"I toured The Grand Victorian of Sycamore. It was a very welcoming place, very bright, very clean, and had a lot of options. We had a very extensive visit and met a lot of the staff. We learned a lot of things. They were very helpful. The food wasn't the most delicious, but depends on your taste and what's offered that day. It was nicely done. It was a beautiful facility. It was extremely nice."

"My wife is a resident of PA Peterson at the Citadel. I would not put her there if I didn't believe it was a good situation. They're very good. That's what they do. I communicate with the staff quite a bit in the open. They answer my questions. I like them. They're good. Everything is top-notch in this facility. I don't know how to put it any other way. I spent my time finding the right place, and that was the one. It's clean and organized, and there seems to be plenty of help."

"My mom is pretty set to choose Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for herself. The staff was wonderful and caring. It was a nice facility. It was clean, spacious, and welcoming. There were lots of activities going on while we were there. The residents were very active. They were eating together, doing puzzles, exercising, and all sorts of stuff. They have exercise rooms, activity rooms, and lounges on every floor. They had beautiful grounds. There was a wooded area with walking trails, and we saw a lot of seniors walking and exercising."

"Siena on Brendenwood is in the same parking lot as the church that I go to, which is one reason I chose it. The appearance is beautiful. It's very clean and very neat. We saw one room that was vacant, and it was a one-bedroom. I didn't see a two-bedroom because they didn't have any that were vacant at the time. The person during the tour was wonderful. She sent me the packet about it a couple of weeks before the tour, so I had all my questions ready for her to answer. She was very, very gracious and knew what she was talking about. I didn't sample the food. The dining area was very nice. They have a smaller one, and then they have the regular large one that they have for breakfast and supper. Lunch is not included. Like most places, they publish what they're going to do that month. We have an outdoor theater here in Rockford, and they were going a couple of times that month to the outdoor theater and they had stuff at their own place. They had lots of activities. They had stuff for exercising, like most places do. The rooms were bigger than some of the places around here. They're all lovely, like the one that we were in; they refinished everything. I know that when you go there, you get a choice of what kind of flooring you want. They have a washer and dryer in each room. They have a full kitchen and it has all the appliances, but not much cupboard space. They're assuming you're going to be eating most of your meals out in their main dining room."

"I can't think of any. The staff I spoke with when I was exploring the option of moving here provided all the information I needed to make my decision. They were very supportive as my husband was very ill and eventually passed away before I could make the decision for both of us to move. As soon as I was able to continue the process they were most helpful. I couldn't move til summer when my kids could come and help and they accommodated that. Everyone was so helpful with the redecorating and purchasing appliances. "

"We visited TLC Living Community and it's a very nice facility but it is assisted living only with no memory care and that means they don't lock their doors. TLC was a great facility and a mostly brand-new building. It's only been there for years. The staff was very friendly and nice. They had a small patio on the side of the building but no security there at all. If somebody went out from that facility, just this patio area, they could walk away from the building."

"We chose Willowick - Beloit Campus for my father-in-law, but I don't really recommend this place. They just don't have enough people, and I don't think they have the experience that they need to take care of people in memory care. There are only three staff members dealing with about 20 residents. They're also kind of lazy. They just let everybody do whatever they want to do. There are residents who go and wander from room to room. The rooms are really nice, and they do all kinds of activities, which is great. The place is brand new and they clean it. It's just the interaction with the residents I find kind of poor."

"Cedar Crest is where I got my mother-in-law right now. They keep track of their residents. They know where they are. They check in the rooms on them. They have all kinds of different activities going on that they come in and check with them, see if they want to go, and bring them out to. The food is exceptional from what my mother-in-law tells me. It's a caring group. The staff is real pleasant to be around and they're real pleasant with their residents. They have enough staff that they're able to be with each individual resident. The facility is beautiful. They have a workout place where they take the residents to. They have a place to cut their hair and just everything that a resident needs. They took her to an exercise class where they sat down there and had everybody do exercises. They get them up and walk through the day with them. They've got an area that they go to and play cards. My mother-in-law told me she goes and plays cards with other people."

"River Place Senior Apartments was very nice and very clean. The people were very friendly. We met some ladies that were playing cards there and some of the staff and they were all very nice. The apartment was also laid out very nicely. It was senior-friendly and very spacious. They have a community room that has a kitchen and stuff like that where they can gather. The dining area was very spacious and clean, too. It's in a very safe place and the residents looked out for each other. It's very close to the hospital and medical facilities."

"My mother lived in Willard Haus Senior Apartments for 15 years. It's a nice place, but the apartments needed to be upgraded. There really wasn't a staff. There's a manager and a maintenance facility. It's totally independent, but it was for seniors. It's right within walking distance of everything. The old staff wasn't that good, but the new staff was a 5. Shopping is next door within 100 feet. It's excellent for what you're paying for."

"Your needs would be well taken care of at Barb City Manor Retirement Home. They provide three meals a day and come around in the evening to check on you. It was a nice, clean place. The staff was very wonderful. They welcomed me with open arms and told me all I needed to know. They seemed like very caring people. Their dining room is very nice. They have movie nights, bingo, and various games and crafts. "
