"I fell in love with Brookstone Estates of Harrisburg. They're friendly and make you feel at home. There's always someone to say hello and smile. The facility was clean and very homey. If I could have afforded it, I would choose this one. Everyone that I talked to said that the food was delicious. The girl who showed me around was very sweet. She explained everything as we talked to her. She let me know that I would be very welcomed. She showed me one of the rooms, and they were divine."

"My mom is at Liberty Village of Marion in Parkway Manor Skilled Nursing. She has been there for six weeks now. They're helping her with physical therapy, bathing, getting dressed, they're cooking their meals, and doing laundry. When it turned cold before I got down there to bring her some warmer clothes, they provided her with a lot of clothes. Residents may have their own cell phones in the room. They have wheelchairs and they have a doctor coming in once a week. They have arts and crafts and bingo activities. A lady comes in and gets their nails done and paints them if they want. All the residents say they like the food there. I was there with my mom for lunch a couple of times, and they had good stuff. She had lasagna, broccoli, and bread roll. Another person didn't want that, and they made her a salad with eggs, ham, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. They looked good. Some older people were eating cheeseburgers and hot dogs. They could choose food; it's not just handed to them. They have a little menu. They have snacks, coffee, and water. When I visited my mom who was sitting with some of the other residents, some of the skilled workers sat at tables and talked with them. "

"I was very pleased with Parkway Estates. It was very clean and spacious. They're very quick to update the carpet if there are any stains whatsoever. They spend a lot of time cleaning it, they have housekeeping once a week. They also do their laundry for them if they want. They have units that you can step into, if she needs additional care later, where they have 24-hour a day nursing care seven days a week, and three meals a day. So, as her condition gets worse, we have the option to have additional care. I have met with Angie several times, and she has been very accommodating and kind; she's a good listener. She addressed all my sister's questions and took all the time that we needed. She's been very supportive. Their dining area was in excellent condition. The rooms were spacious with a walk-in closet, a full kitchen, and there's a door that leads out onto a patio because they can have their own private patio. They regularly do activities. They're taking anyone who wants to go to Rendleman Orchards, and as the peaches come in they'd have peach cobbler and peach ice cream. A lot of the seniors like to do that, so they have regular activities."

"I was very impressed with Fifth Season at Radcliffe Street. The residents appeared very, very happy and very well taken care of. The staff showed me the different types of rooms that were available, so I could compare, and she was very friendly. She showed me the exercise area and the dining area. The whole place was clean, and everything smelled great. It was spacious and easy to navigate through. If I had a walker or if I was using a wheelchair, everything was easily accessible. It just really looked homey, where you could relax."

"I would go with my girlfriend to visit her grandmother at her housing in the assisted living facility. The staff was relatively nice, some more then others. Some of the staff would joke and talk with you, others would act as if you didnt exist. My girlfriends grandmother never had any complaints about the place or any of the staff. The facility seemed to be treating her grandma really good. The only slight complaint she had is that she got bored a lot. We visited her grandmother several times and each time it seemed like a different staff team was working. The place was kept up and clean and didnt smell strange in any way. Her grandmothers room wasnt the biggest, but it had the basics and was easy to get around in. I wouldnt mind having to go back her place anytime. All together, the place was pretty comfortable, nice and most of all, my girlfriends grandmother was happy there. "

"My mom has moved into The Voyage Senior Living Marion North, and she's absolutely thrilled. The staff are awesome and very helpful. The first few days she was there, they came and checked on her every two hours. They're still reminding her every day of what time meals are because she's got dementia and she forgets. They're really great. I've been really pleased with their service. They're really responsive when I call and talk to them. My mom doesn't need memory care yet. She's in a one-bedroom apartment. It has a kitchenette, a nice bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a big window in her living room, and a big window in her bedroom. All their rooms are in a circular fashion, so there's a big courtyard in the middle, so her room looks into the courtyard. The common dining area is great. It's right next to the front entry. Not only do they have a big dining area, but they have a seating area right there with a TV, a fireplace, and the kitchen is right next to it. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Everybody seems to really like each other. The facility is not huge, there's only about 27 residents, but they all seem to enjoy getting together. They have a lot of activities for them. They play bingo and they have crafts once a week. My mom goes up and eats meals with them, but she has not yet participated in activities. She hasn't been there quite long enough. She likes the food. They have a daily special. If they are not happy with the daily special, they have other options. It's kind of served restaurant style. They fill out their menu by the day so they know what they are, and they can pick what they want to eat that day. Actually, they pick for the whole week what they want to eat. They'll take my mom to the store. They have somebody who comes in once a week and does a church service. They have an activities director. They have somebody come in periodically, like once a month or twice a month, and just put on like a mini concert where somebody comes in and sings for the residents. They just do quite a lot for the residents."

"My parents are in Sunshine Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care. They were in another facility, but they were raising their rate. They decided that they needed to find a place within their income. We took them to Sunshine Gardens and they liked it. I like the staff. They treat my mom and dad well. Right now, they're in a temporary apartment and it's nice. They've got a refrigerator and a microwave. The atmosphere is nice and homey. They play bingo and they have a band come in every Friday night and my parents like that. They're close to a Huddle House, a Cracker Barrel, and The Hideout, which is a steak restaurant. There are gas stations nearby. Just right down around the corner are strip malls and stuff like that. The dining area is huge. They share that with the activities and they have a little seating area where they can go and sit and watch people come and go. They've got a big fountain or something in the middle. They have nice padded benches they can sit around and there's a swing in there. I think they have enough to eat. My dad got two helpings of fried shrimp. He was happy about that. Mostly in the summertime, they do movies, they put up a screen and they go outside, like in the courtyard, and they have cookouts and watch movies out there. They keep my parents busy. It wears them out."

