"Victory Centre at Galewood is pretty good. The staff members are good at making my mom feel welcome and giving her information about what activities they have going on. The seniors there are friendly. They have taken her under their wing, and have shown her different things. They escorted her to dinner. They also talked to her at dinner and all that stuff. It's a friendly community. They don't have a full gym for the seniors to exercise in. However, my mom likes bingo and the religious church they have. It's a friendly environment."

"I toured Belmont Village Oak Park. The appearance of the building was great. I only met a couple of staff members, but they were friendly and helpful. I met a few people who lived there and they liked it. The dining room was lovely. They had a lot of in-house activities. It was a beautiful facility."

"My aunt has been in Cantata Adult Life Services for a year now. She's getting very good care, and we're very happy with the staff. They've been very good to her, and it's been a good experience for her so far. The appearance is great. It's always very clean. If the light bulb burns out, they fix it right away. They've been very good about its upkeep. The people are always very nice, and she likes it there. The only complaint in the last six months was they ran out of bacon one day. They've got a doctor there, and they're very good about answering my questions. I would recommend it to anyone."

"I thought Autumn Green at Wright Campus was a very nice facility. I thought it was probably a notch below the one that I also visited. They provided meals, they had activities, and there were games so I liked it."

"Sunrise at Fountain Square is fantastic. I love it. It's very, very nice. My parents love it there, too. They check up on them, they make sure everything's fine and going through this whole COVID situation and everything, they're very proactive. If anybody had COVID, they would start taking tests and everything like that. They keep a nice distance, but they keep a nice watchful eye on them. They have a two-bedroom with a full kitchen and everything, but they don't even use the kitchen that much because they use the meals that are supplied by Sunrise. The dining area is very nice. They have a nice fireplace down there. It's on the first floor and it outlooks to a nice little garden area and the service there is fantastic. The food is very good. There are lots of choices. They do a very good job with maintenance and upkeep. They repainted everything and redid the carpeting before they moved in. Everything is very up-to-date and very clean. You name it, they have it. It's like being on a cruise, but on land. You can participate if you want or you don't have to participate. The activities are all down in the main common area next to the dining room. There are so many things that they can be doing. The staff is very nice. I've only been there a couple of times and it's been very good. The facility is beautiful, nice, and clean. It is a little pricey, but with what they're getting, it's probably right in line with what is expected nowadays."

"Clarendale of Addison was brand new and very nice. It was a little bit further out of our intended area. My wife didn't care for the floor plan of the kitchen area in the apartment that we looked at. They have activities like field trips, they have a hobby shop, and a bunch of other stuff. The staff was very nice and helpful, they answered all our questions, and sat down with us individually."

"The Amazing Grace Senior Living seemed like a nice place to take care of the medical needs that my mother-in-law would need. It's assisted living and there are nurses there 24/7. It's close to home and it's religious. So we could go see her and it will make it convenient for us. It's a little homey and it looks clean. We had pizza, salad, and a fruit cocktail during our tour, and it was all good."

"This review is for the Norwood Crossing assisted living facility (rather than the nursing home). We first noticed the building from the street since we live in the area. We thought it was a private school or condo development, because the front foliage was so lovely. But we were glad to discover that it offered assisted living, since we needed to find a local place for our great-aunt to live. The "memory support garden" in the interior is ample, convenient to the rest of the buildings, but still tranquil. Our aunt used to do a lot of gardening, so she really liked that aspect. The one bedrooms are a nice size, with hardwood floors and carpeting, large enough for a relative's occasional overnight stay. However, the bathrooms in some are off of the bedroom, which could be awkward for guests. The kitchenette opens to the living area, which is nice and bright. The common eating area resembles a casual restaurant with plenty of space between tables. The food we sampled was quite good - at least restaurant quality. The snacks looked really good and are offered all of the time. The piano room has large glass windows with a beautiful view of the center courtyard. Another gathering area resembles a large drawing room with comfortable chairs. There are plenty of staff and trained nurses to provide whatever level of care is required. We were told there is a book club and they make regular library trips, which our aunt really likes since she is an avid reader. They have many exercise programs, live events and other scheduled activities and outings. We could tell by how the residents appeared that they were very well-cared for."

"My brother initially lived independently at Generations at Oakton Arms but starting in January 2023 had to transferred to Assisted Living because of health issues. As I prepared his room for his return from rehabilitation, I thought how comfortable and clean it was. I have found the director and wellness director particularly responsive to my brother's needs and my requests. If there are issues, I have been able to contact the nursing staff. I am particularly grateful to Tatiana, the receptionist, who is always friendly and helpful beyond what one might expect."

