"I had my mom for a short time at The Village at Victory Lakes and they were awesome. They were very good. The food was fantastic. She loved the food. The staff was very caring and very compassionate there. It was very clean. It was more of a home feeling than a hospital feeling. With COVID, a lot of the activities were shut down at this point, and my mom also was in a situation where she couldn't participate in it. She was there for rehab for a while as well as hospice."

"The British Home (Cantata Adult Life Services) is very well-maintained on the interior. It's very well-organized and clean. The staff was exceptional in getting my aunt placed there. The food is acceptable. They have a beauty parlor, interactive sessions, arts and crafts, and outings."

"We visited a place called Greek American; it was a gorgeous place, but we couldn't afford it. It was probably the most beautiful facility I have ever seen. Their secured unit, you have to have a code to get in the elevator and go up there. But you walk in there, and you don't even see a nurse's desk. It is kind of hidden behind some walls or something. What they have upfront looks like a porch with rocking chairs, so the residents can sit on the porch and rock. They had several dining areas that were very home-looking. Really, it was a gorgeous, elegant place, and even though it was more expensive than I could afford, it actually was less expensive than those other places, which I don't think were any nicer than where my husband is at now. "

"My wife is at Bella Terra Wheeling for the past two months and we have nothing but high praise for the administration, Doctors, nurses, CNA's as well as all the support staff. the food is outstanding and varied and served hot. My wife is being treated for some difficult physical problems and has excellent care. Kudos to all the personnel at Bell Terra Wheeling."

"My sister will move into Elevate Care Riverwoods. I liked the cleanliness, and it smelled good. Everything was fine. It's close to our house. They have the activities that they said they provide, the meals, the accommodations, and the rooms, and everything was very nice. The staff was fine and informative and understood what I needed. This isn't quite as nice a place, but it's good. It's more of a hospital-like feel. They talked of games that they play, the interactions, and getting the people out of their rooms and engaging with other people."

"This facility is part of a corporate chain and this particular building is relatively new, meaning less than 15 years old. It is set in a busy area next to a restaurant and right off the highway. The highway allows convenient communting but the setting limits available outdoor space. There are some outdoor sitting areas that residents and families use but it it difficult to 'go for a walk'. The common areas are spacious and tastefully decorated providing multiple options for relaxing and visiting. The resident rooms are fairly typical in size, perhaps a bit larger than average. Some private rooms are available though most are shared. All rooms are tastefully furnished. The food is average to above average with most meals appearing appetizing. The staffing is average with adequate number of staff available most of the time. Care rendered is kind, patient and compassionate. "

"I was in for phys. and occupational therapy for 51 days I enjoyed the variety of food offered, even hard boiled eggs and lox and bagels for breakfast. Dinner had a scratch made soup every day with to or three entrees if nothing appealed burgers, hot dogs & grilled cheese can be ordered. The nurses are competent and the CNA's friendly but stretched thin. Therapists are top notch and want you to improve. While I was there they had a holiday party with a huge buffet on each floor and multiple entertainers on each floor. A nice touch Is free ice cream and fresh pop corn for guests every afternoon "

"Symphony of Buffalo Grove was a nice place. It was a lot friendlier and there's a lot more to do over there. I had to go there for rehab one time, and I was there for about four weeks. It seemed nicer, the staff wasn't the greatest, but they were alright. They were pretty good to me, more friendly and they helped me a lot more. The food was pretty good. They would come by and say if we wanted ice cream. We're always able to go downstairs and have popcorn from the popcorn machine if we wanted it. They even had a little area where you could get coffee if you wanted to or they had pastries and stuff. It was really nice and really friendly over there. They had activities but I didn't have the opportunity to use them. I know they have bingo and sometimes they were in the theater. They have certain movies and stuff they would show. It seemed like there were more activities there. I like the location, it was nice. I was close to the one hospital I was going to and I only lived a block down the road at one time, so I was close to where I lived too. There is shopping right there and right across the street was a mall."

"My father was at Renaissance Gardens Sedgebrook for about one month. He was brought there straight from the hospital and it was like a resort. The people were good and the food was good too. It was clean and pleasant. Everything was wonderful. "

"Manorcare, a corporate chain, is fairly consistent in how their facilities look, how they operate, and what standard of quality they adhere to. The Northbrook Manorcare resembles several other suburban Manorcares and provides an expected, quality level of service in both short term rehab and long term care. This building is situated on the far northwest edge of Northbrook, accessible from Milwaukee Avenue and close to the tollway. The outdoor space is fairly limited, though enough that families can sit outside and visit. The interior is tastefully decorated and maintained in a generally clean and neat fashion. Resident rooms are average size and most are shared. There is room to bring in a few personal items, but not too much. The food is average to above average with some meals that appear very good, and others that look to be fair. Staff is pleasant, friendly and helpful. Care rendered is generally kind and compassionate and most families voice overall satisfaction with their care experience. "

"As you go into Citadel of Northbrook, it is an attractive and inviting place. Inside, it is very clean and very orderly. My husband was well taken care of physically. They were attentive to everything he needed. The room he had was quite nice. It had big windows. There were windows on the side. I was there every single day. There might have been one or two days in five weeks that I wasn't there. He was prescribed a couple of different medicines that I didn't know about. Nobody talked to me about it. As we were leaving, they said, "Oh, this was for diabetes, and here is another one for depression." Yes, he has diabetes, but they didn't talk to me about it. I thought that they should have explained it to me. The one for depression was OK. I knew we were going to do that. However, I asked three times for the psychiatrist to talk to me, and they never did."

"Both short-term rehab and long term care are provided at the Arlington of Long Grove. The building is conveniently located in a safe area somewhat in between a residential neighborhood and a business district. It is nice that the parking lot is very large so that a space is always available. The facility provides enclosed, secure outdoor space for residents and visitors that is not huge but is adequate, comfortable, and well maintained. There are nice and spacious common areas in some parts of the facility, such as the lobby and the dining areas, but most space is designated and visiting primarily seems to occur in resident rooms. Rooms are of above average size for the most part, so visiting in the rooms is comfortable. Room size also allows residents to bring in small personal items to make things more home-like. Rooms have variable amounts of natural light depending on location. The food is average and residents typically do not rave about it but also do not overly complain. Staffing is good and most often sufficient to meet resident's needs, providing kind and compassionate care. "

"This facility provides care to a small number of residents(93 in total). There is a full service staff that provides quality services to residents on a continual basis. This facility accepts skilled level of care, as well as short term rehab services. They do not have an on-site dialysis center, they residents are escorted off premsis if this service is needed. The food is prepared tray style, and there is open availibility for new admissions. The staff were very hands-on with the residents, and the residents appear to be well connected to the staff. I witnessed alot of positive communications going on in the building. I would rank this facility a 5 out of 5 stars. "
