"Lincolnwood Place felt more like home. It's an older facility, but it's been remodeled, and it looks nice. They had spacious apartments. The staff was very accommodating. They have two meals a day. It was nice that you could stay in your independent living home and move to assisted living. I like the flexibility. They gave us some cookies. My mom tried it, and she liked it. They had a nice garden area for people to go outside if they wanted to. They have a beauty salon and a physical therapy area."

"The Merion was at the top of my list. I met the sales person. He was very friendly, very open, and answered all of my questions. He was not a hard sell at all. The apartments were a little disappointing, though. The older building was less expensive but you're also paying for a furnished apartment. The new section was very modern, which I really liked, but it was a little bit more expensive. For the meals, they surpassed the other community. The food was excellent. Also you can eat at any of one of their restaurants, which all serve something different. They have a piano or a bar lounge, which is open to the public. They allow them to come in and enjoy meals, drinks, and music. It is more open, so it's a big plus."

"I went to Addolorata Villa. It was a very pleasant tour. It was an older building than the other one. Because I am a Catholic, it offered the religious services that I would like. The woman giving the tour kind of focused on activities and seemed interested in learning what my interests and hobbies were to make sure that we were making a good fit and I think it could be. I felt they had a very good activity schedule that you could be as busy 24/7 if you cared to be. There was a very pleasant large deck-type area where they have the raised beds for gardening, which appeal to me. I don't do any gardening at my home because I can't get down on my hands and knees, so I thought that was nice and pleasant. It's a very pretty campus. It kind of reminded me of a college campus. We were thereafter lunchtime. We weren't offered a meal, but she offered beverages and snacks and brought a large basket of snacks in while we were talking."

"We visited the Moorings, and it was very beautiful, but the way that they get their buy-in almost priced my mom out right away. It was very nice. She would have been happier because it was just so pretty, but it was a smaller community. I really like the grounds and the outside area. It just was very quiet, serene. It had a very comfortable, relaxing feel. The rooms were beautiful. The staff was very bright and willing to share the different activities with us. "

"Autumn Green at Wright Campus was very nice and very modern. I was very comfortable there. The woman who gave me the tour was pleasant and well informed. The food was good. I had a free lunch there and the dining area was very pleasant. They had an area for playing cards. They had outside parking available which was very nice and that was a plus."

"The apartment we saw at Sedgebrook was large and very nice. There were a lot of activities, both indoor and outdoor."

"I toured Clarendale Six Corners for my uncle. It's convenient. They seem to care, and that he's going to get the care that he needs. It seemed like a nice place. The staff was very friendly, very informative, and caring. The facility was brand-new. The size of the room was adequate and seemed to have a positive atmosphere."

"The Grand is a new place, just two years old. My impression was good. It is in a nice location. There were some activities going on. The lady who was in charge of greeting people and giving them the tour was very good. The dining area was nice and good, too. This community was very open. There were lots of windows and it felt like it was a bright open place. The fact that it joins up to the forest reserve is another good selling point. I didn't expect it to be right next to a forest reserve, which is very nice. It is an area where you can walk."

"In general, I think that this is a beautiful facility, obviously upscale, but in extremely good taste. There is a library and a little shopping area with candy and jewelry. There is a very nice dining area. The lobby is spacious and comfortable. The receptionist is friendly and helpful. The one draw back is the parking in the back of the building, which is often full and it is hard to find parking on the street. This is definately an urban setting. Many of the patients are Holocaust survivors. The staff are very helpful and will work with the patient and the family if there are financial or other problems. The facility offers an array of activities -- opera programs, ice cream socials, current events, etc. The facility also provides religious programming and services for the mainly Jewish population. There are individual apartments where residents can live in an independent living situation. There is also continued care and nursing home facility on other floors. On the top floor is a lovely activity room with glass windows. Sometimes there is a pianist who plays music. Patients can go up and get an icecream cone or can go out on the roof patio when the weather is nice. I would highly recommend this facility. The patients that I talked to seemed happy because there are many activities that are offered. "

"We toured Solstice Senior Living at Palatine. It was absolutely great. It was fantastic. It would meet my dad's needs for sure. We saw the rooms and we saw the dining area, but that really isn't a lot. There is more to look at there. There are a couple of different options, one being a studio versus a separate one-bedroom. They're small. It was clean. It looked like there was sufficient space for a single person. The bathroom, it's a good size. The staff was great and friendly. There's a receptionist when you come in as well. She's also very friendly and helpful. The person who ran the tour was accommodating, and friendly, spent time discussing, took us on a tour, and provided information. I think it would be a nice location for somebody being downtown Palatine. It is close to the community and it would have been closer to us."

"We visited Brookdale in Vernon Hills, and they were fine. The staff seems to be friendly. It was clean, but I wouldn't say it was spacious. They do some recreational activities, like I know they have the residents playing cards, exercising, having social events, and going on trips. "

"I am so grateful my mom Is at Brookdale because I know she is getting excellent care. The staff is caring and professional. While my mom doesn’t partake in many activities she enjoys them when she does They throw occasional parties which everyone seems to love. "

"Concord Place was very clean and very nice. My only concern was that the rooms were so small. It used to be a hotel and I didn't see any residents. It also didn't seem like they had enough help for my needs. I've known people who have lived there and moved back here for that same reason. "
