Rockford Home Care Resources

Home care services are only one of the pieces needed for seniors to gracefully age in place. There are many services and programs that are low-cost or free, that enable seniors to enjoy an independent lifestyle in the comfort of their own home, such as help with home modifications, meal delivery services, and more. Below, we’ve compiled a few of the most helpful resources in Rockford:

Meals on Wheels

Address: 705 Kilburn Ave., Rockford, IL 61101
Phone Number: (815) 963-1609

This program offers hot, nutritious home-delivered meals to homebound seniors aged 60 and older who are unable to cook for themselves and don’t have anyone to cook for them. This service is free of charge, though there’s a suggested donation based on income. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday, with additional evening and weekend meals available. Meals are also provided at various Lifescape senior dining sites, where seniors have the opportunity to participate in educational and informational activities or relax and socialize with other seniors.

Northwestern Illinois Area Agency on Aging

Address: 1111 S. Alpine Rd, Suite 600, Rockford, IL 61108
Phone Number: (815) 226- 4901

NIAAA is a nonprofit organization designed to meet the needs of seniors and their families by providing information about and assistance with aging in place. The knowledgeable staff offers resources for caregiver, grandparent, respite and emergency services. NIAAA representatives can help with meals, transportation and medication management, in addition to connecting seniors with general wellness programs and proper legal services.

Weatherization Program

Address: 612 N. Church St., Rockford, IL 61103
Phone Number: (844) 710-6919

The Weatherization Program helps seniors and low-income families reduce their homes’ energy usage. In addition to reducing utility bills, using less energy improves indoor air quality and increases comfort. Free upgrades may include insulation, door sweeps, weather stripping, window air sealing/caulking, LED light bulbs, faucet aerators, showerheads, furnace repair/replacement, programmable thermostats, continuous ventilation and fan air conditioning replacement.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Address: 100 W. Randolph St., Chicago, IL 60601
Phone Number: 100 W. Randolph St., Chicago, IL 60601

Through initiatives designed to assist low-income households with energy costs, LIHEAP helps reduce the risk of health and safety problems associated with unsafe heating and cooling practices. Assistance with home energy bills, energy crises, weatherization and minor home repairs related to energy is provided on a federally funded basis. Priority is given to seniors 60 years old and over.
