Brooking Park was a nice facility. It was clean and up to date. The staff was nice, but not particularly helpful because when I went to pick my sister up (they knew what day I was going to pick her up), they didn't have any of the paperwork ready for her release. I called ahead and told them and asked, "What time can I pick her up?" They said anytime. So, I told them I would be there in an hour to an hour and a half, but even with all of this, they still did not have the paperwork ready. So, I was waiting and I said, "I'm going to go eat lunch and come back." Still, they didn't have the paperwork ready. Finally, I just took her and brought her home. My sister's room was OK. It wasn't anything fancy. She had a TV and a comfortable chair. The bed was kind of an old hospital bed, but she had a dresser and a nightstand. That was pretty much it. The menu looked really good and my sister didn't complain about the food. She said she liked it.

Mom is in the memory care wing at Brooking Park. It's a very pretty place, but the good stops there. It is dehumanizing. They leave my mother in her room to rot. They make the rounds and if this person hasn't been changed in a few hours, then they'll go ahead and go in and change them. They don't even bother to get her up and go to the toilet. The food is served on a Styrofoam plate just slopped on there. There are choices and I'm supposed to fill out menus every week for every meal and I doubt that they follow it. The care and the staff are laughable. If you ask ten people that work there, where something is, where somebody is, just ask any question at all, "I don't know. I don't work here. I'm agency." They don't have employees. They hire out from agencies. There is no investment in these residents at all. There's no engagement. There's no hope. I only tried some soup and grilled cheese, which could have come from a can, but the breakfast looked very good. She has been there since August 18th and there's no contract. My daughter moved her in and has no authority legally and they have never, never come to me with a contract, despite probably 15 inquiries. There are people parked in front of TVs and that's it. For memory care, they're charging over $9000 for six weeks. There's never anybody in the halls. This lady was falling out of her wheelchair parked in front of the TV and I went over the nurse's station and I said, "Can somebody help her? She's about to fall out." This one from the agency is on her phone and looks up at me and says, "Yeah, in a minute" and goes back to her phone.

My mother was in the Skilled Nursing section of Brooking Park and while she liked the food, that was the only positive part of her experience while living there. As her daughter and advocate, I have not encountered such unfriendly and uncaring staff with the exception of one nurse and one tech. The lack of response when my mom would press her call button to receive help to get to the bathroom was totally unacceptable. On two occasions when I visited her I found her sitting on the toilet after she was told "I'll be right back" by a staff member. The facility did not wreak of urine however I did kill 2 roaches in my mom's room and had to place Terro ant traps in her room due to the ant infestation. I assume that was due to the crumbs and food spills that were not cleaned up. I placed a call to the Executive Director on Christmas day when I found my mom teetering on the side of her bed with a cold tray of food in front of her intended for the resident across the hall and was appalled to find my mom sitting in feces and urine. This was at 11:30am so you can imagine how long she sat like that since breakfast was served hours before. She sat there like that so long that her entire shirt was also soaked with urine. I never received a call back from the Executive Director however he did make it a point to pay me a visit 3 days later when I was visiting my mom with his staff in tow to take issue with me regarding a conversation I had in the lobby with the loved ones of a prospective resident asking me if I had told prospective clients that I would not recommend this place. Yes, I told him I did say that and he asked why I didn't give them a chance to rectify the situation. Well, I never received a call back from anyone regarding this situation and I took it upon myself to let prospective clients know about our poor experiences so they would be diligent in selecting an alternative. If I recall, this is a country in which we enjoy freedom of speech, is it not. Poor communication, staff with poor attitudes, lack of supervision by the gal over the nursing staff, techs and aids, however good food sums up our experience.

