"My dad moved into The Atrium at Oak Crest Residence. The people that work there have been really great. They're friendly. Whenever I had issues or things I needed to bring up, they addressed it right away. So, it's also relaxed. And they're always making sure that my dad is getting involved with stuff. He's not just sitting in his room. So, it feels like a small community. It's not a huge facility, so it feels like everybody knows everybody and they know what's going on. And I can talk to whomever, so I think it's been good. The facility is clean. There's an older part and a newer part, and it's well taken care of. But it's not like fancy or anything. So, it's a very basic place, which is fine. It's what my dad needed. So, if you're looking for something fancier, this isn't the place, but it is a good basic facility. It has a comfortable and laid-back atmosphere."

"Sunnymere was clean. People were friendly. The rooms looked nice enough. It's not a five-star resort, but it looks very comfortable. The meals looked like they were good and they had a lot of activities. It looked like a place that my dad could maybe fit in and make some new friends. It's an older place. There might be some people who would say that it's not fancy enough or whatever, but it's homey looking. Everybody was friendly. I think it was Judy that was showing me around. Seemed like she knew what was going on. They went out of their way to make sure that they could give me a room that I felt my dad could be happy with. The grounds are beautiful. They have a new community room for activities and things, and that was really nice. Affordability was definitely the main concern for me, and I don't feel like I would be cutting corners putting my dad there just because it was the most affordable."

"When we started looking for a place to put my parents, we needed an Assisted Living for dad and a Nursing home for mom. The Meadows fit the bill with having both in the same campus within walking distance of each other. I visited the facility and talked to the residents. I got their opinion on living there. I didn't want staff to sugar coat anything I wanted to hear it from the people living there first hand. I asked them about the care, food, activities..etc. They had nothing but good things to share with me. They were all happy to be there and they all recommended the Meadows. That was good enough for me. My father was a resident of the Meadows for almost 4 years. I would visit him several times a day since I lived close by. When we were looking for a place for dad to go it was extremely important that he could go visit mom daily to check on her and that it felt like home. He did not want to go to a place that all they did was Bingo or Church services. He needed to be active and engaged. The Meadows was the perfect solution. The activity department kept him moving. He was not only going to Bingo but he was going to restaurants, fishing, trivia, socials, going to parks to listen to music, they had big socials every month where they dress up and play games to win prizes and he even attended art classes. baking club and so much more. He would have never did any of those when he lived at home. They made it fun so he didn't just sit in his room watching TV for hours each day. When we were looking for a place for him I didn't want anything in the city where there was traffic and noise. He loved the location of the Meadows. He would look out his room and see farm fields and animals. He would always say "I am home where I belong, I am in the country". I am truly thankful for the new life they gave my father. He was happy, made new friends and loved being a part of such a caring facility. There was no place I'd rather had him spend the rest of his life at. Take this review to heart because this review is from someone who knows first hand and seen the care they give every day to their residents. I am now volunteering at the Meadows and it continues to be a great place to bring your loved ones. It is still the fun, caring place it was a few years ago when my father was there. Give them a chance if you are looking for a place for your mom or dad. You won't be sorry."

"My brother-in-law moved to Bickford of Rockford. We've been impressed by how they have initiated, like, physical therapy, speech, and cognitive therapy. They have assessed him and provided different programming that meets his needs. The staff was attentive, accommodating, and cooperative. They've been great. My husband goes and has meals with his brother every day. My husband doesn't eat the full meal, but he likes the dessert or different little things so he can eat with him, and it's very good. The facility is very clean. It smells fresh. Just the other day when we visited, they had dog training that came in. There were different dogs that came in, so it was kind of a fun entertainment program. It is worth the money. The cost of being there seems to be less than the facilities that my other friends and relatives have. I have not price-checked them at all, but just talking with friends the value seems to be reasonable."

"Your needs would be well taken care of at Barb City Manor Retirement Home. They provide three meals a day and come around in the evening to check on you. It was a nice, clean place. The staff was very wonderful. They welcomed me with open arms and told me all I needed to know. They seemed like very caring people. Their dining room is very nice. They have movie nights, bingo, and various games and crafts. "

"I had chosen one already. It’s Sugar Grove Senior Living. First of all, I like it a lot. They have handicap and non-handicap units. There is a fitness room and a computer room. They have activities in the recreational room. Of course, they have a huge TV, videos, and Wii games for if you wanted to exercise besides the community room. They love social events. Everyone is really nice and caring. It’s a new building, so everybody is pretty much new to each other. I love it. I have a handicap unit, and it works perfect for me. "

"I'm on a waiting list for an apartment at The Landings. I thought the place was wonderful. It was new, only 2 years old. It was very bright and cheerful. The people were very friendly. Everybody that I met was really helpful. The woman who took me around on the tour knew every resident by name that we passed in the hallways, and I was very impressed with it. There was a fitness center, a craft room, a library, a couple of dining rooms, and a little bistro bar. The whole place was very clean and very well-kept. When I went there, we had snow recently, so I was a little concerned that it might be icy because I walk with a cane, but they had salted everything. I was able to park and walk into the front entrance. "

"The Reserve was new, and I liked the décor. The staff was very knowledgeable. They all had the correct answers, and they were friendly. "

"Carriage Oaks was a very lovely place, and the people were extremely friendly. It’s an economical alternative. My daughter recommends it. She works in a hospital when one of the patients told her how they love it there. People that live there tell us that when people have to leave they cry because they have to leave. They have different games on different days of the week. They have a nice newsletter. They have a happy hour every day. Monday to Friday in the evening if you want you can fix your own meal. They have church services, they do trips, and shopping. "

"We are moving into Silver Glen Senior Living. The place was beautiful. It looked very clean and very well taken care of. We chose a cottage that had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a 2-car garage, all connected. They had different activities that interested us, and everyone was very friendly. They had walking paths, physical therapy and occupational therapy, a movie theater, a beauty shop, and a barber shop, and they had many different clubs that you could join. They had transportation within 10 miles of the area. Every time we went there, they were taking care of the garden and they were taking care of the grass. It seemed like they were keeping up with the outside setting."

"Geneva Place was very organized, and I talked to several people who lived there, and they liked it very well. It was a new place. When they first opened it up, they were selling condominiums, and that did go over because of this recession that we had. Now, they opened it up for independent living, they were renting these places, they really did a nice job, and they were putting a new addition there now. "

"Hunt Club Village is located in a wooded area. The place was nice and fun. I liked it. "

"I toured Sun City Huntley. I liked that it was looking very clean and organized. They were very helpful with our tour. We liked it very much. The layout was nice. For amenities there were three swimming pools and one outside swimming pool, there's a golf course, there's tennis, and there's pickleball. They take you out to the theater. You wouldn't be able to sit down and wonder what to do. There are so many activities to join in, as well as educational programs and physical exercises. This is all very appealing."

"I have moved into Fox River Horizon. It's friendly. They have a few activities here that I could enjoy. They have pinochle, bingo, billiards, and parties. So far, it's pretty good. There's no meal, but the physical appearance and upkeep is all good. The value for the money is good too."
