"I like the way they screen their employees at Bright Star. We've been using this agency since February. The care we receive is great. The caregiver keeps the house clean, does the dishes and helps with preparing meals. She has a very pleasant attitude and is a hard worker. I really like the way she just goes about doing the work without us having to direct her. She just comes in and starts doing it. I would highly recommend Bright Star's services. "

"We hired Visiting Angels for my mother-in-law. She had them for two or three years now, but they'll be starting up services again shortly. They're here when they say they're going to be here. They've provided great care to Mom. She's felt very comfortable with them. When there's a problem, she or I will call; we get a response right away. With Covid, it's been a little difficult right now. They've worked hard to get help, just good communication, and good care. My mother-in-law had one main caregiver. Unfortunately, she left in May. Alisha was great. Mom really liked her. They got along well. No complaints. She did wonderful. They sent mom an invoice. They have the hours listed and how much she owes. We already know the rate. If Mom disputes anything (which there hasn't really been), Mom will just pay them. It's worked out well. Mom keeps a folder, so she knows that she's paid for this month; then she moves on to the next. They provide transportation to doctor's, assistance with showering, assistance with meals, cleaning, laundry, taking the trash out to the road, and bringing the mail in (which is just right outside the door). They do it just to be nice. She was only getting six hours a week at that time, and she's going to be getting more this time; we're going to have to have a combination of a couple. Since we trust Visiting Angels, that's who we want to go with. They're working hard to make it possible."

"I have been using Compassionate Care Services - Rockford, IL for three weeks now. They are very good. They're doing some personal care, laundry, and companionship for my mom. She's in a facility where she gets some supportive services, but I have Compassionate Care basically as a supplement. They come in for three hours a day and two days a week. The first caregiver didn't work out, but the second one could be a good choice. The management has been great."

"I am using Help at Home and it's very fine. I have a very, very good caregiver. I have 20 hours and she works with me all week except for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. She does light housekeeping, we go to the groceries, doctors' appointments, and shopping. I've had them since about five years, and four of them is with my current health caregiver. She is a great person. She is very caring. You can never get through on the phone with them though, but one time my caregiver had a day off, and they wanted to know if I was OK. And my gosh, I had a lot of people that day here, so I had some help as well."

"We are using Community Care right now. They are not doing a good job; not one that I’m satisfied with, at least. My mother needs care four days a week, and they send someone three days a week. On the fourth day, she is left alone. I am not pleased with that. I am actively looking for another agency in the area. Their scheduling isn’t good, but their billing is OK. She gets her bill paid through Medicaid. The quality of the people they are sending is not that good. They supply her with someone for about five hours, four days a week. She has early Alzheimer’s, so they are there to make her food, do her laundry, clean her house, take her where she needs to go, and help her shower. The couple of people who they sent have been OK. They sent a young man out and my mother said that he was very good. He went into the basement and did the laundry and folded it and she thought that was really nice. I talked to a couple of the ladies on the phone who told us what they were not going to do. They weren't asked to do anything out of the ordinary, but she asked one of the ladies to vacuum the stairs and she said she was not going to do that because she thought that was dangerous."

That's working out for what she needs right now. I was impressed with the background check, the things they do for their workers, and the training they provide them. Their workers are very friendly and cheerful, since Mom has been dealing with depression. They've been very encouraging to her. They also tried to match a person to her. My mother-in-law is very religious and they tried to take that into account. A couple of women who came seemed to share it with her because you could tell that they are Christians. They would comment on things to her, and it made her feel comfortable. She had basically the same person for quite a while before the person left the agency. For now she has a new young girl who is very sweet and is a hard worker. If Mom asks her to do things this way, she accommodates it. Mom is actually doing better now. "
