"I was able to tour Bickford of Crown Point. I like the small size, from the standpoint that it's not so big that you feel like it's a giant organization. There's a lot of personal touches to it and it's all on one level, and because there's a smaller number of people, everybody seems to know each other very well. It just has a very homey feeling. I was looking at their assisted living for my dad, but they also have memory care there. Everybody was very friendly and very accommodating during my visit. I think the only thing that may have been missing there was a formal exercise area. But I understand that when it's assisted and memory care versus independent living, an exercise room or gym is less needed in that situation. They had a nice courtyard, they had a nice library, and they have a nice haircutting salon there that's very large and professional. They also have very nice meeting areas, which I would call more like lounging areas for the residents to sit and relax outside of their rooms."

"The St. Anthony nursing home was a very welcoming place for mother who is a resident. The nursing home is very welcoming and a friendly environment for it is residents, and would be my first choice to help out relatives that I cannot take care of myself. The staff is very congenial towards the residents and are always looking for ways to better the residents and make their lives easier in the process. I have many good comments for this staff considering how little they are paid, and how happy they seem to be at work every day I see them. Due to my mother's Alzheimers she cannot remember me and that makes for a very poignant reunion, but the kind staff was quick to comfort me. The food they serve seems healthy but I am not too sure if it tastes all that great seeing how my mother always asks for me to bring her food the next time I see her. Overall this facility, in my opinion is amazing and deserves a five star rating! "

"My grandmother moved to Two Hearts Homes for Seniors - Crown Point. It's a small community of only 15 bedrooms. The number of caregivers to residents ratio is awesome. The caregivers there make the food for the residents. It's got a big open-concept kitchen, dining room, and living room, so they all eat together in that same room. They watch TV together. It's family-owned and operated. The owners have been great to work with. The administrative team has been great to work with. It's more of a home setting than a facility setting. It's just a family vibe. The staff is very outgoing and tends to go above and beyond. There's a small number of residents. So, they can take the time to get to know the people. It's very intimate. The facility is clean. The facility is brand new. They just sent me a picture of my grandma painting a coaster today. The whole building is in the shape of a U. At the bottom of the U is like the living room, the kitchen, and everything else. Then the branches of the U, the one bedroom, the large studio apartments, and they have a nice bathroom and nice-sized high ceilings."

"Tinley Court is nice inside, but in that room they showed me there was just a bed, that's it. They have a place where you can sit outside, and it was nice. They showed me the library, the room where you go and play games, and where you go eat. It was nice, but their room was so tiny. They have a kitchenette, that's what they call it. There's no bedroom, no closet, and a nice pretty washroom. There were some cabinets where you can put a refrigerator underneath a cabinet and that's it. They have meals three times a day, and they give you your medicine. A lady took me around, she was nice. She gave me all the paperwork and showed me around. She said they do hair in the beauty shop, and they go outside and stuff. It's nice, clean, and beautiful out there. I can't afford the price. She can't show me another room because that was the only one. They do have one bedroom or two available, but I guess it would cost more."

"The rooms at Bickford of Tinley Park were good, and the people and dining area were very nice. It was very clean. They had a good courtyard."

"One thing I liked about Christian Village is that you could go from assisted living to the nursing home to hospice all in one building. The staff is very caring. The rooms are well kept and her apartment is very nice. The food is fine and their dining room looks like being in a restaurant. They also have lots of activities. "

"Evergreen Senior Living - Orland Park was very nice. We thought it was clean, very personable, and the people were friendly. Their rooms were very nice and it didn't look like a nursing home or a hospital room or anything like that, but it looked very homey. We just saw their media room, dining room, barbershop, a little store that they had, and their exercise room. I thought the place was great. The staff was wonderful, very, very informative, and very friendly. Everything was clean and in good shape."

"Victorian Village was very beautiful, very clean, and the layout was good. The people were very nice, and the staff is attentive, concerned, and genuinely interested in the welfare of the people. There is Wii bowling, bingo, and movies, and the location is very convenient. "

"Marian Village was beautiful and clean. We spoke to Elise and she was very helpful. She showed us around and we met some of the staff. It was a nice place. We were hoping to get my mom there, but assisted living was not for her. The one room that we saw was very nice and spacious. The eating area was very nice, too. The chapel was beautiful. You just got a calming sense when you walked in the door. There was a salon and an activities room. They were very friendly. Everything was very clean and looked brand new."

"I went to see Residences at Coffee Creek. I liked that there were nurses' stations on every floor. The staff who assisted me was really good and very nice. They had private studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. I looked at the 1-bedroom apartment and it was around 600 square feet. It was fine. I didn't see any activities. They just took me around and showed me the facility. I think it was the best one I saw."
