"I visited Norwood Crossing and toured their assisted living. I liked what I saw, and they seemed to care. The facility looked clean and organized. There is also a fitness center and a hair salon. The dining room looked nice, and the place itself looked very well-maintained. The person who gave the tour was great. She was very nice and helpful."

"We thought St. Joseph's Village was OK. The residents get their food in the dining room area. I believe that there is housekeeping (maybe laundry, bedding, and that kind of thing). The apartments were fairly priced."

"I have been bringing my therapy dog to visit with the resident of Addorolata Villa for several years. The facilities, while not the most modern, are spotless and immaculate. Many of the staff have been there for decades and I am always impressed by the kind and thoughtful care they give their residents. Much of the staff knows the residents (and their relatives) by name. The staff-to-patient ratio is excellent.For the patients who take comfort in religion, there are daily church services. There is also a computer lab and classes of all types are offered. There are numerous planned activities such as games, card and movie screenings as well. Addorolata also allows and encourages visits from therapy animals, which is a favorite of the residents as no pets are allowed and so many of these guests miss having an animal companion.The residents always have help available, be it for shopping, cleaning or other errands, and there are skilled nurses available at all times on-site.The grounds are beautiful in a sleepy Chicago suburb and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities year-round. "

"I have briefly visited other nursing homes and assisted living facilities and I think this is one of the best. My mother visits almost every day, though, and I know that's one way to make sure that your relatives are well taken care of...The staff is always friendly and willing to make accommodations in the residents' schedules for visitors. For all residents, both those on the 8th floor (mainly dementia patients, some rehab) and on the lower floors (mainly in their own apartments with mini-kitchens), there are daily activities. For those who are mobile, there are frequent outings. Book club, story groups, bingo, exercise, ice cream socials...there's also a beautiful roof deck and indoor sitting area on the top floor with many couches and large windows overlooking Lake Michigan. Most residents dine together and food seems decent downstairs from what I've seen. The food on the 8th floor is pretty basic cafeteria style food, not so good. "

"I recently spent 7 weeks at Willow Crest, although I do not exactly remember my early stay. The nursing staff was excellent. Even though they were extremely busy, I felt that they took time to respond to my needs. The therapy staff was wonderful and quickly got me back on my feet (literally). The rooms were kept clean and fresh linens and ice were delivered first thing in the morning. The beds were made daily as well. The food was good and I liked the fact that I was able to choose a substitution that I preferred. There were a variety activities offered. My friends on the outside could not believe that I was involved in sing along groups but it was fun and a great way to meet people. Overall, most of the CNAs did a wonderful job. Of course, there were some bad apples, but that happens at any job. No facility is perfect, but I would highly recommend Willow Crest to those who need temporary or long term assistance."

"I moved into The Pearl of Naperville. They have all the good amenities and physical therapy. Everyone has been nice. They serve three meals a day. It's quality food. They have bingo and something to keep you busy all the time. I enjoy it myself."

"The staff is wonderful! I have had my husband here for several weeks and have not encountered any of what the other reviewers have encountered. I feel that he is safe and comfortable and very well taken care of and I rest easy at night knowing this. I would definitely recommend Alden Estates of Naperville without hesitation! "

"My mother is at Providence Healthcare and Rehabilitation. It's a really good facility. Had I known about it before going to the other place, I would have put her in there if they had space available for her. They're trying to get my mom to walk again. They're very attentive. She doesn't feed herself anymore, so they assist her and feed her. She's always being changed and kept clean. The facility itself is very clean. With the exception of one staff member, their services are great, the nursing staff, food service, pretty much everything. I tasted some of my mom's food and it's good. Her food has to be grinded up, so she's getting vegetables, meat, and protein. She's given a dessert and she's given choices of drink, milk, lemonade, water, or cranberry juice. The food is good. It's something that I would eat myself. They have bingo, outdoor facilities, a courtyard, and a nice seating area where families can take the resident out, enjoy a walk or get sunshine if you want to wheel them out there in their wheelchair, which my mom is in. We have done it and it's a spacious area for more than five or six families at a time."

"I am a very happy resident in Independent Living here in Beacon Hill, Lombard IL. I was drawn by the fact that Medicare and IDPH both give 5-star ratings to our Health Center. I found exactly the right place for me to age gracefully, with physical and social support. FYI, we spent 5 years studying 12 retirement communities before selecting Beacon Hill in Lombard, head & shoulders above the rest. I think people should shop around -- just make sure you include Beacon Hill in your search. Visitors have told me they can see and feel our community's friendly and energetic "personality." "I had alot experiences with this facility. My grandfather lived in this facility for a few years, before he passed. The staff always seemed to be friendly, and they took great care of the residents. I never once saw someone being rude, or acting bad toward any of the residents. The building was very nice, and all of the top of the line amenities. Everytime I talked to my grandfather, he always had good things to say about the place. The only thing that was bad about the place, was the food. I ate there quite a few times, and the food was not very good any of the times. I know my grandfather didn't mind it, but he isn't picky when it comes to food. If I had to give this place an overall rating on a scale of one to ten, I would give them an 8, because of the fact that the food wasn't too great. I hope that when I get older, that I can live in a place this nice, because it was rather wonderful there. They always had fresh flowers everywhere, and they had birds in cages around the lounge area, it was really nice. "

"One of the best places that I went to was Meadowbrook Manor - Naperville. As soon as you walk in, it smelled good. They were very helpful. I was visiting a loved one, and as soon as I walked through the door, someone greeted me. The patients were happy. She enjoyed the food. They had activities. It was a very nice place. The rooms were clean. She was involved with different games, bingo, and activities every day. She was very happy there and so was her roommate and the other people that we saw in the cafeteria. It was a friendly place. I've tasted the food and it was good. Everybody was in uniform, nice, and neat. It was clean. You knew who worked there and who didn't. Everybody had a nametag. If I had to be in a nursing home, that's where I'd want to go."

"My great-aunt was at this facility for about 18 months. Her daughter raved about how wonderful the people were to her and her mom. I visited my aunt there a few times, and I was impressed with how clean it was. The staff seemed engaged and very caring. It has a nice chapel which my aunt really enjoyed going to for daily mass (for as long as she could). As she got worse, she moved to a different floor, and the care was consistently wonderful. I thought the rooms were very hospital like, and not large, but it was impressive for the quality of the care, and the cleanliness. In addition, my friend independently placed his mother there in 2009. Both my aunt's daughter and this friend said separately to me that they thought this was an excellent facility, and would like to be placed there when they are ready for full time care. "

"My dad is currently in the skilled nursing building of Lexington Health Care Center of Lombard. It's across the parking lot of the independent and assisted living community. He's been there a while, and he has received very good care. I think they're nice people though I think my dad's kind of a pain to deal with. They've done a good job. He started out there in nursing rehab and technically he's still there. With insurance, they wanna kick you out after a certain number of days, but he's now accepted on Medicaid. He was being provided physical therapy to help him recover after a septic infection that diminished his ability to walk. He's kinda getting help with daily living aspects. I think he's generally pretty happy there. From what I've seen, it's clean and organized, and they have a little reception room near the front door where you can have window visits on a pre-scheduled basis. My dad does not like the food there; it's pretty much all the same with other places."