"Lexington Square was a wonderful place, but it’s a bit expensive. It had a swimming pool and many activities, and the rooms were bigger. "

"The Sheridan at Park Ridge felt like a swanky hotel. It was very nicely decorated and very pretty. I wasn't 100% happy with the layout. They have all of their common areas on the first level and the residents live on the second, third, and fourth floors. Rather than having little nooks and crannies where people can sit and read a book or chat, the hallways were more like hotel room hallways where there was just row after row after row of doors. So, it wasn't quite as homey. It felt more like a hotel. I was pretty impressed with the staff that I met. They had a hair salon, and I like the fact that The Sheridan has signed on a third party for all the physical therapy. They bring an outside company onsite and they do it right there for the residents, and it seemed a little bit more professional to me. They also can go out on field trips. They have a grand piano in their main lobby and they have entertainers come and perform there."

"What is Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale? It is located at 285 East Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. When you first enter the building, there is a smiling face greeting you, Kristina: “Hi, may I help you?” She will steer you to Sandy, Denise or Gigi to help you. These individuals are very knowledgeable about this location. This five-story building is very clean. When walking the hall, you will see railings on both sides, in order to help us stay up. They really help. Ron heads up the maintenance department. Just remember to fill out a work order form at the front desk and he will always get to you to help you with your problems. The nursing staff consists of four outstanding RNs under the guidance of Amy. They are there when we fall in the hall, in the lunchroom or apartment. They also answer questions we may have about our medications. All of the CNAs are great with helping with walkers, wheel chairs and giving our medications. Some of us need assistance with personal grooming, bathing and dressing. There is also Home Health Agency located on the first floor. Nurse Kim and two therapists, one physical and occupational, have helped many residents with their rehab. Jackie heads up the lunchroom staff. The menus show good planning. We have so much to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There re no assigned seats and most of the residents are very courteous. Kelly has her hands full for heading up the activities. Just think: how would you like to try keeping close to ninety (90) residents busy, enjoying the days when it’s raining or snowing outside? She does a wonderful job with her staff. We have snacks for the residents that can be picked up at the front desk. Plus, there is a hospitality cart every Friday that goes to every floor. A beauty shop is located on the first floor and is for both men and women. You can check for time scheduled at the front desk. The trash room has bins for recyclable items and to throw the trash down the shoot. We have laundry rooms on the 2nd through 5th floors. These are a few of the remarkable thing that make us enjoy our stay at Alden Gardens of Bloomingdale. "

"My brother moved in. Their community is great. Everyone is friendly, from the staff to the residents. The nurses, CNAs, and everyone are just fantastic. He's got a nice room. It's a nice size for him, but I wish it were a little bit bigger (I guess that's just me). I would prefer that it were a little bit bigger and that it had more of a kitchen-type layout. It has a cabinet area and a countertop, and he can put his microwave there, but I wish there was a sink where he can wash some little dishes if he has some. Overall, it's still a nice room. He has been participating in some of their activities. I know he plays bingo, and then they've had movie nights (he goes to that). They have little events sometimes, and they have one coming up soon at the end of this month on the 26th. They are going to have an event where families can come and stuff like that, which is good. I don't think he likes the food. He's picky. He wants to eat what he wants to eat. He is diabetic too, so he doesn't care for the food. He has no choice, though, but I think it's delicious. Not that I've eaten any, but I can tell when the cook/the chef puts it out, it looks good and smells good to me. I know that there are other elderly people there who have to be cared for and can't control themselves. They have to go to the bathroom and stuff like that, and so it feels like every time I'm walking to go down to my brother's hall to go to his room, it reeks of urine. You can just smell it, and I don't know if that's because they haven't cleaned, or maybe when I come, there's nobody there to clean it. During the week, I couldn't smell it, but definitely when I go on Saturday mornings or Sunday, I can smell it as soon as I come in the door."

"It was nice. It was well-kept and clean. I liked that they had activities. Now with COVID you really can't see a lot of people out in the hallways, but it looks like they have a table where they could do puzzles on the floor. The only concern that I had was the elevators. Plus, I didn't see a string that they could pull like if they fall. I was concerned about that. They advised me that they do wellness checks throughout the day. So they'll do it in the morning. They have people that walk around, and then they do a check at breakfast. They do it that way. I just thought that they would have something where if something happened, they could just pull a string and somebody would come. Other than that, they were very courteous to us. Even in the independent living, they have the meals included, so I was very happy about that. I like modern facilities, but this one was old and it seemed dark."
