"My mother-in-law is moving here. They provide meals and she needed that. I thought she needed someone else to be there and help her in and out of the shower but she can actually bathe herself because their shower is a regular handicap shower so she probably won't have any trouble with it. As soon as we walked in the door, it's a beautiful place. It's roomy and airy. They took us on a tour and we saw the room that was available. It's been redone, it's beautiful, big and airy. It has big bay windows in it that made it really nice and homey. It also made it airy, you won't feel like you're closed in. We continued on and the facility was made into a big square so you can't really get lost, you just continue walking and you'll get to your room. Everything about it made me feel like I want to move in. It's a really, really nice facility. We're really happy and just overly impressed with everything. The activities and amenities were presented to us, they had them on a paper and we looked at the activities that they had and things going on. They told us that if she would want to go to Walmart or somewhere else, they had somebody with a van that takes whoever wants to go. They go places or take them to doctor appointments, it's all available for them. They're making their people feel like they're home away from home, for sure. They're not going to feel like they're closed in. It's definitely not like a nursing home and it's very, very nice."

"It was the place I was trying to get my husband into. It was 5 minutes from my house, and I tried to get him there, but he was too sick for them. It's a beautiful place. We went and toured their memory care and it was very nice and very neat. It was a beautiful place on the inside and outside. The room was lovely and very, very nice. I only saw one and it had a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. The staff who assisted us was also very nice."

"My parents are in St. Andrews. I like it because it’s really homey, small, and the people are very caring. They provide activities and have outside courtyards where you can go and be safe. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I’ve eaten there a couple of times, and the food was good. They appear to care for the people and are generally concerned about my parents. "

"My mom has been in Memory Care at Kingsland Walk for over three years. The facility is well maintained and clean. We are thrilled with the Executive Director, who is organized. professional and easy talk with. She is good with employees and always smiling. The staff is wonderful ..from Maintenance to Housekeeping, Medicine and Caregiving. We adore the MC Director, Tanika, and all the Care, devotion and long hours she puts in caring for my mom and all the residents. She and her staff are the best we have had in all our tenure here and we feel extremely blessed that mom is safe, clean and cared for in every way. These wonderful people are like family to us."

"My father already moved to The Glenwood Supportive Living of Staunton. I don't have any negatives right now. I like the location. The people seem like they genuinely care, and it felt clean and new. I visited six different assisted living places and it was definitely my favorite. The administrator, Stephanie, hands down is my favorite person. She seems like she genuinely cares. She's very concerned about the patient's well-being. I'm a big fan of the administrators. I've got no problems. My dad likes the food. He hasn't complained, but I haven't tried it. I think everything looks current and very clean. It didn't feel like an assisted living facility. It felt more like apartments, so I liked it. Compared to other prices that I looked around, it was the best price. He's in a studio and it still has a separate bedroom. I am pleased with the layout."

"My mother used to live in the Brentmoor Retirement Community. They don't have memory care, but they have assisted living which is on the second floor, and then they have independent living. She moved out a year ago in September. She loved Brentmoor. They had a really beautiful restaurant, the food was great, and her place was gorgeous. She had a 2-bedroom apartment, and it's got beautiful views. The staff was wonderful, and it was a very, very nice place. She had a nice group of friends, and she really enjoyed it. She had a full kitchen, a living room, a dining room, 2-bedrooms, and 2-bathrooms. They have a 1-bedroom and they have studios, but she wanted an extra bedroom in case somebody came to visit 'cause all my siblings, we all live in different States. Usually once a month they would go to a restaurant or they'd take a drive somewhere like Marquette which is a couple hours away. They took outings downtown, they had all sorts of people coming showing all sorts of stuff, cooking, speakers, they had political speakers and historical people come. It was a very stimulating place, and it was a very good fit for her. They had an occupational therapist within the building. They had really good food 'cause I would go over there and eat with my mom a lot. The staff was wonderful. They had this little tag, like a "Do Not Disturb" tag, and when they were up in the morning, they would just put it out and say "I'm OK." So, someone would go around every day checking, and when it wasn't on the door, they would check to make sure they were all right, so that was kind of nice. They had exercise. They were kind of pricey for independent living. I think the last time, her payments were $3700 to $3800 a month, and I'm sure it has probably gone up."

"I toured Autumn View Gardens - St. Louis. The tour was very good. All of the staff was excellent. The accommodations were very good. The price was good. It's a studio. It had a little mini kitchen and a bathroom, and I was impressed that the majority of them had an outside balcony. It was enclosed where they could sit out, so we were very impressed. They showed us the cafeteria area. They were there, and they'd been doing laundry, so we saw the process of putting your basket out and getting your basket back in with your clothes. They had a whole list of activities, which we were thrilled with, because, right now, my mom is sedentary. So, they had this big list of activities and everything that they offered. They had a calendar posted throughout the hallways. They had an exercise room, a courtyard, and a big space for families to gather if they wanted to come. They had a big seating area with couches and stuff for the family."

