"I toured the facility for my uncle who was looking for an Assisted Living facility. I was very impressed. I had an opportunity to dine there and the lunchroom was clean bright and the food was delicious. My uncle decided to live at Riverwoods and it was the most wonderful experience. The staff is very caring for the residents, they were outstanding in his care and I could not have been happier that we found such a wonderful place. Everyone from the receptionist to the medical staff goes out of their way to make his experience a happy and productive one. I cannot thank them enough. "

"I went here. I was waiting 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. When I saw the person, he was in a hurry. So, he quickly gave me a folder and showed me a room, and that was it. He showed me a studio. It was open. It was nice, but that's all they showed me. It's modern. It was beautiful, including the grounds and the facility, and there were a lot of parking spots and handicapped spots. The staffing, wonderful nurses, and CNAs were friendly and attentive to the residents."

"Brookdale Glen Ellyn would have been my first choice, but they did not have an apartment available. I loved the pool, and the rooms were nice. The grounds looked wonderful. It was located right next to a park. It had a lot of open spaces. They also had a beautiful courtyard. The person who gave me the tour was new, so he didn't have a lot of answers to my questions."

"What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? It is located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. When you first enter the building, there is a smiling face greeting you, Kristina: “Hi, may I help you?” She will steer you to Sandy, Denise or Gigi to help you. These individuals are very knowledgeable about this location. This five-story building is very clean. When walking the hall, you will see railings on both sides, in order to help us stay up. They really help. Ron heads up the maintenance department. Just remember to fill out a work order form at the front desk and he will always get to you to help you with your problems. The nursing staff consists of four outstanding RNs under the guidance of Amy. They are there when we fall in the hall, in the lunchroom or apartment. They also answer questions we may have about our medications. All of the CNAs are great with helping with walkers, wheel chairs and giving our medications. Some of us need assistance with personal grooming, bathing and dressing. There is also Home Health Agency located on the first floor. Nurse Kim and two therapists, one physical and occupational, have helped many residents with their rehab. Jackie heads up the lunchroom staff. The menus show good planning. We have so much to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There re no assigned seats and most of the residents are very courteous. Kelly has her hands full for heading up the activities. Just think: how would you like to try keeping close to ninety (90) residents busy, enjoying the days when it’s raining or snowing outside? She does a wonderful job with her staff. We have snacks for the residents that can be picked up at the front desk. Plus, there is a hospitality cart every Friday that goes to every floor. A beauty shop is located on the first floor and is for both men and women. You can check for time scheduled at the front desk. The trash room has bins for recyclable items and to throw the trash down the shoot. We have laundry rooms on the 2nd through 5th floors. These are a few of the remarkable thing that make us enjoy our stay at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. "

"My mom is in Cantata Adult Life Services. Overall, we are satisfied with them. There were some concerns, but when I told them what we expected, they took it very well. They have assisted living also. We originally went to look at an apartment, but in the interim, she had a stroke, so she is in the skilled care part. She is in rehab because she has all kinds of issues, and they are one of the few places that do that rehab. They are very compassionate. It is a very small facility, which is nice. They have a good staff-to-patient ratio. We've had several meals there. My mom does not like the food, but my sister and I think it is perfectly fine. My mother is used to her own cooking. They have a tremendous rehab staff. They are excellent. "

"I'm at Brookdale Oak Park. My room is nice and comfortable, but it doesn't have a roll-in shower. The food is average. They have two dining areas: a general dining area on the top floor with a nice view of the surrounding community, and a small dining room on the third floor for assisted living folks. The staff is very nice and competent. They have a library, outings, speakers, and games they play with the residents."

