Nursing Home Communities in Lombard, IL

"I toured Marian Village. They were a little less expensive, but the place itself just seemed so vibrant, alive, energetic, and bright. The place seemed very new and very updated. When you walked in, you were welcomed by the person at the front desk. The price, I think we could handle. The tough part is they require an entrance fee of $90,000. I have noticed reviews that are not too high, but when I did the tour, they had like a little bistro, and some residents were having omelets and things like that, and the food smelled amazing. They have a lot of events. They had a nice exercise room. They had laundry on each floor and seemed to have more dining areas. They give 400 points per month, and each point is equal to a dollar. You can use those points in the cafeteria or the dining area, and they don't carry over to the next month. They kind of give you an allotment, and then if you go over that, you start to pay. Mary Beth gave me the tour. She knew all the residents. She's very good and very thorough. Everything was so clean. There wasn't a spot on the carpeting. There wasn't a whole lot of carpeting. There was more of the vinyl plank flooring type of things. The dining room was set for dinner, and they had cloth napkins, glasses, and silverware. Everything seemed to be clean. Throughout the whole tour inside the rooms, in the laundry rooms, or the dining area, there was no stale odor or anything like that as you toured it. It was very clean, not like bleach clean or anything like that. It was just a fresh, clean environment."

"My mother will be moving into GreenFields of Geneva. We chose it mostly because of the location. It's very close to one of my other siblings. She'll be going to memory care. I like that there was a separate dining area like each area was separate. It looked like a smaller dining space for memory care and the unit itself was in a U-shape. They have nursing staff available 24 hours a day. The staff during the tour was great. She gave us a lot of information, was upfront, and has helped us through this process as we are starting the move. What they had to offer in terms of activities and the availability of physical therapy and speech therapy is five stars. We have to have a doctor prescribe that, but it's nice that it could be onsite."

"I have briefly visited other nursing homes and assisted living facilities and I think this is one of the best. My mother visits almost every day, though, and I know that's one way to make sure that your relatives are well taken care of...The staff is always friendly and willing to make accommodations in the residents' schedules for visitors. For all residents, both those on the 8th floor (mainly dementia patients, some rehab) and on the lower floors (mainly in their own apartments with mini-kitchens), there are daily activities. For those who are mobile, there are frequent outings. Book club, story groups, bingo, exercise, ice cream socials...there's also a beautiful roof deck and indoor sitting area on the top floor with many couches and large windows overlooking Lake Michigan. Most residents dine together and food seems decent downstairs from what I've seen. The food on the 8th floor is pretty basic cafeteria style food, not so good. "

"I like that Addolorata Villa feels like a family community. I like that the residents were out setting up some of the Christmas decorations and the chef stopped to talk to us and there was a guy who mans the gym area like he's there all day. It's just a nice feature. The staff was very friendly. It was clean. One of the drawbacks is that it's kind of spread out. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I only saw two-bedroom rooms and they looked comfortable."

"My dad is currently in the skilled nursing building of Lexington Health Care Center of Lombard. It's across the parking lot of the independent and assisted living community. He's been there a while, and he has received very good care. I think they're nice people though I think my dad's kind of a pain to deal with. They've done a good job. He started out there in nursing rehab and technically he's still there. With insurance, they wanna kick you out after a certain number of days, but he's now accepted on Medicaid. He was being provided physical therapy to help him recover after a septic infection that diminished his ability to walk. He's kinda getting help with daily living aspects. I think he's generally pretty happy there. From what I've seen, it's clean and organized, and they have a little reception room near the front door where you can have window visits on a pre-scheduled basis. My dad does not like the food there; it's pretty much all the same with other places."

"I love, love, love living here at Beacon Hill. Living here is one of the BEST decisions I've made. The most spectacular feature here are the residents. I have been here almost one year and have made many friends. Each individual I see is pleasant, sharing kind comments and providing information that I made not know about. They've all been approachable. Additionally there are so many, many activities that it's tough to decide what's the best one for me. There are endless opportunities to become involved. The ambiance added to my decision. When my guests arrive for visits, they are astounded at the warm atmsophere, the inviting environment. The food is beyond discription. Just yesterday I reported to the culinary department that in my 80 years, I have never tasted the turkey meal offered that day. You don't like turkey? There are four-five entres from which to choose. Fish is always available. The soups are thick and tasty. The desserts are plentiful and scrumptious. The staff is gracious, accessible, kind, patient and ordinarily responsive to requests or information. We have a full exercise room and a swimming pool. Beacon Hill is an outstanding and a five-star senior independent living community."

"My mother is at Providence Healthcare and Rehabilitation. It's a really good facility. Had I known about it before going to the other place, I would have put her in there if they had space available for her. They're trying to get my mom to walk again. They're very attentive. She doesn't feed herself anymore, so they assist her and feed her. She's always being changed and kept clean. The facility itself is very clean. With the exception of one staff member, their services are great, the nursing staff, food service, pretty much everything. I tasted some of my mom's food and it's good. Her food has to be grinded up, so she's getting vegetables, meat, and protein. She's given a dessert and she's given choices of drink, milk, lemonade, water, or cranberry juice. The food is good. It's something that I would eat myself. They have bingo, outdoor facilities, a courtyard, and a nice seating area where families can take the resident out, enjoy a walk or get sunshine if you want to wheel them out there in their wheelchair, which my mom is in. We have done it and it's a spacious area for more than five or six families at a time."