"Charter Senior Living of Troy was very clean and pretty quiet. The residents that we saw there were involved in activities and stuff. They looked like they were having a pretty good time. We got to talk to one of the residents that we actually knew, and she's been there for ten years and she really enjoys it. The staff was very knowledgeable, very accommodating, and forthcoming with any questions that we had. The building was very lovely. It was pretty modern, up-to-date, and very clean. The one room that we saw was pretty average in size for a one-bedroom, but it was nice."

"My mom is a resident of Lake St Charles Retirement Community. It's wonderful. They recently remodeled the inside, and they are always upgrading the apartment. If someone moves out they upgrade before anybody else moves in, and the staff was very kind. My mom's room is very comfortable. She enjoys it, and we can personalize it. It's very well done inside and out. She has been able to participate in the activities throughout the years, but right now she cannot. They have a variety of activities on campus and off campus. They take a bus to the casinos about once a month. They give them opportunities to go to various shopping centers or the grocery store. They have Bible studies, music entertainment, and worship services."

"My mother will do respite care here for the fourth time. I pretty much liked everything about it. The atmosphere as soon as I walked in the door, I just knew it felt homey. I liked the activities that they did and the interaction. She went on the tour with me and they made her feel welcome. I fell in love with the staff. While I was touring, she sat with some of the other residents and she was comfortable there. She ate all her food there. The place was very clean and it smelled clean. It was just like walking in The Hilton."

"I visited St. Louis Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care. We're pending their assessment of our mom's condition. If that goes well, we will be going there. We chose it because of the fact that they are more engaged with the people there, giving extra care to activities. The rooms were nice, and just the overall staff. At the first level, there's a nice reception area and dining area. They have a movie theater and a community room if families want to come and be with their loved ones. They have an exercise room. They have a beauty parlor, and they have events where they go out."

"I toured Clarendale of St. Peters. It's a very lovely building. They had a little courtyard. It was a very lovely place to be. They have a lot of things for the residents to do, physical therapy, and different things, but it's mostly the cost that turned me down on that one. The staff was good, kind, and gave me plenty of information."

"I toured Harvester Residential Care. I appreciated the warm welcome that I received. Everyone that I spoke with was very kind, friendly, and helpful. They answered my questions. I was glad to be able to see the assisted living center, as well as the group housing options. My questions were answered, and I received literature and a card to take home if we wanted additional information or assistance. The menu was posted. It was very helpful, also. They have outdoor spaces near the driveway, near the front entrance. I saw comfortable chairs, and the grounds were very well-maintained."

"I toured Sunrise of Webster Groves. It seemed like a very nice community. It was a very nice building. Everyone was very personal and likable. It might be something we would look at in the future, but I think we're pretty comfortable where we're at for the moment. The staff member who gave the tour was great. They said I could try their food, but I did not. They also had porches if they needed some kind of outdoor space."

"My father stayed a few weeks on the acute rehab side and then moved over to the skilled nursing care side for a few more weeks till he got strong enough to come home. First of all, the place is beautiful- both the rooms and overall facility. It is kept very nice and has a cheery atmosphere. It even has its own bakery that is open daily to get a sweet treat. The staff is attentive and patient and hard working on behalf of their patients. They responded to my calls and treated my father with extra special care. We were extremely nervous about having my father in a nursing home...and we got so LUCKY when we found Brooking Park. It was more like a home which was a grateful surprise! I/we highly recommend this facility!"

"My wife doesn't see very well and The Mary Culver Home is designed only for visually impaired women, and they've been in business for 150 years, so I like it. It's a small home. It only got 27 private rooms, so she gets a lot of one-on-one attention and they're very good. They are very attentive towards her and I would highly recommend anybody if their spouse is visually impaired, because that's the one requirement to get in. I like the fact that the patient to staff ratio was like 7 to 1 and the food's good. My wife seems to enjoy the food and they do activities with them all the time. So, they try to get them involved in various activities and I'm pleased. The rooms are small, but they're all private, and they have a private bathroom in them. It's plenty and big enough to get around. I think the home was built in 1966, I believe, so it is an older home, but it's well-maintained. They have a dining area and they kind of wait on them like it's a restaurant. They'll come up there and take their order, and whatever they want, they'll cook it for them. They have exercise classes. They do tours of different countries and stuff like that. They listen to those kinds of tapes and then discuss them. The other day when I was there, they were doing Martin Luther King's history and life. So, they do something like that all the time for them."
