"My 93 year old father was living independently in Wisconsin up until December 2017 when we finally got my dad to understand he could no longer live alone four hours away from the family. We heard from a friend that their mom recently moved to Tinley Court, we set up a tour and loved the place, my dad moved in mid January. It was an adjustment but my dad quickly got to know people, the staff is amazing and made my dad feel very welcomed. We visited my dad daily and when we would head back home we felt at ease that he was in great hands. My dad was wheelchair bound and required some care and there are caregivers on site that work independently and we were introduced to Beauty and she was wonderful, my dad loved her and she took excellent care of him and we will always be so appreciative of all she did. There are activities that go on throughout the day and the residents could join in as much as they like. Rooms were plenty big, food good. But our best experience was with the staff, very caring and kind people. Karen and Cindy (Administration), Daylyn (Activity Director), Ann (Reception Desk), the dining room staff, housekeeping staff were all the best and made my dads last few months of life happy. My dad past away in October and we will be forever grateful for all Tinley Court did for him. Thank You Tinley Court.☺️"

"Everything that we saw at Autumn Green at Midway Village was fine. The apartments were beautiful and spacious. The hospitality on our tour was very good. Melissa was a great hostess. They offered us lunch, but the food was kind of bland. They had a courtyard, a library, a game room, a dining room, and a theater."

"I visited the independent living community of Vita Luxury Apartments on Grant. The appearance is fine. They have a great entrance going into it. I've been there thrice, and I didn't see any outstanding issues at all. The person who accommodated me during the tour was helpful with whatever questions I came up with. There wasn't too much of a wait, and he's also dealing with my application at the moment. I was looking for a pet-friendly place, and they are a pet-friendly place. I saw that they also have a small gym and a swimming pool. It's independent living, so you prepare your own food. It's a fairly new facility, so most of their stuff is basically new or just a couple of years old."

"I went to Village Green Active. They were just regular senior apartments. They have actual homes that they rent, and then they have apartments. I toured a one-bedroom apartment, and it was very nice and very clean. The staff was nice. I just didn't decide to go there, but if it came down to it, it's a place I would have considered. They had a community center where they could play games. They have a bus service there that would take people to appointments and so forth. I believe they serve continental breakfast and then they have other activities like they schedule bus tours to different places. They gave me a tour of the building and the apartment that was available. It was a nice atmosphere. It was landscaped nicely. I have nothing but positive things to say. The staff was very nice. The people at the front desk were nice. The maintenance man was the one that took me to the apartment, and we got in the elevator and he showed me where it was. It was an empty apartment, and it was very clean. The carpet was clean and everything looked nice. It looks like it was in move-in condition."

"My mother will be moving into Kirby Manor Apartments. It's a senior community but it's not assisted living. It's independent living. My mom currently is living off of Social Security only, so it's based on your income and it's very reasonable. It is an independent living, so you have to be able to provide for yourself. Even though it is a community of seniors of 55 and over, you still have to be able to clean and bathe yourself. They have daily activities. It is two floors, so there is a laundry facility on both floors. They have a treadmill and exercise bikes and stuff like that. They have a small facility room for that. They have a reading room, a puzzle room, and their actual dining room. They can either dine with other people or they can dine in their own apartment. They serve you and they have a menu there. They have a chef on-hand that does the catering there. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom, and we looked at both. The one-bedroom was very adequate. There's plenty of room. It has a kitchenette that goes into the living room, and the bathroom is wide enough. They had a closet space and it's perfect for independent living. Those that don't want to be a burden on their family but want to be able to live by themselves, it's perfect for that. They have haircutting once a month. Somebody from the outside comes and they set up for haircut appointments. They had an outdoor area and a little patio terrace that looked very cute. As far as cleanliness, it was pretty well kept. It's a little older, but it was still clean. The lady during the tour was very friendly and very informative. The maintenance guy was very upbeat and friendly. It's an older facility, but there was no chipping paint or anything like that."

"Wittenberg Lutheran Village has been very good. My mom likes it very much and she likes her apartment, which is very nice. She also likes not having any responsibility as far as the maintenance of her home. The rooms are spacious. They seem to have a calendar of events that they can do socially with transportation, and they also have things within the complex itself, like a fitness facility and a walking path. My mom also likes to play cards like bridge and pinochle. The place is very clean, well-maintained, reasonably priced, and we picked it because it has continuous care. The staff is very nice and helpful. The person we dealt with always responded to our calls and questions. She's very happy, so we're happy."

"Lake Park Senior Apartments was very nice. Everything was updated and it was decorated very nicely. I got to see a room and it was beautiful. They also had like a separate villa on the property (several of them). The villas were beautiful, too. The property manager I met was excellent. They also had activities."

"Park Place was just being built when I was there. It looked a bit messy, but there were not a lot of things lying on the ground because of that. The staff member showed me around, took me and showed me around, showed me the rooms, and told me about the place. It was a bit high priced, but they seemed to be doing pretty well."

"Hartsfield is nice, quiet and homey. They have little walking trails right beside the units. The staff is really friendly, informative, and obliging, telling you anything that you need to know. They have activities and they even have a bus service to take you places. My friend liked that they have yoga and exercise classes. The apartments have a nice layout and were spacious enough. The 1-bedroom has a den and this is what my friend wanted. "

"I have had many opportunities to experience the Village Woods community which includes staff and residents. My husband, a retired pastor, led the Vesper service on a number of occasions. It was such a precious time of worship and sharing. I have also had friends who have become residents in the villas and assisted living. Their families are thrilled with the care they receive and how expanded their lives have become with all the new friends and activities they experience at Village Woods. In recent years, I am a part of a local art gallery who provides a monthly free art project for any residents that are interested in participating. The staff are so incredibly supportive! The residents become so engaged in their projects; and, best of all, we have formed strong relationships with many who look forward to the class each month. The building looks immaculate, the dining room feels like you're eating in a resort, the staff are warm and relational. My parents have long since transitioned to their eternal homes but I'd feel so at ease having them at Village Woods...it is such a happy, healthy place. What an opportunity for older adults to experience life to the fullest! I highly recommend."

Lester's place is located in East Chicago Indiana. The property is a 5-unit apartment building with 2 levels of stairs. The property is newly remolded. Each united is fully furnished with all utilities paid. The bedrooms are shared living with 2 people per room. There is a total of 11 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on the property. There is a TV in the living room that has streaming channels for our guests. There is free Wifi for guests to log into. We supply bedding for our guests who require assistance. The property is close to restaurants, and bus transportation. The property is 25 minutes from downtown Chicago. The units are professionally cleaned once a month.

I thought the rooms are ideal, and it was affordable. Out of all of the three facilities we visited, we thought the Pines Village was the best choice; the residents were friendly and seemed happy. "
