"Victory Centre of South Chicago was nice. When I came in, they had a band playing. It was cool to see letting the other people who live there interact and hear music back from when they were growing up. I love the activities that they had going on there, too. The person who showed me around was very upfront, very friendly, and just very straightforward in terms of what it was going to be like and what the places looked like. I only saw a studio apartment and it was very nicely put together with low countertops and smaller refrigerators. They had the place where the band was playing, so that's their music place. They also showed me an open area for just relaxing, do board games, or just watching TV. They had three or four open spaces. They offer transportation for the people who live there, to get to and from the store or to get to and from a doctor. The facility was very nice and clean, nothing was unsanitary, and nothing smelled bad. Everything was very well put together. The area was a little bit rough around the edges, but the building itself and the staff were good."

"Everything here is very nice. The staff is very efficient, kind, caring, and professional. We are totally pleased. My mother has already been here for two years, and the person that I just moved in is my aunt. There are all kinds of activities here. They have games, entertainment that come in, and a variety of activities. I think the apartment is spacious. It is more than enough for a senior."

"Lake Park Senior Apartments was very nice. Everything was updated and it was decorated very nicely. I got to see a room and it was beautiful. They also had like a separate villa on the property (several of them). The villas were beautiful, too. The property manager I met was excellent. They also had activities."

"My mother will be moving into Kirby Manor Apartments. It's a senior community but it's not assisted living. It's independent living. My mom currently is living off of Social Security only, so it's based on your income and it's very reasonable. It is an independent living, so you have to be able to provide for yourself. Even though it is a community of seniors of 55 and over, you still have to be able to clean and bathe yourself. They have daily activities. It is two floors, so there is a laundry facility on both floors. They have a treadmill and exercise bikes and stuff like that. They have a small facility room for that. They have a reading room, a puzzle room, and their actual dining room. They can either dine with other people or they can dine in their own apartment. They serve you and they have a menu there. They have a chef on-hand that does the catering there. They had one-bedroom and two-bedroom, and we looked at both. The one-bedroom was very adequate. There's plenty of room. It has a kitchenette that goes into the living room, and the bathroom is wide enough. They had a closet space and it's perfect for independent living. Those that don't want to be a burden on their family but want to be able to live by themselves, it's perfect for that. They have haircutting once a month. Somebody from the outside comes and they set up for haircut appointments. They had an outdoor area and a little patio terrace that looked very cute. As far as cleanliness, it was pretty well kept. It's a little older, but it was still clean. The lady during the tour was very friendly and very informative. The maintenance guy was very upbeat and friendly. It's an older facility, but there was no chipping paint or anything like that."

"The apartments are very spacious. My loved one is able to retain their independence but have have services that help make their life easier so there’s more time to enjoy activities and friends. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful. I definitely recommend Oak Woods Manor to anyone looking for Independent Senior Living with some assistance available."

"I went to Village Green Active. They were just regular senior apartments. They have actual homes that they rent, and then they have apartments. I toured a one-bedroom apartment, and it was very nice and very clean. The staff was nice. I just didn't decide to go there, but if it came down to it, it's a place I would have considered. They had a community center where they could play games. They have a bus service there that would take people to appointments and so forth. I believe they serve continental breakfast and then they have other activities like they schedule bus tours to different places. They gave me a tour of the building and the apartment that was available. It was a nice atmosphere. It was landscaped nicely. I have nothing but positive things to say. The staff was very nice. The people at the front desk were nice. The maintenance man was the one that took me to the apartment, and we got in the elevator and he showed me where it was. It was an empty apartment, and it was very clean. The carpet was clean and everything looked nice. It looks like it was in move-in condition."

"I was very pleased with everything I saw at Residences at Merrillville Lakes. The apartments were spacious and modern. The appliances and everything seemed updated. The person who gave me the tour was very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I was pleased with the pool and the exercise room."

"My dad is at Wittenberg. He has been there for three to four weeks now. Actually Wittenberg has multiple levels, and my dad is in the rehab-skilled section. The rooms are very nice. He is in a private room. The staff is flexible to meet his needs. They are friendly and welcoming. They let my mom stay overnight for one night. "

Lester's place is located in East Chicago Indiana. The property is a 5-unit apartment building with 2 levels of stairs. The property is newly remolded. Each united is fully furnished with all utilities paid. The bedrooms are shared living with 2 people per room. There is a total of 11 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on the property. There is a TV in the living room that has streaming channels for our guests. There is free Wifi for guests to log into. We supply bedding for our guests who require assistance. The property is close to restaurants, and bus transportation. The property is 25 minutes from downtown Chicago. The units are professionally cleaned once a month.

"I am a resident of Park Place of St. John. It's very good, but the money is very good too. You get three meals here, but I don't really need three meals but the breakfast is the best. For lunch and dinner, they could change it up once in a while. So, it's the same thing. It's a nice facility. We get entertainment. There's good entertainment. They have a pretty good staff in here, maybe a couple. You're always gonna get a couple that is the best. For the most part, they're pretty good. They help with showers and all that."

"The staff is very responsive. My room has a bedroom, a living room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. The food is very good almost all the time. They have a number of different kinds of activities, and I do exercise, but apart from that they have other things like bingo and movies. I chose Hartsfield because mostly my family is within 15 minutes from here. "

"Senior Suites of Hegewisch is independent living. I was totally surprised at how large the room was. There was a laundry room on each floor. My view would be of the garden. It was clean, but I got a sterile feeling when I first entered the building. It was like you're going into an institution. They have the wrong lighting, and there were no areas where you can actually just sit. I liked the size of the bathroom. You could get a wheelchair in there. I also liked the price. Their prices were more for independent living. They have transportation when you need to go to the grocery store or run some errands. Their apartments were much larger than the others I looked at, and there was a kitchenette. The price and the size of the room set it apart. The neighborhood was quiet, nice, clean, and tidy. The staff waited until we got there, which was really good. She took us around the floors and showed us different things. They don't offer meals anymore. You cook in your own place. They have a business office, where you get to use the computers on the first floor; that is something I would not be interested in. I like having my own in my apartment."
