"I toured Pines Village Retirement Communities. It was a lovely experience. There's even people there we know because we live here. There's two levels which if my husband was in a wheelchair, I wouldn't like him going on the second floor. So, that was not a plus for my thinking, but they had a really nice exercise room, I thought. They had where you could go have breakfast and you come at your own time. They gave you one meal a day it included, so you could do breakfast, you could do supper, you could take it to your room. Another thing that the other place didn't have which was good is they had a wellness button. So, before you go to bed, you press that button so everybody knows you're in your room and okay. Then in the morning, you press the button. If the button isn't pressed, they give you a call to make sure you're okay which I thought was very nice. The disadvantage compared to the other facility was, there was no washer and dryer in your room. I mean, they did your linen and they did your bedding, but your regular clothes, you have to go down the hall to a community washer and dryer room. The staff was nice. The upkeep and maintenance was very good."

"My mother has moved into Rittenhouse Village. It's been very nice. She has been very happy there. The rooms are very nice and very comfortable. My mother is very happy with the staff members. She said they all know her by name for the short time she has been there. The dining is restaurant-style. There are people who individually wait on the tables. They have bingo, exercise classes, and field trips to the store. They have a library, too. My mother hasn't attended too many activities, but they offer everything."

"Lake Park Senior Apartments was very nice. Everything was updated and it was decorated very nicely. I got to see a room and it was beautiful. They also had like a separate villa on the property (several of them). The villas were beautiful, too. The property manager I met was excellent. They also had activities."

"My mother will be moving into Kirby Manor Apartments. It's a senior community but it's not assisted living. It's independent living. My mom currently is living off of Social Security only, so it's based on your income and it's very reasonable. It is an independent living, so you have to be able to provide for yourself. Even though it is a community of seniors of 55 and over, you still have to be able to clean and bathe yourself. They have daily activities. It is two floors, so there is a laundry facility on both floors. They have a treadmill and exercise bikes and stuff like that. They have a small facility room for that. They have a reading room, a puzzle room, and their actual dining room. They can either dine with other people or they can dine in their own apartment. They serve you and they have a menu there. They have a chef on-hand that does the catering there. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom, and we looked at both. The one-bedroom was very adequate. There's plenty of room. It has a kitchenette that goes into the living room, and the bathroom is wide enough. They had a closet space and it's perfect for independent living. Those that don't want to be a burden on their family but want to be able to live by themselves, it's perfect for that. They have haircutting once a month. Somebody from the outside comes and they set up for haircut appointments. They had an outdoor area and a little patio terrace that looked very cute. As far as cleanliness, it was pretty well kept. It's a little older, but it was still clean. The lady during the tour was very friendly and very informative. The maintenance guy was very upbeat and friendly. It's an older facility, but there was no chipping paint or anything like that."

"The apartments are very spacious. My loved one is able to retain their independence but have have services that help make their life easier so there’s more time to enjoy activities and friends. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful. I definitely recommend Oak Woods Manor to anyone looking for Independent Senior Living with some assistance available."

"Village Green Active is a fine, excellent, caring community that keeps the residents involve in all sorts of activities. They have transportation, breakfast, laundry, doctor and programs throughout the week. "

"I was very pleased with everything I saw at Residences at Merrillville Lakes. The apartments were spacious and modern. The appliances and everything seemed updated. The person who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I was pleased with the pool and the exercise room."

"Wittenberg Village is an excellent facility. Actually, it's not a facility, it's like a village, and they age in place. You can go into a home or a villa home, to the assisted gardens, the price is reasonable, it's clean, and it's nice too. It' a total age in place, it's reasonable, clean, and nice. The staff that helped me out during my visit was very knowledgeable and very friendly. There's social distancing going on, so it's not like you can roam all over the place. They have a fitness room that I saw, they have their activities, they have the transportation like the other places do. Things are just starting to reopen up."

Lester's place is located in East Chicago Indiana. The property is a 5-unit apartment building with 2 levels of stairs. The property is newly remolded. Each united is fully furnished with all utilities paid. The bedrooms are shared living with 2 people per room. There is a total of 11 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on the property. There is a TV in the living room that has streaming channels for our guests. There is free Wifi for guests to log into. We supply bedding for our guests who require assistance. The property is close to restaurants, and bus transportation. The property is 25 minutes from downtown Chicago. The units are professionally cleaned once a month.

"I toured Park Place of St. John. It's a very nice place. It's well-kept and well-managed, and nothing is out of place. The garages were small, but everything was clean. The staff was excellent and very informative. She showed me everything I needed to see, including some stuff I would probably never use. She showed me everything that was at that facility. The rooms are smaller than the ones I live in, but that's okay."

"The staff is very responsive. My room has a bedroom, a living room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. The food is very good almost all the time. They have a number of different kinds of activities, and I do exercise, but apart from that they have other things like bingo and movies. I chose Hartsfield because mostly my family is within 15 minutes from here. "

"Senior Suites of Hegewisch is independent living. I was totally surprised at how large the room was. There was a laundry room on each floor. My view would be of the garden. It was clean, but I got a sterile feeling when I first entered the building. It was like you're going into an institution. They have the wrong lighting, and there were no areas where you can actually just sit. I liked the size of the bathroom. You could get a wheelchair in there. I also liked the price. Their prices were more for independent living. They have transportation when you need to go to the grocery store or run some errands. Their apartments were much larger than the others I looked at, and there was a kitchenette. The price and the size of the room set it apart. The neighborhood was quiet, nice, clean, and tidy. The staff waited until we got there, which was really good. She took us around the floors and showed us different things. They don't offer meals anymore. You cook in your own place. They have a business office, where you get to use the computers on the first floor; that is something I would not be interested in. I like having my own in my apartment."

"I'm at Victory Centre of River Oaks. I moved in on the 4th of December, and I've only been here a few days. I love the apartment. The staff is very nice and accommodating. My apartment has a full kitchen, a walk- in shower, and 1-bedroom. I live alone, I do my own cooking, I'm independent. They have activities here, but I haven't participated in any because I'm still trying to move in. The living atmosphere is fine as far as I can tell. I'm not interactive with any of the tenants yet because I'm still busy trying to unpack and move in, so my opinion is too fresh right now. All I can talk about is the apartment and the staff. Maintenance has been very accommodating, and the staff has been very nice, so I have no problems there. They have facilities, but I just haven't been through them."
