"The people were wonderful. Julie, the one who gave me the tour, was phenomenal, and their follow-up was very good too. They would call me just to let me know how my mom was doing. The rooms were beautiful, and I would move there if I were old enough. To me, it was like a cruise ship without a casino. I was really impressed with it. My mom's doing great now, but if there's a change in anything, I would definitely move her there."

"My dad will be moving into Solstice Senior Living at Palatine. The person who took us on our tour was very helpful and friendly. Everyone in there was friendly. The place was clean. It smelled nice. It had all of the amenities we were looking for. When we left our tour, we got a thank you card and that just showed that they really care. They provide transportation. They provide meals. They provide laundry like washing your bed sheets, and they clean once a week. Everything is taken care of. They have a gym, a salon, and areas for the residents to hang out. I saw some of the residents walking down the hallway and they were smiling. They were friendly as well."

"I went to Grand Twin Lakes. I liked everything about it except they only had one-bedrooms in the place. They were a place that had been converted from a hotel to a senior living, and I like that very much. I saw a couple of the staff. The staff was great. It was clean. It looked great except they didn't have rooms in terms of this kind of space that I would like to have. It felt nice. The people there were nice. It was extremely clean and well-thought-out. My sister and I both liked it, but it was too small, and they just had one-bedrooms. Included in the rent was all meals and you got cleaning. But it felt more like assisted. The rooms looked brand new and felt brand new. The dining area was wide open. The impression I have of the whole place is that it's well-lit, and the part I saw had a lot of windows. They have activities. They had a fitness room and there were lots of activities for the residents. They have a place where they show movies at certain times, and they have a heated pool, a fitness center, and a game room. I saw some of the residents and they looked as if they were happy there. It was nice, but it didn't suit my needs. The staff I met were very nice."

"My parents lived here for 4 years and it was the best place for them. Although the later stages of life bring many challenges, I have more happy than sad memories of their days living here. Great food, wonderful, caring staff and lively and interesting entertainment. The physical therapy department helped my Dad walk again, after a terrible bout of spinal stenosis. I couldn't thank Hawthorn Lakes enough. "

"When I visited this facility, I was completely surprised over how warm and welcoming everyone was. I've been in facilities where it seems everyone just generally dislikes what they do and dislikes being there. This facility had none of those ideas or perceptions. The whole facility is warm and open for everyone, there are different wings where the living facilities are located. One wing is independent living, one wing is assisted living, one wing is the hopsital wing, and one wing is complete care. There are several areas and rooms where residents can meet with family or friends, and there is a beautiful chapel for daily and Sunday masses. There is a full fitness and physical therapy center for the residents, and there are daily and weekly activities for all of the residents. In fact, the weeks for the residents are full for just about every activity you can think of! This would be the type of facility I would want any of my family members at. "

"Everybody was unbelievable ,wonderful, and kind at Brookdale. They have a swimming pool, and they do have exercise equipment. There's a chapel and a rain forest, which is very interesting and very tropical. "

"I moved into Sedgebrook less than a year ago. I wanted to be of a vibrant and social community. You will make a lot of friends when you move in. The campus is large with activities located in various areas. The food is very good but the portions are massive, too much for me personally. The staff are wonderful! They always remember my name and say hello all the time. They are extremely friendly. The programs, especially the evening ones are my favorites."

"StoryPoint Libertyville is a very caring community. They make sure each individual is treated with dignity and respect. They have created a caring culture among the residents. They offer a wide variety of activities for people to participate in. This social interaction has been very beneficial for my mom. The rooms have been recently redone and provide a safe and home like feel. "

"The biggest selling point of GreenFields of Geneva for us was that it has a life plan, so my sister can stay there the rest of her life. She moved there a week ago, and she's in assisted living. Everyone there is very polite. The place is very clean, and the food smells wonderful. I'm very pleased. The staff is very helpful. They answer any questions that I have, and they seem to know what they're talking about. I haven't tasted the food, but it looks wonderful. It smells delicious, and everyone says it's very good. My sister is in quarantine right now because she came from another nursing home; she's not able to go down. They do bring her food up, and she's been very happy with it. Her room is clean and big enough. Her furniture fits well there, and she has a nice view outside. I've looked at several places and GreenFields is comparable or better than some of the other places that I looked at."

"We settled on Holmstad for mother. I liked the concept of a continuing care community, it was a large enough size, and financially stable. Additionally, they have catered care which was in between independent living and assisted living, which was appealing to us. We were looking at an apartment. I toured it four times, and for the different levels, they had different people that keep the residents engaged in social activities. The food was great."

"My boyfriend is staying in The Village at Victory Lakes for rehab. It's a nice room, but there's no shower or anything in the room. They have to take them to another place for showers. They check in on him periodically because he has a blood pressure issue. The only thing I don't like is just coming and going whenever they decide to have therapy. I think they need a schedule, but that's just me. I am a scheduled person. I've had their salads. It's all basic, and their entrees are okay. It's not their fault regarding his food because of his diet, but I have tried some of it. It's bland, but I'm sure that many older people can't have a spicy enchilada or something like that. He had the button in there and said he called eight times. I ended up having to call the front desk and get somebody to come. So that was the first night, and then the third night, he fell and had to go to the hospital in the rescue squad, but it's not necessarily their fault. He decided he wanted to get out of bed, but couldn't. It wasn't the staff, but it happened. I've seen them almost every other day. They'll come in, wash the floor, go underneath the beds, and wipe down all the furniture. They take him to therapy, or they'll weigh him, or take him for a shower, or that kind of stuff, but I have not seen any activities whatsoever."

"What I like the best about Generations at Oakton Arms is the cleanliness of the property and the amenities that they offer. The rooms were excellent. The staff member who toured me around was extremely professional and considerate of me moving in as a new tenant. I was very impressed."
