I am at the Voyage Senior Living of Herrin. I am receiving medicine maintenance and baths. It's being locked down because of Covid, and it's almost a year this coming March. We don't have enough to do here, so I'd like more things to do. It is an older building, and they have not kept it up that good. We have a beauty shop, we have coloring, bingo, and sometimes entertainment, but it's not as much as we used to have. We have transportation, but not as much as we used to have. Instead of us going into the shop and getting our stuff ourselves, we have to order it now and they will pick it up for us. We are not allowed to go out. The staff is real friendly, and they care. If the staff is not good here, they won't last long.

Hurricane Creek was a nice facility, but older, so it could use a little updating. The rooms were not laid out as nice as the other facilities I visited; not all rooms had lots of natural light coming in and not all had a window. The people seemed nice, and the staff went through exactly how much it would cost and what the different prices were for the low income. The dining room was nice, and they were playing bingo when we were there.

Hurricane Creek is very nice and very comfortable. It is also a fairly new place. The people who work there are wonderful. Besides activities, if a person needs help with bathing or showering, they will help them with that. My relative is still in rehab but we have an apartment reserved for her here. In fact, the administrator goes and visits her in the rehab place. In terms of location, it is close to where my relative is from.

My mother is a new resident. Moving mom into an assisted living environment was extremely difficult. What became more difficult was not understanding the system. The staff at River to River, and more specifically Hurricane Creek were extremely professional and very helpful at not only the navigation but almost as if extending our family. On behalf of our family thank you for your help, kind words, information and providing my mother with the assistance she needs. Moira and Francine

We have visited Hurricane Creek. The apartments were nice-sized. They had 24-hour staff there. They were very informative. They provided 3 meals a day, plus a bus to take them to different functions and shopping on certain days. They showed movies. They have people come in and sing. They have church services there for them. It was all inclusive.

One of the reason why I left Hurricane Creek was the terrible food. I like the place, but it’s not just well managed at ALL. There’s a lot of favoritism in it and they don’t correct problems. It’s just a rotten administration. I was there for about a year, and it’s a non-profit facility. They have some activities, like bingo, but they always use the people who are living there to provide them.

I personally enjoy visiting the assisted living facility. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the atmosphere seems very happy, and clean. My grandmother is a resident, and she really likes being there. She always speaks well of River to River. She has told me many times about how wonderful and friendly the staff is, and how they are always there to help her when she needs it. I have never seen one of the employees in a bad mood. They always seem quite cheerful, and ready to take on any situation. The facility has a very spacious cafeteria, a game room, an area to get the resident's hair done, and much more. I was worried at first when my grandmother needed to go into assisted living. I've heard a lot of bad things about nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. However, I was really impressed with how well she is being treated at River to River. I am so very happy that it is working out for her, and more importantly, that she enjoys it too.