"A family friend recommended Belmont Village for my mom. It is a nice facility. Very pretty indeed. The accommodations are fine and nice in general. They have activities for their residents, like exercise class. Food is average and palatable. The staff is basically good but many of them are uncaring. Plus, they're short-staffed. Nothing is on time or it would take very long time to get anything straightened out. However, things are being handled. I would have to give them credit for that. They do try hard to meet their clients' needs. Would I recommend this place? If they don't have great need as far as being cared for, yeah, this facility is fine, but for older people, I don't know. "

"My brother is at the Victory Centre of Galewood. It is geared more to people that can take care of themselves. I found the staff, the CNAs, and everyone to be very conscientious and nice. Occasionally, I am disappointed though because some of the staff in the wellness department call even if they know that I work during the day. So, I'll call them back immediately, but that individual was not available anymore and you don't get a callback. You have to continue to call them or to go over their head, but that's only to some of the representatives in the wellness department, not all of them. They care about their residents and my brother. His health has deteriorated somewhat and they made an exception and got him into rehab. He's had several falls, but they didn't immediately say, "One more fall and you're out." So, they do try to work with him first. Some of them are exceptional and he seems to like the food too. With COVID, I think a lot of stuff has been cut down. They have movies, a gym, and a lot more. They don't have a good parking facility for family members. It's very difficult to park in that area and I believe the garage that they have is meant for some of the residents. The rooms are large enough. There is a small kitchenette, a microwave, and a normal size fridge. The bathroom is extremely wide. It's flexible for a person with a disability, a wheelchair, or walker. They're pretty good. However, I think it's a good neighborhood. The majority of it is residential. There are parks nearby and a community center. Then on the other side, it's more business-like, there are restaurants and the like, so the residents that are more mobile can go out and get food. There is a barbershop around the corner as well. It's a pretty good community. I feel that my brother's safe."

"Sunrise of Bloomingdale was homey and cozy. They have a dog in there. They won't let you keep your pet. It's a community pet. The facility is smaller, which means your loved one can probably get more individualized attention from the staff, who seem to know all the residents. I saw both the assisted living and memory care units. Memory care has its own unit separate from assisted living, and both units have their own dining room. They had a studio with a seating area, a bedroom, and a bathroom; all of which were equipped for safety. They have integrated grab bars and pull cords to notify someone in case an emergency occurs. The staff members were caring, considerate, very supportive, and asked me a lot of questions to see if their facility would meet my father's needs. They were communicative and open."

"The food was very, very good at Belmont Village. The facility is very clean and of nice size. The people were very pleasant. It's a very nice place. The staff were very good and very professional. "

"Victory Centre of Elk Grove is going to be the last place I live. I wanted something that would grow with me because they have assisted living too. That's why I chose them. They are nice. They had a library. They also had activities that you could go to all day. They have nice balconies for the summertime. They also accept pets. It's good upkeep and it's clean."

"My mother has been a resident at Sunrise of Willowbrook for a couple of years, having started in assisted living and then later moving to the 3rd floor memory care unit. Our family has been extremely pleased with her care. The environment is clean and well-maintained, and the residents are kept active with stimulating activities. The rooms are really nice and help my mother to feel independent. The food is great; I have enjoyed having meals there with her which is wonderful option given that it is hard to treavel with my mom now. The admissions staff was so helpful, kind and reassuring during the initial process, even helping my mom find a wonderful doctor locally. I agonized over the decision to place my mom in assisted living, and explored caregiving at home as an option, but we are very glad we decided on Sunrise of Willowbrook. She could never get this level of stimulation and socialization at home. My mother is able to receive her medical and dental care on site, can even get her hair done, which relieves our stress level and burden as a family. We absolutely lover her activity therapist who is incredibly warm and takes a personal interest in the residents. The nursing staff keeps me informed of any issues, which a truly appreciate. I could not recommend Sunrise of Willowbrook more highly."

"A wonderful concept of providing care. Instead of being an institutional environment, it is a comfortable single-family home that has been designed for this purpose. My grandmother loved the fact that she lived in a single family home, with three other residents, while getting all the help that she needed. I would recommend Golden Age to anyone who is looking for a place that offers assisted living. Like they claim...at Golden Age you don't live in a home, you live at home."
