My dad moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. The people that work there have been really great. They're friendly. Whenever I had issues or things I needed to bring up, they addressed it right away. So, it's also relaxed. And they're always making sure that my dad is getting involved with stuff. He's not just sitting in his room. So, it feels like a small community. It's not a huge facility, so it feels like everybody knows everybody and they know what's going on. And I can talk to whomever, so I think it's been good. The facility is clean. There's an older part and a newer part, and it's well taken care of. But it's not like fancy or anything. So, it's a very basic place, which is fine. It's what my dad needed. So, if you're looking for something fancier, this isn't the place, but it is a good basic facility. It has a comfortable and laid-back atmosphere.

My mom has moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. I like it so far; it seems nice. They care about their patients. My mom says it's good food and it's okay. She gets help with everything, dressing, going to the bathroom. It's really big, but you had to furnish your own bed and if she wants a TV. She doesn't have a TV in her room yet. Some people do, but she doesn't watch a whole lot as it is. I don't know if I'm going to hook up a TV or not, because they keep them busy and keep them out of their rooms all day long so that they can sleep well at night. In their activity room, there's a TV. They have a beauty salon. She got her hair done today. They do exercises and they have an activity room. They have two dining rooms, and they move them around a lot there in the activity room. They have three meals, and they have two snacks that I know of for sure per day; I think there may be a third one. They move them down to the dining room and then downstairs they have a full big bar, where they can have a glass of wine or a beer if they want. They have a bathroom down there, and a big family kitchen where people can go in and say we're going to celebrate Thanksgiving. They told me that a family cooked a whole meal, turkey and all, and they had their family there to eat. They have a big room for that and another activity room down there where I saw them playing bingo. The place is huge, it's really big. They move them around, and they don't let them just sit in one room. On Wednesdays, you can call ahead and go downstairs in the basement. It's like restaurant-style. There's a bar, a booth, and then there are tables in the middle. It's like dining in a restaurant, and we did that with her last Wednesday. My daughter and I, ate with her; that was kind of nice. The meal last Wednesday was delicious. I went back for two tours. The director said that they have their own chef that's been there a long time and that all the food is delicious. I asked my mom different things that they've had, and I asked her if she liked it, she said the food is good. The reason I went there, to begin with, was my sister-in-law's mother-in-law. They had just put her in there; she's the one that called me and said to take a look at the place. Everybody has their own room, there's no sharing a room.

My sister-in-law moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. It is a smaller community. They have staff who are long-term and have been there many years. They welcome the families to be part of the community and visit as often as you'd like. The staff members are very helpful if you have any questions and friendly toward the family. They have a doctor that comes to the community. They have their own beauty spa and a little gift shop. It's just a very friendly, homey, and lovely place. The gardens are very well-kept and clean. You can either get a one-bedroom little apartment or a studio apartment. My sister-in-law has a studio, which is just fine because it's a nice size and has room for sitting chairs, bed, refrigerator, desk area, bathroom, and closet. It's very comfortable and spacious. The food is excellent. You can eat there on Wednesdays, so the family can come and eat with their residents. They have movies, crafts, and puzzles. The price is reasonable and not overly priced. They do not take Medicaid.

We toured The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. We were hoping that that this was where my sister-in-law could go. They had a more controlled situation. We obviously were able to discuss her health needs with the facility, and they were willing to work on her specific situation because they had another resident who had the exact same diagnosis she had. They were willing to help her live independently in an apartment type situation, instead of a memory care situation. There was an understanding between all of us that she probably was being too heavily medicated for her condition, and this is what has caused a lot of her problems. The facility was very nice. It's a not-for-profit. It's not like they're out to get you. They also stated that they work with people towards end-of-life or when money go south. They're not quick to throw you out of the facility. It was quiet, and it looked like a very calming place to be. We looked at the independent area and went to the memory section of the facility. The memory section is an older part of that building. We spent the most of our time in the independent section. The rooms were very nice and very spacious. There were single suites, double suites (for husband and wife or mother and daughter). It had a very nice kind of apartment feel to it or your own little place. It was very clean and very up-to-date. It's a very nice little facility. The manager was the one who spent the time with us to talk about the facility and showed the whole facility and the kind of things that they could do. She was extremely helpful. She gave us a complete booklet with pricing, just everything about the actual facility itself, and about the doctors that come in to the facility. It was very informative. They offer a lot of really great amenities. The two dining rooms that they have were very nice. They have a pub in the lower level of the building. They can go down there and have a meal and hang out with their friends. It's a big opportunity for them to try the dining room or go to the pub and enjoy the meal there. The staff was very informative and very compassionate, and that's a big deal.