"i was looking for a place for my dad to come because he needed a locations for occupational therapy. My dad was having issues with his legs so he needed to find a location that would be able to help him and get to the point where he could get his strength back so he could walk unassisted. They were really helpful and nice when we came in. They gave us a tour of the place and we were really impressed! "

"Bella Terra Elmhurst has been a wonderful place for my mother. Her room was always very clean and well-maintained, which gave us great peace of mind. The staff is incredibly friendly and took such good care of her, treating her with kindness and respect. It truly feels like they care about each resident, and that made a big difference for our family. Highly recommend!"

"In general, Manorcare of Westmont was good but I had some serious concerns about their level of skill with catheters. I learned a lot just going around the internet and asking around about the proper catheter care, cleanliness, and best practices, and they did not follow them and complicated things. I thought their physical therapy was great. My father had been there three separate times and did so well with the physical therapy. My mother was there for a short time, too, but we transferred her out of there quickly. While she was there, she caught C. diff. She was just at a very low point there, but we thought there should have been extra care given to her situation. As far as transferring from one patient to another, I didn’t see much care. When we went in there, we had to wear gloves and gowns, but then the physician’s assistant would come in, and she’d be touching the bedding and she’d say she was a professional. I have since found out about C. diff being rampant over there, and if had we had any idea about that, I don’t know that we would have brought her there. They did not test her for a UTI, and we told them there was a good chance that she was still having a UTI. She nearly died because she had C. diff and a UTI at the same time. It felt like had I not raised the red flag, I don’t know if they would have sent her to the ER. I was stunned by their laid-back attitude. The food looked more colorful but I thought it was incredibly not nutritional. There wasn’t a fresh vegetable or fruit in sight. Everything had gravy on it. "

"My mother started at Park Place in Independent Living for her first 2 years and a few month ago (since Covid) has moved to Assisted Living. As someone suffering from mild (now mild-moderate) dementia, my Mom was not only treated with the upmost respect, she was embraced as part of the Park Place community. She was not eager to make this move but her condition dictated that she not live completely alone and isolated, and Park Place Independent Living was a wonderful place to land. People there (both residents and staff) got to know her and kept an eye on her as her needs changed over time. There is plenty to keep her engaged while keeping her dignity and autonomy, and her apartment was beautiful, spacious and just what she needed. (The food is really good, too!) When the time came, the staff at Park Place was kind and respectful about her needing to move to more help in Assisted Living and heard our concerns and needs as we made this shift during the pandemic. Even with the pandemic restrictions, my Mom is doing great thanks to the staff at Park Place keeping an eye on her needs. Pre or during the pandemic, Park Place has had excellent communication with us at all times. We never feel left in the dark, and they make every effort to keep their residents connected through virtual or in-person visits as rules allowed, and made special accommodations for the holidays. While there is no perfect solution during a pandemic, Park Place has gone above and beyond. I highly recommend looking into them as a continuing care retirement community. My Mom feels safe, we feel like she's safe and cared for, and in this uncertain time, there's not much more we can ask for."

"I was a patient there for 5 1/2 months and the quality of care was amazing, the staff was caring and compassionate to me. During my time there I was in need of physical therapy, dialysis and skilled nursing care. They responded quickly to personal and medical needs as they arose. There are some staff members I would like to thank. First is Anntionette she is the most caring, dedicated person I've met and I was so grateful to herald I will never be able to thank her enough. then there was Abbey,Ramos and aiden a great group of CNA's. Who also provided great care. Then there was my nurse practioner Lindsay. Besides being very knowledgeable in her job she was always in a great mood and willing to help anyone who needed her help. Then there was jayme. Mike, nina, Marisol and Diana. These amazing physical therapists helped me get strong enough to allow me to go home. I will always be endebted to them. Then to Anita, Tammy, Deanna and Pablo you guys are truly wonderful nurses and I thank you. Karen and Joy are great wound care nurse who mastered a challenging dressing. To Valerie, Carla and Sean your facility is Amazing and keep up the great work. All these people I mentioned got me thru the toughest period of Mt life and I recommend this place to anyone in need of care for themselves or a family member I WILL MISS THE PEARL VERY MUCH"

"This is Rehab Facility has been all that I was told it would be, the staff is very nice and caring especially Michelle B. she is very knowledgeable and well informed on what the doctor is doing along with my treatment plan and care. I have been at others but they lack care empathy and respect for pts. and each other. If I could I would give them a 10 star."

"My sister is staying in Oak Trace for long-term skilled nursing. We were impressed with their therapist. They helped her with speech, PT, and occupational therapy. The cleanliness is extremely impressive. We love her room. It's good and independent, not sharing with anybody."
