Assisted Living Communities in Lowell, IN

"My dad as lived in assisted living at Deer Creek for 6 months. He is VERY happy here. And we, his children, are are also quite pleased with everyone and everything that DC represents. Having been through the nursing home experience with my mother, I was a bit skeptical of any facility. Well, Deer Creek quickly changed my mind. I can't say enough good things about them and that's the honest truth. When people ask my father what he thinks about living here, the first thing he says is how wonderful the staff is and provides examples, and I can attest to this. I visit for a couple of hours at a time 3-4 times per week. The ENTIRE staff is RESPECTFUL, friendly, kind, caring and professional. AND helpful; I haven't observed staff or visitors running the other direction when a resident is in need of some help. The nurses and CNAs are the very best. They provide me with peace of mind knowing my dad is under their care. Staff is consistently pleasant and upbeat! So far, I haven't detected when staff is having a bad day--really. The maintenance staff are awesome, too! They have made some modifications to my father's apartment to better meet his needs, for example, added an extra grab bar in the bathroom as well as removed the lamp shades in his bathroom so the light would be brighter. I've eaten many meals at DC; the food is exceptional and my father thinks so as well. One of the meals he looks forward to is having a bowl of their homemade soup everyday. The desserts are out of this world. My father's apartment is clean, the garbage cans are emptied twice a day, bed linens and clothing are washed per his schedule. He is bathed twice a week as well. He gets his hair and fingernails cut at the DC salon, which is a huge help to me. As my father tells everyone who asks, "There is always something to do, if you want to do it". There are activities planned throughout the day, 7 days per week (the activity schedule is actually followed). He's into music and has praised the musical performances of those who have entertained them to date. The family nights are fun and something our family enjoys participating in. My father and I have developed a fond affection for the staff and residents at Deer Creek. I hope you come for a visit and experience the same things. "

"I visited one assisted living called Prairie Green. It was very nice. The rooms were small but they were very clean. The residents seemed happy and full of energy. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and professional. "

"Heritage Woods of Manteno is great. Mom is enjoying it. She enjoys being around other people and having places where she can walk indoors that's safe. She's doing great, and we like it. People do the laundry for her, but she has the opportunity to do her own. There's a little library and she's making use of that. She enjoys the hair salon, making new friends, and plays bingo. The food is very good with lots of variety and good choices and she's enjoying it."

"I thought Sunrise of Flossmoor was a top-notch operation. When I came in, the place was very open and welcoming. The residents who were there were out and about and very active. The facility was very nice and clean. I really like their dining setup. It was set up like a restaurant, and I got the chance to witness how they actually serve their residents. It was like sitting down at a restaurant. They give you a menu and you select what you want, as opposed to it being more of a cafeteria style where there's only one thing to eat and you don't have any choices. I really like that idea of having a variety on the menu. There were a lot of residents around the facility who were moving around and very active. The space that I saw as a possible room was nice and spacious, and it had all of the amenities that I was looking for in terms of a refrigerator and a shower in the room. It was a perfect place. The staff was very, very nice. They had a lot of seniority on the staff. A lot of the staff, the CNAs and all, have been there over ten years, which is a good sign that there's stability there. They were very open and honest with me in terms of my conversations with them. It was perfect. My only problem was they wouldn't take my aunt because it's a state law that they can only be a one-person assist once they get there. If they're one-person assist to get into the facility and then they transition to a two-person assist, that's OK, but coming in the door, you have to be a one-person assist, and she is not there at this point. She's a two-person assist. That's the only thing I had a problem with. I met with the admissions person, and she was very professional and very thoughtful, she understood my needs and concerns, and she answered all of my questions. I actually went there two times to visit. I went by myself the first time, and then I took my wife back the second time."

"Brookdale Valparaiso has all kinds of various activities to help people with their memory skills, they have singing and baking, and they visit various local sites like stores, churches and local museums. My mom has been there for 5 years, and we're happy with it. The food is fine, and they have a variety like chicken, beef, fish, various vegetables, and dessert. It's not a 5-star restaurant, but it's very good. "

"I visited Sunrise Villa Olympia Fields. I liked the cleanliness, the friendliness, the professionalism, and their willingness to assist. They invited us to lunch. The food was good. The service was good. Elijah, the server, and Lou, the cook, were amazing. The tenants that live there were also very friendly and engaging. The accommodations were very adequate. The social services and the security that they have were amazing as well. That would be someplace when I'm ready that I might consider going. Kathy was the facilitator who toured us and sat down, and talked about the things that they had to offer. She was very accommodating."

"The set-up at Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was the same as the other place. They have seating areas, and everything was clean. The tour was good. They have open spaces. They don't have anything inside, so you have to furnish everything yourself. The person who took me on the tour was very nice. She communicated with us, and she explained everything we saw that we walked past. So, she was very informative. They said they have three meals a day."

"My parents have lived at the village for two years. The staff was kind and patient with them while they were making the decision to leave their home. The nursing staff is responsive and does a wonderful job that surpasses just passing meds. The Aides are a delight. The Chef and kitchen staff go out of their way to make the residents feel at home The food is very good and portions are generous. There are activities and outings to enjoy at their leisure. Overall, my parents and I have been very happy with this next phase of their life at The Village."

"I toured the Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge. The place was nice. It's just that the studios were too small. The staff was very good. The area that I went in, the laundry room, was clean, so the building seemed to be well-kept. The atmosphere was warm and very friendly."

"I liked my visit to Bickford of Bourbonnais, and I liked the staff. The layout of the place looked good. They had gathering places for the people, and the dining room looked very nice and comfortable. They said they had activities and stuff. The community was very clean, and the courtyard looks nice."

"The Residences at Coffee Creek was wonderful. They had everything there. The staff member was very helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were beautiful and adequate for the residents' needs. Everything was new, clean, and up-to-date. The dining area was very nice. They had puzzle and crafts rooms. They try to do the activities according to the person's intellectual capabilities. They have a TV room, and they take the residents places."

"Bickford of Tinley Park was very nice. The staff was very good, very helpful, and very thorough in explaining everything. The dining area was very nice and roomy. The food was very tasty, and the chef was very nice. Every room had its own bathroom. Their price seemed to be competitive, and the location was nice. "

"Clarendale of Mokena was very nice and very well-presented. If they had had availability, I probably would have put my husband in there. The staff who gave me the tour was very nice and informative. The only negative was the rooms seemed rather small and cramped, but the idea is they're not supposed to spend a lot of time in the room so they can get active. They have a beauty shop, and the assisted living has a really nice area for casual dining outside of the regular cafeteria. They have a schedule of activities, and they have full stuff scheduled all day."

"The staff at Tinley Court was very, very accommodating, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and warm. They showed us the one-bedroom and studio units they had and they were all very spacious. The one-bedroom was the one that we fell in love with. You can eat off the floor because it was just that clean. They also let us know all the activities that were offered there. Some of the activities were going on as we were touring."
