"My mother is in Garden Place Senior Living - Millstadt Community. It's in a neighborhood rather than in a business park. It's only one level and only has 36 clients. It smells good. The staff seems to be very good and it has good food. They have regular meals and they often have ice cream socials. They have activities like Bingo, chair yoga, and mindfulness. They have celebrations for the holidays and they have a system where they give the person a dollar every time that they show up to one of thes activities. They can spend their dollars in a store there where they can buy cookies, toiletries, or different things. It's a good incentive. It seems to work for my mother to get her to attend things. They seem to be responsive to my mother's needs. They keep us informed of what's going on with her. They tend to feed the residents a lot of sandwiches and soup, but that's what they seem to like. The staff is well-trained, they're good at their jobs, and they care about the clients that they have. It's well worth the price. She's independent, and she's still able to do most everything for herself."

"It is new and it's very beautiful. The staff was very welcoming. The rooms were really big for memory care. They work with you and they reach out every week. You can tell the same kind of warmth and welcoming. I tried the food three times during the open house. With my father passing away, they even sent a meal for the family for the repast."

"I looked at Charter Senior Living of St. Louis Hills. They were very informative, answering questions clearly and concisely. They gave a tour of the place. The residents were very helpful as well asking if we were interested in moving in. It was a very good tour and the residents seemed to be very pleased to be there. They offered three meals a day. They had transportation for doctors visits. They also had outings at least once a week to different places. They had activities at least once a week inside the facility. They had various activities to get people involved with each other, so it was very good. They have both studios and one-bedroom. Their one-bedroom is essentially two studios combined. They do not have a kitchenette. They have a refrigerator and a microwave in the studio. They have a separate bathroom like you can walk into the shower. It is a memory care facility, so they check in on the residents every day. If you're not able to make a meal because you're out on an appointment, they seem to be willing to let you catch your meal when you get back. The staff who gave me the tour was very good. She's very knowledgeable. She introduced us to the director of the facility as well."

"My mom was at Garden Place Columbia for a couple of months. I liked it because it was bright and cheery. They had a lot of activity. My mom was in assisted living, and she did fall, but they did notify me right away. So there's nothing that I feel bad about there. I think that they did a good job. The facility was very clean. I would sit with my mom, and the food looked good. The food was cooked nicely. My mom enjoyed it. She said she liked it. Her apartment was nice. It was a small apartment. It was clean and neat. We had to furnish it ourselves, but that's okay."

"My mother will do respite care here for the fourth time. I pretty much liked everything about it. The atmosphere as soon as I walked in the door, I just knew it felt homey. I liked the activities that they did and the interaction. She went on the tour with me and they made her feel welcome. I fell in love with the staff. While I was touring, she sat with some of the other residents and she was comfortable there. She ate all her food there. The place was very clean and it smelled clean. It was just like walking in The Hilton."

"Brentmoor Retirement Community was even more so for old people, but it was very well-run and well-managed. The person who showed me around was very nice, polite, and enthusiastic. His eagerness was just a little bit over the top, but he was still very good. The rooms themselves were nicer than the other place we looked at. It's also a higher quality place. It just looked a little bit more updated and well-kept."

"I liked quite a few things the best about Sunrise of Webster Groves. It seemed to have very adequate staffing, friendly staffing, and caring staffing. The residents all seemed happy. I talked to several of them when they invited me in to see their apartment. The place looked happy. It was light. It was open and they had large corridors. They had a lot of seating areas. I just really liked it. When we toured, different residents would come up to whatever staff member was with me needing assistance, and they would very quickly either help them or get someone to help them. They were also very knowledgeable and had a very good attitude. They were very positive. They had a chapel, different prayer services at different times, an art room, and a little gym."

"My wife doesn't see very well and The Mary Culver Home is designed only for visually impaired women, and they've been in business for 150 years, so I like it. It's a small home. It only got 27 private rooms, so she gets a lot of one-on-one attention and they're very good. They are very attentive towards her and I would highly recommend anybody if their spouse is visually impaired, because that's the one requirement to get in. I like the fact that the patient to staff ratio was like 7 to 1 and the food's good. My wife seems to enjoy the food and they do activities with them all the time. So, they try to get them involved in various activities and I'm pleased. The rooms are small, but they're all private, and they have a private bathroom in them. It's plenty and big enough to get around. I think the home was built in 1966, I believe, so it is an older home, but it's well-maintained. They have a dining area and they kind of wait on them like it's a restaurant. They'll come up there and take their order, and whatever they want, they'll cook it for them. They have exercise classes. They do tours of different countries and stuff like that. They listen to those kinds of tapes and then discuss them. The other day when I was there, they were doing Martin Luther King's history and life. So, they do something like that all the time for them."

"The room layout at Autumn View Gardens was excellent. The rooms were much better and larger. We would have picked their layout, but we just didn't like the environment. It didn't seem as quiet. It was noisier. The facilities weren't as cheery and as fresh as the others we looked at. It was an older facility, but the room we looked at had a walk-around balcony, which was very nice. The other two facilities did not have that. You could sit outside on your own private balcony. There was a garden area, too, and the staff seemed nice."

"Caretakers & administration are great! They take care of the residents who need a little extra TLC. Everyone knows the residents name. Love the family style & events the have. Administrators keep families up to date on their residence care. Offer great ideas, events and trips. We are really happy with this facility!"

"I have lived at FVSH for over three years and been very satisfied with my choice. I came here because my husband was in the early stages of dementia, and we moved to a two bedroom independent living apartment which we both found to be very comfortable and roomy. The food was excellent and the activities abundant. After two years, it became necessary for him to move to a full care unit where I could easily see him every day, share meals with him and still live in our apartment. It was a good choice for both of us. He received excellent care, and I did not have to drive miles to visit him. After over a year, my husband died. I received support from the FV staff and chaplain's department as I went through all the decisions and emotions associated with such a devastating loss. I am now continuing here, supported by friends both new and old, as I go forward on my life's journey. Friendship Village has made these transitions possible in a seamless and caring manner. "

"Brookdale Creve Coeur offers the finest independent living and also assisted living. My mother was in Independent living and she described it like living at a resort. She felt very well taken care of. She made friends easily and quickly and enjoyed the camaraderie that they all shared. They have plenty of activities so they have something to appeal to all. From activities taking place inside the building to wonderful and varied field trips to great locations around the St. Louis area. The Saturday evening entertainment is always a fun and uplifting experience with a variety of music to entertain the residents. The food is amazing! There are lots of choices for dinner; there is always something offered that is appealing. The brunch buffets are varied and full of wonderful and different options. The apartments are very adequate with nice floorplans. The staff is also highly caring and effective and work hard to care for all residents. I highly recommend Brookdale of Creve Coeur."
