"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. Mom cant do anything for herself anymore , but is well-taken care of, and we know this excellent standard of care will continue as long as she is there. "

"I recently placed my husband in the memory unit. I voiced my concerns about my husband to the staff and they assured me that he is being well taken care of. My husband said everyone there is very nice to him and because he is a picky eater, the staff is trying to accommodate him with the foods he likes. The social worker there keeps me updated with my husband's needs and she is always very nice to deal with. I would recommend Munster Med Inn very highly."

"every time I came to visit my grandmother all the staff knew me and my family! They were all aware of my grandmother's condition and always took the time to educate us on what we can do to make it easier on her. ( she was there for a year and then she was placed on hospice care) they were truly kind and caring! "

"It isn't an ideal situation for anyone involved, but it is often necessary. I felt the amenities provided, the staff's attitude and level of care, and the facility in general were more than adequate. It is an unpleasant reality to face with older family members sometimes, but knowing that they are decently cared for is of some comfort.The facility is clean and seems very sterile. It is not the most homey, but I think that is a fair sacrifice to prevent filth or clutter. There is a bit of a medicated smell, but due to the nature of the facility, I suppose that is to be expected. The staff appear clean and professional, and I did not witness any rude or poor behavior. Residents that are up to socializing can participate and it appears that they are kept fairly busy considering their condition. Aside from a general perception of the place, I do not know much else. "

"The staff was incredible; they really cared about my grandfather and my family. They made sure that my grandmother could spend as much time as she wanted with him, and also made sure that she had food to take her insulin with every day. The staff was very alert and aware of changes in my grandfather's condition and was proactive in treating even the slightest symptom. When he began to receive hospice care at the facility, the staff seemed just as moved emotionally as we were. The facility is also well kept and extremely clean. We were very lucky to find Tri-state, as there were not many facilities in the area that had good ratings from the state. "

"My mom had fallen and fractured her hip, she had surgery, and so we decided to put her in Symphony of Dyer for more rehab. It was pretty good, but my mom didn't last there long. She passed away, but the short amount of time that she was there, it was satisfactory. The staff was friendly and available. My mom had to have the pureed food. The place was very nice and clean. The outside looked very nice. I liked the way it was. It was a good location because we had one sister that lived close to Dyer. It was a nice area."

"Manorcare South Holland has a very professional and caring staff. The care they are currently providing my Mother is supportive and is substantial. Thank you to all the staff members. "

"My dad just moved into Great Lakes Healthcare Center a week ago. I like it. It's pretty nice. He likes it better than where he came from. It's really a good sign that he likes it. The staff are very good. My dad likes it better because the staff is better than they were over at the other place. He has only been there a week. I see him almost every day, and he just brags about it. As long as he's happy, I'm happy. The facility is spectacular. Whatever family you recommend, they're going to like it. The rooms are big. The facility is clean and very nice. They have a two-wing section there, and that's why I really like it. Right now, my dad is in the rehab part. He'll be switching over to the nursing home part today or tomorrow. They will only allow clothes baskets. For extra space, you can bring in your own dresser and your own TV. The food is fine. They do provide cable. They have bingo games. They have other kind of activities. The activities are very, very good."

"I toured Glenwood Healthcare & Rehab when I was looking for a place for my mother. The place was very good and seemed to be very accommodating. They had numerous activities for the residents to participate in, went out for dinner or lunch, and played games. "

"The overall impression when you first enter is very unimpressive. The facility is very untidy and has a foul odor. Patients are under supervised, based on the volume of falls that occur on a monthly basis. The staff are uninformed. They have no idea of a resident's past medical history or what needs they would need to help them. They are not trained in emergency first response to save a life until an ambulance arrives. I have experienced many instances of what I believe is negligence from staff members. "

"My grandmother is at BRIA of River Oaks. I don't like that they are consistently understaffed, and my grandmother is not a good fit for an environment like that because she needs someone to constantly check in on her. There are no activities or interaction. They just leave her sitting in her room. I want her to be somewhere where they're promoting an exercise. I want her quality of life to be better basically, but I just realize they can't provide that. I'm not saying that they're not nice and things like that, but it seems like they're underfunded and understaffed, so they have very few nice things to work with. It's kind of rundown. There's been no new renovations. It looks pretty old. The staff are nice. I can't really say that I don't like the staff, but they're like out of touch and not that personal. I've encountered a few nice people, but they're not all like that. Overall, this is not a good fit for my grandmother. Food is awful; it's like jail food. The facility is old and rundown. It needs to be cleaned up and remodeled. The exercise that people get, they just come out in the hallway, and if you can't walk, they'll wheel you out in the hallway, and you just sit there. That's all I've ever seen. My grandmother has a single room. She doesn't share it with anybody, and that's one thing I have loved since she has been there. She has a TV, central heat, a dresser, and a nightstand, and that's it."

"My father-in-law is at the Villa at South Holland. It's nice. They've got nice people there. They have single rooms now, but he has a roommate. They have very nice facilities and a very nice dining area. The staff is caring, attentive, and very hands-on when it comes to him. It's really good for him. He's always in the dining area. He likes to hang out there. Every time we look for him, that's where he is. He doesn't need constant care, but he likes it. If you're looking for that, they're really good. They're an alternative. If you have a parent who likes attention, they give him that. He likes to socialize and he likes to talk to the people that work in the place. He's very happy. It's a smaller place, so the cleanliness was good. It didn't have an odor. It smelled fresh and clean. Overall, it was pretty good, and he chose it. He had pretty good taste."

"I thought Aperion Care was overcrowded. It was OK, but as far as helping him to start walking or getting him to walk again, I didn’t see that progress at all. It wasn’t that bad; it was just a little overcrowded. The care was OK, and the food was fine. "