I went to Oak Crest Atrium Apartments. Their memory care residents are included in daily activities there. They don't just have their own, they're integrated with assisted living patients. It is kind of a new way of thinking about it, but it's nice to be sitting next to a person who actually can carry on a conversation if you're able to, rather than sitting next to a patient who is nonverbal. So they integrate everyone, which is I think a phenomenal idea. It was the director who has been employed there for 50 years, who toured me around because they don't usually give tours on Monday. The lady who gives tours on Monday is normally off, that's why they were confused why I had a tour that day. But she was phenomenal. She was passionate about her place, and her residents. They also have a restaurant in their basement where, say, your mother or father likes to go out for lunch, but you don't want to have to leave the building. They have their own restaurant in the basement where they can feel like they're going out for lunch. It's awesome. I did not try any meals there, but their staff eats there and they have a chef. She said they talk with the residents and see what their preferences are, and they can either mechanically make the food palatable for whoever doesn't have teeth or stuff like that. When you first see it, I would say it's a three, but when you go in, it's a five because it's very homey, very welcoming. So the outside appearance is not what you would expect when you walk inside. It's a very old community. They've been there for over 100 years, it's not a place where people come and go, as for their employment, they seem to care about what's going on with the residents.

My parents are residents of Oak Crest Atrium Apartments. They have two sections: one is for memory care, and one is more assisted living. My parents are in assisted living. They have their own apartment, which is very nice and very large. It has a small kitchenette in it. There's built-in shelving. The bathroom is very nice. Included in their rent is three meals a day in the dining room. If they're not able to make it, they'll bring the food to them. Their evening snack is fresh fruit that's brought to their apartment. They also get cleaning once a week in their apartment, and their laundry is done for them. My mother gets assistance with medication. If they have any need for assistance, they just have to call down. There's a phone in every room, including the bathroom and the kitchen. So it's been such a comfort for the family to know that we don't have to worry about them, especially at night that there's somebody available. The staff is super wonderful, very nice, very welcoming to my parents and the extended family when we go to visit. They have a pub in the basement that looks like an old-fashioned kind of bar-restaurant. On Wednesdays and Fridays, outside people can make reservations and go, and it's very nice. They have a movie room with big, comfortable reclining chairs, so they can watch movies. They do have a craft room, but they also do bingo and other arts and crafts. I was there on a Saturday when they had a group come in and do some singing, some worship songs, and some prayers with the group. There are plenty of rooms to go and visit with family. They have fireplaces, and on the lower level, they have a very large room with a long family dining table and a full kitchen. You're able to reserve that to either take meals in, or you can cook in there if you want to cook with your family member. My parents are very, very comfortable and happy there. My father feels like they're overeating because the food is so good. It's beautiful a facility, and the layout is very nice. They have an outside area and screened-in porch that they can sit on. It feels like you're at home, but your house is really big. We looked at multiple places, and the pricing was very competitive.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was very nice and very clean, an older facility, but seemed well run. The only one I talked to was the director who gave us the tour. The rooms seemed very nice. There seemed to be quite a few amenities.

Our visit to Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was very nice, and the people there were very nice. It's just that the place was smaller than we wanted. We saw the place and talked to the people. They have a nice community dogs and they accept pets. There was nothing wrong with it, but it was just not a good fit for us. The staff seemed very nice, they were friendly, and also informative.

My father is in assisted living at Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments. It was more like a community than a jail. It has things to do and people interact. They make sure that they socialize with other people. The food looks good and they have a lot of different activities. My dad is busy all day, which is the best thing for him. The staff is very friendly and kind. They're more like caregivers.

