"My mom moved into Covenant Living at the Holmstad. We chose it because of the location and quality of care. It seemed like my mom could graduate from independent living through some of the other steps if needed. They have very nice swimming facilities. They have all kinds of activities, a gym, and a pool. Everything seemed to be very well maintained and staffed. The staff members seemed to all be very nice. The food is good."

"My mother has severe Alzheimers and has been residing at the Self Help home for the past 4 years.She entered with only mild dementia and living independently until she became more and more impaired. Her 85th birthday is in a few weeks , and although she doesnt appear to know who we are anymore. at least shes around to celebrate it. Self Help home has made us,her family, feel safe .My mom has had excellent care there all these years , and the administration and staff there have been very warm and nurturing throughout these very difficult years. "My aunt and uncle shared a room in the nusing unit of the health care wing for two years. The staff was very caring and engaging. They encouraged them to join activities; and several family day social events were held during the year. The rooms were very clean, but needed updating. We chose this facility because it is run by the Franciscan Sisters and is part of the Catholic Archdioses. Mass was held every Sunday morning in the chapel, and is also televised. Overall, I was very happy with the staff and got to know many of them. Anytime I had a concern about my aunt or uncle, the head nurse and nurse on duty would address it immediately. "

"I visited my grandmother at Three Crowns Park, and I love the facility. It has all the different amenities. The rooms are nice, clean, and comfortable. Most of the staff are friendly. They also have a lot of activities offered for her. They take the residents to parks, and they have music in the evening, so those are good. "

"This facility was where we took my grandmother for her full time assisted care and then end stage care when she was no longer ambulatory. I have a lot of experiences in and out of assisted living facilities being a retired Paramedic and by far this facility exceeded my expectations and hopes. The facility was always clean, the staff was very attentive and understanding of the patients and families needs. My grandmother had severe dementia and had very short term memory and they showed nothing but patience and compassion. At the end, the staff was with us to the end, comforting and caring both to my grandmother and to our entire family and even afterwards, helping with the greiving process. Should the day come where my child needs to place me in an assisted living facility, I surely hope that she would choose Beacon Hill for me. "

"My wife, Ann, and I moved to Oak Trace in 2010. We feel very blessed and fortunate to be living at Oak Trace over the past 10 years. Throughout this pandemic, the Oak Trace administration and staff have been very cautious and careful and watchful for all of us. As with everyone in most places we are on “lock down” -- meals are delivered to our rooms at our requested times, and masks are always worn by staff and encouraged by residents when out of our apartments. While all programs -- which in “normal time” are very extensive in entertainment, inspiration and education – are now cancelled, the Oak Trace in-house TV brings programs throughout every day, including exercise, devotional/inspirational messages, and entertainment to keep us involved and connected. The meals are extraordinary in variety and taste and nutrition, all delivered. Some items can be purchased on site. In cases of need the staff even makes grocery store purchases and delivery. All in all, we believe that Oak Trace is an almost perfect place to be isolated during this pandemic. It will end before many new people move in, but be assured that the care and concern for each resident will continue when the “new normal” takes effect! "

"Windsor Park is close to me, and the staff all seems very nice. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. They have a variety of food. We know a lot of people that lives there, it’s a friendly place, and it’s a Christian-based organization. The price was good. They have a fitness center, and they go out to do trips. "

"While driving through the western suburbs of Chicago, we decided to stop in and visit Plymouth Place, since we were looking for an assisted living facility where our aunt could live. We were impressed that they could accommodate our last-minute visit. The area is convenient for our aunt, who has many friends in the area. The main area seemed clean and well tended. The staff was very nice and seemed to treat the residents kindly. They also accommodate most senior circumstances with a variety of living options available. We thought our aunt would like the little park area outside, which was close to the main door. We also thought it looked as though the staff could easily manage all of the residents, which is important to us. Our aunt has a tendency to wander off at times, so her safety is a concern for us. They have a variety of the typical activities that assisted living facilities usually have "“ plus more and they take suggestions from family, friends and residents. The food looked well-prepared and appetizing and smelled very good. The dining room had a homey, nice vibe with comfortable furnishings. The rooms we saw were all nicely decorated "“ and better looking than the main room we first saw. The exercise room was well equipped and offered classes regularly. The book selection, which is important to our aunt "“ was quite nice. Overall, the facility looked like a nice place to live for seniors and the staff was very accommodating. "

"King-Bruwaert House actually has a couple of levels. It has assisted living and an infirmary type of nursing home if you get ill. If a person needs more assistance, they don't have to change their facility. They stay in the same place and move back and forth in the system as needed. I think the facility is beautiful. It is located in a nice wooded area. Their little villages are very well maintained, and the people there are happy. It is a beautiful and serene place. "

"We like our visit at The Lakes at Waterford as they have very friendly people. The place is also very nice. This facility is our second choice when we are ready to move to one. The rooms were very nice too. They had us there for dinner and everybody was very sociable and that is what I like about them. "

"We explored Central Baptist Village while searching in a facility for our mother who, at the time, had just progressed definitely into what most would call "mid stage" dementia. Our mother's condition was especially critical in our consideration of Central Baptist Village, as opposed to other facilities; I say this because while Central Baptist is clearly a well-run facility with many positive attributes, it may not be the best environment for those who still have the majority of their faculties and are able to function independently. Central Baptist is, indeed, a "village". By this I mean that it consists of three different entities all on the same campus- a senior living apartment complex, an assisted-living facility, and a full-care nursing facility. In this sense, it may be ideal for those seeking long-term stability for those only recently diagnosed with a progressive, debilitating disease. One can establish residence in the independent-living area, then move to other facilities as their condition requires; once at central Baptist Village, one can remain there indefinitely. However, having no need for the independent living or the full-care elements, I can only relay our impression of the assisted living facility. The grounds- set in a pleasant suburban environment- were inviting, and the amenities included inviting common areas and an attractive chapel; however, the overall atmosphere, while efficient and clean, was more "clinical" than we thought ideal for someone still able to comprehend their surroundings. The broad and open hallways, though extremely functional, lacked any considerable warmth; the rooms, though ample in size, lacked personality. Though warmer than hospital rooms, they were decidely utilitarian. Perhaps the most unappealing aspect of the facility was that all residents with any sort of memory issue were under considerable restriction. The majority of the common areas were accessable to residents only with supervision. Of course, while this situation is completely appropriate- ideal, actually- for those whose dementia has advanced to the point where confusion is common, the level of restriction we observed was, we felt , unnecessary and intimidating for those still with their wits about them. In summation, Central Baptist Village's assisted living component is an efficient and comprehensive place for those requiring continuous supervision. The knowledge that one can remain at Central Baptist through their final days is also a considerable asset to many. However, the atmosphere here might not be particularly therapeutic to, nor appreciated by, those who are not yet resigned to their condition."

"This facility is located on the north side of chicago it serves a population of adults who have been diagnoised with a developmental disability. They only provide services to female residents. While there I noticed some of the residents were sharing a room. They have a full clinical staff that provides services to the residents 24 hrs a day. the meals are prepared by the staff, and on special occassions and when doing food activites, the staff will allow the residents to assist in the preparation of the meals. The facility is clean, and well-maintained. The staff is very hands on, and the residents seem to have a closeness with one another. In general, I would rank this facility a 4 out of 5 stars. "
