoughtful, when they lost her hearing aids, the second time. She still had a set, no one would notice, they didn't match. And they are so respectful of pride of ownership. They let mom pay for the replacements. Most of the time, when I come to visit, they promptly answer her request call with in 15 to 20 minutes.

Health Center has some 5 star RN's and some that need a lot of education and training. Patients in the Health Center definitely need an advocate to assure the family everything is being done correctly.

My mother currently lives in the BH Health Care Center. She is basically at the mercy of others for her mobility and her general well-being. When she became ill, she was put into isolation and was not taken care of properly. She became so dehydrated that she ended up in the hospital with a raging urinary tract infection and anemia in addition to the dehydration. No one on the CNA team reported her lack of urination or hydration until her condition became alarming. After 5 days in the hospital, she is now in the medicare wing where she is given very good care. The therapies available through Medicare are outstanding and she is beginning to perk up a bit again. We have learned our lesson. No one watches out for a loved one like family. Check on your loved one often.

My parents are going to Beacon Hill. They're moving into an independent living apartment. The very best thing is that if and when my parents need assisted living, they do not need to move into an assisted living apartment. Assisted living comes to their apartment. Most of the other places, you go in as independent living, then you move to assisted living, and then you move to nursing home. This particular facility does not have that extra move. They have all levels of care, and the only time that my parents will have to move is if they need skilled nursing care. With regards to the staff, the longevity of the staff at this place beats any place that I was at, and they are the friendliest, warmest people that I have ever talked to. In talking to the residents, everyone says that the staff bends over backwards to help them. We just had dinner there yesterday, and the food was delicious. Food is wonderful. They have great choices on the menu. They have a big salad bar and a lovely dining room. You can be served at the table, or you can go to the buffet type of thing and they'll serve you. You can request the size of your portions. There is a dining room and a café, so the eating is just great in this place.

At Beacon Hill, the staff is very nice and very helpful. They have a tremendous amount of things for the people to do inside and outside of the building. They have concerts inside there. The food is great. They have an indoor pool. I liked that they are very friendly. I liked that there is versatility and a lot of things to do. The place is kept up very well. It is clean, neat, and well organized.

Beacon Hill, a continuing care community, offers companionship and activities for my mother. She gets one meal a day. She liked it ( her choice) initially because she was able to move into a spacious apt and not get rid of lots of stuff. Now that she is losing mobility we wish she were somewhere that offered her 3 meals and a personalized care plan like the assisted living places. We have had to hire some outside help to ensure her continuity of care. Eventually she may need to move to the "health care center" -- too nursing home-ish for our taste.

Pleasant service with above average living arrangements for my parent. Pleased with the facility and the services that are provided. On-site medical care is a major determining factor.

The staff at Beacon Hill is extremely friendly. They greeted my grandparents enthusiastically and were very knowledgeable about what the facility offered. Every staff member we passed on our tour greeted us by name. The rooms are small, but big enough for an elderly couple. Beacon Hill offers meals and a transportation service, which is nice since my grandparents no longer drive. They offer regular activities like Bingo and Garden Club, and regularly bring in high school students to volunteer and visit with the residents. Beacon Hill has an assisted living facility and a nursing home on site. This is great for couples like my grandparents who might find them selves with one person needed more substantial care than the other. Beacon Hill is also affordable, and they work with Social Security and Medicare to help residents afford their facility. Beacon Hill has a small wait list, but they communicate well with the residents to keep them informed as to when they might be able to move in.

This facility was where we took my grandmother for her full time assisted care and then end stage care when she was no longer ambulatory. I have a lot of experiences in and out of assisted living facilities being a retired Paramedic and by far this facility exceeded my expectations and hopes. The facility was always clean, the staff was very attentive and understanding of the patients and families needs. My grandmother had severe dementia and had very short term memory and they showed nothing but patience and compassion. At the end, the staff was with us to the end, comforting and caring both to my grandmother and to our entire family and even afterwards, helping with the greiving process. Should the day come where my child needs to place me in an assisted living facility, I surely hope that she would choose Beacon Hill for me.

I actually volunteered at the dementia care facilities four years ago. The staff I worked with were incredibly kind to the residents, and of course, very helpful as well. It took me a while to "get used" to the environment, but I soon warmed up to the residents, nursing room "smell" and overall surroundings. While the extent of the dementia varied with each resident, I was able to communicate well with each of them. Many of them were very kind, and also seemed very happy or content living in Beacon Hill. I enjoyed coming to volunteer every day. After, I was moved to other areas of the home. While working in the dining hall for residents, I noticed that many of the residents were still very lively and communicative. They entertained each other in a way that was reminiscent of my high school or college days. To be honest, all the images I painted in my mind of what it would be like to live in a home were completely gone by my first day working at Beacon Hill. It's a wonderful place to live, visit, and volunteer.

My father has lived here for a year, his initial adjustment was difficult and the staff were excellent/supportive in helping me/him through this process and transitioning him to less intensive services when the time was right. He currently is living in an apartment with AIL support. They offer a myriad of social activities, both internally and out in the community, which he loves. They have always been responsive to my questions and concerns. The other residents are friendly too and his needs are met in a timely fashion