We were not impressed with Oak Crest. They did not have a 2-bedroom, but they offered two 1-bedroom apartments side by side. They were very small, there was hardly anything in the kitchen, and you couldn't fit a table in there. The living room and the bedroom windows were the only windows. However, I was impressed with their basement; they had a room that's like you're walking into a pub, and they had a huge screen TV and a gourmet kitchen that was available to the residents.

We had a wonderful time at Oak Crest. I went and looked at the community, and then I went back again with my sister a couple of years later; we had an excellent time. We were very pleased with the property; we are not just ready to place my mother at the present time. The staff was very professional and answered our questions. They showed us a studio apartment that we were interested in and what activities were available to her. They gave us some soup to take home, and it was very good.

I Like Oak Crest. It’s good for my mother. She is well taken care of. The room is very good and very clean. Everything is very nice. The grounds are very well kept as well too. The food is good. It is older, smaller, and more compact. I like that it is close to my home and the fact that it is small. Everyone knows everybody there.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was nice. It was very clean. The rooms were clean. No real complaints. One thing though -- where they have the people with dementia -- they didn’t have a bathroom in the room (they did have one out in the hallway), but I wouldn’t be able to tell if my father would have trouble with that. It was on a Saturday, and maybe that’s not one of the better days to go on a tour; it was pretty quiet. The staff and everything was very nice and friendly.

I toured Oak Crest and saw some things that I liked and didn’t like. There were two heads of the place that were very nice, very helpful, and gave me general suggestions and frozen soup to take home that my mom loved. There were some great activities going on. They had a beautician on staff, a salon, a podiatrist, and a visiting doctor. They also had a little restaurant and private dining in addition to the dining area. The room was so small and didn't have a bathroom, microwave, or a little kitchen area. My mom would have to go to the bathroom across the hallway, which is a shared bathroom. It really wouldn’t have worked for my mom because my mom has an urgent need to go to the bathroom very quickly. Everything was locked up there. When the staff member showed me the room, she said, “She won’t be staying here very much anyway since she’ll be encouraged to be out and about all day.” I don’t think that I want my mom to feel like she doesn’t have the option to stay in her room. It was an old building that didn’t feel like it was good for mobility or to get around the place easily. It didn’t feel open.

Oak Crest was a very nice facility, and the overall appearance was really nice. We did taste the food, and it was really good. The reason that my mom didn’t choose it was she did not like the layout of the apartment. I cannot remember the staff's name, but she was wonderful. The general dining area was nice and very homey. What we really love was where we ate; it was in the basement an actual pub. There was a bar, cabinet wine, and cocktails, and the food was really good. It was like walking into a pub; it was great. We also walked through the activity rooms, and they did look like it was something my mom would have liked.

Oak Crest was a very clean place. The problem was that they were expensive. The people were very nice, and they had nice meals, which their residents seemed to enjoy. Their rooms were very large and nice.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments was OK. Oak Crest was old and needed to be updated. The apartment blew me away. I loved that place. The staff was very nice. Most of the activities I saw were indoors, like arts and crafts, bingo, cards, and things of that nature. Three days a week, they have cocktail hour in their pub in the basement. They have this oversized kitchen where you can bring your entire family, make your own dinner, and sit down at the kitchen table for a family meal. It's pretty awesome over there. They gave me a walkaway with a bean soup that was very good. They had a little workout center and an outdoor deck. They had a theater room and sometimes people come in and do small skits or plays for them.

Oak Crest looked great, and the facilities were fairly new. People we spoke to were very sensitive to our needs and what we're looking for. It was just a good option. The dining room was very lovely and everything was new, modern, open, breezy, had a lot of windows and very nice. They had separate kitchen and dining areas for families if they want to have a private party, a movie theater room, wine cellar, and a number of activities for a lot of interest levels.

Oak Crest and Atrium Apartments is a really nice place that felt homey. The building is old, but it's really nice inside. The people were very nice, too. I saw people walking around and doing activities. Someone was celebrating a birthday that day and everybody was enjoying their cake.

I can't begin to put into words the gratitude and appreciation I and my family all have for the wonderful care my mother receives. You know and do things that are special to her from smiles to rereading letters from family to sharing words of care and a helping hand during meals. The list could go on.
