"My parents are moving into Sunnymere, and I was very happy with it. The people working there are very nice and smiling, informative, and caring. The building was kinda old, but it was well kept up. The rooms were a little small, however, I can live with that. I like the activities with them every day, they're always able to go into the general activity room. They have two coordinators, one that gives the exercise to do, and another one that goes around to assist them when needed, and they have a lot of different activities as far as playing games and so forth, and just so many different things that I was very impressed with."

"The Woodlands at Canterfield was beautiful. The apartments were fine, clean, nice, and brand new. We met with several people and they were all very nice and professional. They had a bunch of games going. It's brand new so there were not that many people there yet. We saw people in the lunchroom and it looked very nice. The dining area was beautiful. I didn't eat there. My brother and my mom ate there and they said the food was excellent. We met with several different people and overall everybody was great, but some were better than others."

"The Meadows of Franklin Grove was a nice facility, and the people were nice. The place was clean, and they had an art room, a baking room where you could go if you want to bake something, and a very nice basement. They have a really nice storage area like when you want to bring stuff and you don't want to get rid of it, you can store it. They were pretty decent. "

"I was impressed with the grounds of Bickford of Rockford. Outside, there were a lot of flowers, and the entranceway was very welcoming. They served 3 meals a day, and the staff was knowledgeable and approachable. I'd like to join their residents' council, crafts, and music. "

"I can honestly say that the staff at Barb City Manor is amazing. They were so wonderful at contacting us whenever they saw trouble. They never hesitated to keep us informed. "

"I had chosen one already. It’s Sugar Grove Senior Living. First of all, I like it a lot. They have handicap and non-handicap units. There is a fitness room and a computer room. They have activities in the recreational room. Of course, they have a huge TV, videos, and Wii games for if you wanted to exercise besides the community room. They love social events. Everyone is really nice and caring. It’s a new building, so everybody is pretty much new to each other. I love it. I have a handicap unit, and it works perfect for me. "

"I'm on a waiting list for an apartment at The Landings. I thought the place was wonderful. It was new, only 2 years old. It was very bright and cheerful. The people were very friendly. Everybody that I met was really helpful. The woman who took me around on the tour knew every resident by name that we passed in the hallways, and I was very impressed with it. There was a fitness center, a craft room, a library, a couple of dining rooms, and a little bistro bar. The whole place was very clean and very well-kept. When I went there, we had snow recently, so I was a little concerned that it might be icy because I walk with a cane, but they had salted everything. I was able to park and walk into the front entrance. "

"Located near a busy commercial shopping district, this facility is in excellent condition. It was built in the last 10 years and all of the grounds are in excellent condition. The unit my grandparents have is very nice, they have not had a problem with the construction or any other aspect of their unit. The Reserve of Geneva is a very friendly and welcoming place. The staff is very helpful and there is an on-site mechanical person to take care of anything that does go wrong like changing out a microwave or helping out with the plumbing. The facility also has a van for giving rides to the residents. They receive rides to doctor's appointments and trips to local shopping like the grocery store. Staying at a place like the Reserve of Geneva can be expensive but I believe that the value you receive is worth it. It provides an excellent facility for your loved ones to be active in and also provides the family with peace of mind. This is not a nursing home but rather a very nice assisted living community. I highly recommend it if you are considering moving yourself or an elderly member of your family into an assisted living community. The nearby hospital - Delnor - is a good facility to and is just down the road from the Reserve. "

"Carriage Oaks had about the same activities like in all the rest of the places, and they seemed to be well-managed. It was very clean. It was probably the lowest-priced that I looked at. "

"I liked Silver Glen Senior Living. I liked the apartments, the people, the grounds, and their programs on how they can take care of me. I wanted one that has independent living, assisted, and then memory care so that I may never have to leave again. They have puzzles, a theater, a lot of community rooms, a lot of programs scheduled, and a dining room. I was very pleased. There's a pavilion and a fairly large outdoor space, then in certain parts of the grounds there were more green paths. The two-bedroom apartment I chose would be on the third floor, and it looks out over a pond with a fountain. They have a doctor that comes in a couple of times a month and there's a garage for my car with lots of storage."

"Geneva Place was very organized, and I talked to several people who lived there, and they liked it very well. It was a new place. When they first opened it up, they were selling condominiums, and that did go over because of this recession that we had. Now, they opened it up for independent living, they were renting these places, they really did a nice job, and they were putting a new addition there now. "

"Hunt Club Village has basically the same thing as with the other community except the only difference is they did have trips where everybody can go whether it is going to the casino or the movies. They did have that, which is very nice. All these places do take them to the stores for whatever they need. The staff was very nice and very accommodating as far as providing the opportunity to go in there. They are very good about keeping me posted as to what is coming based on what we were looking for, so they are very good. They have a food area but they don't have food on a regular basis. They don't have meals there. The rooms were very nice, and actually they are of a good size. The facilities were very clean. As far as security, it was nice. You have to be buzzed in, and you can't just walk right in. They did check you in if you were there to see somebody and who you were there to see. The only drawback about it is they don't allow pets. "

"If Heavan is anything close to living at Sun city Huntley for last 17 years, I am in. People, activities and facilities 1st class!"