"Hurricane Creek is very nice and very comfortable. It is also a fairly new place. The people who work there are wonderful. Besides activities, if a person needs help with bathing or showering, they will help them with that. My relative is still in rehab but we have an apartment reserved for her here. In fact, the administrator goes and visits her in the rehab place. In terms of location, it is close to where my relative is from."

"My aunt moved into the Fifth Season of Benton. The staff was very nice and informative. The room was exceptionally clean and nice. It was the perfect size. There were just the right number of residents there. They take very good care of my aunt when she needs something. They are usually right there. It is just a very friendly and caring staff. They have a salon, a full-time cafeteria, and an outside courtyard."

"Heritage Woods of Benton is wonderful, and I love it. The staff is very friendly and supportive, and the food is excellent. My room here is very good and everything is great. I think it's wonderful here. I have only been in my apartment since I got here, because of the virus, but they have a nice little restaurant where we have lunch."

"The Landings at Reed Station Crossing seemed like they had their act together. I was impressed that it was clean and they seemed to have good personnel and a fair amount of service for the amount of money. They had games set up somewhere and it looked like they had several decent activities. The apartment they showed me was the right size. It wasn't really cramped. It wasn't also a tremendous amount of room, but it was just adequate, enough to be comfortable. It wouldn't be like a studio apartment where you got everything on top of each other. It was like a separate bedroom. The people I met there seemed to know what they were doing. I wasn't there long enough to get a whole lot of evaluation, but it was enough for me to see that they were better than some of the other places I looked at."

"I would recommend Prairie Living at Chautauqua, there isn't another place in Carbondale I would recommend. They have nurses on staff to help with baths, medication, to help get them to dining area, and coordinate things. It was an excellent experience from the point of view of the care my parents received there. My parents weren't there very long, but the staff there were very helpful, very kind, they were very responsive to my parents' needs. The other people I've visited there have been very pleased with the care their loved ones are receiving. They also have decent food and they're responsive to people's diets. So if you're on a sodium restriction diet or if you're a vegetarian, there is lots of good food to eat, which isn't true for other communities. They're not taking anybody right now and that's the problem. They have a little gym for people who want to work out a little bit, they have arts and crafts areas, and a library. They have all the standard things. The food is good, I could eat it, and let's just say it doesn't come out of a big can, though they're not gourmet. They have a nutritionist on staff. They have nice apartments, people are on their own, but there are people around and things to do. They'd have musical groups come in and entertain, they'd have movies, they would take people to the doctors' office. They do a lot and you get a big bang for your buck there. They also have requirements there about how many people have to have public aide or Medicare, so it's not all private pay. If you don't have any money they're gonna help you. The activities were fine, they're appropriate for the people that are there. There's always something to do, they're not sitting around, people are doing things. They have low staff turnover and they treat people there. There's no problem at this place, they're clean, and well-managed."

"I have been a resident at Big Muddy Assisted Living (River to River) in Murphysboro for almost two years now and have found aa place I can truly call home. When I first came here, I thought I would never be happy again and feel at home but have found comfort and understanding here that is hard to describe. The last two years have not been easy. I've lost family and many friends but have always felt accepted and cared for here by the staff (Jane, Tina, Christa and all the girls who assist us every day.. Before coming here, I had lived at my home in Vergennes for 56 years and did not know any other way to live. I would highly recommend Big Muddy to anyone who desires a place to live where they can find friends and enjoy having and feeling secure, taken care of, and supported. We enjoy a variety of fun and interesting events or can simply enjoy the quiet of our apartments. I also love the fact that we can have our pets as companions as long as we are able to care for them. For me, they, my pets are a big comfort because I don't have any family left. To the staff, I say Thank You with all my heart. Dianne Preston "

"My dad has been at Villas of Holly Brook. It is a beautiful place, it's quiet, they have good food, everyone is cheerful. They care about their residents and take very good care of them. His apartment is spacious and clean. Each resident wears a buzzer and they have a system where they know where each resident is at all times; it's connected to that buzzer. If they are anywhere in the building and they press their buzzer, they can track them. That is very cool. For activities, I think they have bingo and a pool table. They also have several gathering places where the residents sit and talk, just like at home. They have church services. They also have planned activities pretty much on a weekly, and maybe even a daily, basis. They require a 24-hour notice for visitations and only two people at a time. You must wear a mask, they will screen you when you come in, like take your temperature and ask some questions about exposure. I think that's still going on. It is expensive but it is also a good place."

"My aunt and uncle lived in Autumn Ridge Supported Living for several years. It was a very nice place that was brand new when they moved in. They served all their meals right there. They had some residents on Medicaid. They did a few day trips, shopping trips, game nights in their dining hall, groups visiting from various churches in the area, singing and preaching. The carpeting in the halls was nice. It was nicely painted, very upbeat, and very bright. The decor was bright. Most of the units were one-bedrooms, but they also had a two-bedroom unit. They had the schedule of events and meals for the month posted on the bulletin board. My aunt and uncle stayed in their apartment to eat and they kind of discouraged that. They wanted the people out socializing in the dining room, which impressed me. The staff was very caring. The food was kind of bland, which it had to be for their diet. Activities were age appropriate, and they had pretty good participation."

"My aunt likes it very much. She's been there for over a year now. When she was home alone, she was in and out of hospital quite frequently. Now, she hasn't since she's been in the facility, so that has helped with that situation because she was living alone. "