Very disappointing; while some of the staff were helpful & caring, the administration and managers were not and preferred to avoid rather than provide help and answers for the patient. Administration & majority of management were only interested from a financial perspective rather than helping the patient

My mom was there for the rehab center. The rooms are very nice. But it is downhill after that. We were told when the button is pushed, the tech has 10 minutes to come. Then it goes to the nurse. After 10 more minutes it goes to the Director. That is a lie. If so, the Director would never sleep at night or get any work done during the day. Patients wait well over 30 minutes to just go to the bathroom. This happens all the time. Another time she was left sitting on the toilet for over 30 minutes and had to get herself to a chair to wait. She had hip replacement less than 4 days ago. They had a pregnant nurse working at night. Ridiculous. Mom needed to go to the bathroom. She was only 4 days after surgury and needed assistant to get out of bed. The nurse told her she was pregnant and couldn't help her physical. WHAT! Why is she working in teh rehab center where the patients there need some kind of physical assistance. Awful! She sould be working in memory care, not physical rehab area. A doctor came in to look at her arm that had blisters on it. He told her that he would take care of it. That night she asked what the doctor prescribed for the blisters. Nothing. He didn't nothing. Don't tell me you are doing to take care of it and then do nothing. We are required to wear mask except when in the room. We talked to a nurse that said there is a stomach bug going around. Okay. There was a tech that wasn't wearing a mask going from patient room to patient room. I brought that to the case workers attention. The next night he had a mask on under his chin. The following night, no mask again. I guess there are no rules that workers have to follow and they do whatever they want. But visitors have rules to follow. One night early in her stay, a tech came in at 9 pm to tell mom it was time for her bath/shower. She had hip replacement surgery 5 days ago and couldn't get her incision wet. She didn't know that. Another time, mom asked what the medicine was that they brought her. The nurse told her but wasn't sure about one. Mom said that she wasn't going to take that one. The nurse told her that she didn't care if she took it or not. There have been a number of days that meals didn't come and we had to go ask why. This happened a number of times. I feel sorry for the patients that are there with no one coming to visit them. They are at the workers will. Finally, I brought her Great Calls for her to wear. I was afraid she might fall trying to get to the bathroom and tired of waiting and would lay there for hours waiting for help. At least, she could press her Great Calls button and get help. I brought this all to the attention of the case worker and never heard another word. Never saw or heard from the Director or Head of Nursing.

My mother was at Brooking Park and was not given the care she needed. They messed up on her medications. They wouldn’t come and take her to the restroom when she needed help. There was a day she didn’t receive breakfast or lunch. I even asked if someone could give her a shower or bath Siri g her stay and that never happened. I finally made the decision to take my mother out of there. We were to a point we felt she wasn’t safe staying there anymore.

My brother went into Brooking Park for rehab. It's clean and well laid out. It's just that they don't answer calls on a timely basis. They don't answer within 15-20 minutes, and sometimes it takes an hour or more. His room is very nice. He's in a single person room. Because of the pandemic, everybody has to stay in their own room. They do rehab with him and that's his activity. They used to have puzzles and people come in for entertainment and social hours, but they can't do that anymore. He has to eat in his room. Everybody eats in their own room. I don't know if there's not enough staff or what, but the main complaint is they don't answer calls in a timely manner. The staff that I've worked with are very nice. I can't go in and see him or anything. All I do is see him through the window and talk to him on the phone. They're expensive. They should have a better response time. With the pandemic, it's hard because they can't go to activities and I can't go in and see him. The food used to be excellent when they could go to the dining hall and eat, but now they can't. My brother said the food is cold, but they have to serve all those people and take it to their room.

Beautiful facility, good food. Some staff on the skilled nursing side have hearts of gold but they cannot balance the systemic disrespect ad rough handling of fragile, vulnerable patients. There is a toxic mixture of de-humanization and incompetence. I had assumed that if I was present and pleasant, I could prevent mistreatment, but I realized that I was wrong and moved her to a nearby facility which is 100% better.

My father has recently passed away. He was in the skilled nursing at Brooking Park before being rushed to the hospital where he died two days later. When he was brought to the hospital the doctors found out that he had pneumonia and a respiratory virus. He was not responding to treatments any more. I get horrified just thinking about this place and the way he was treated there. The stuff, with a very few exceptions, is simply incompetent. And that is not the worst part. The nurses, the CNAs lack the compassion and skills. For example, my dad was left in the bathroom for more than two hours and he could not get anyone to come back and help him clean up and dress. He was really freezing in there. We had multiple meetings with the management, and things would improve for a day, and then they will go back to the same. The CNAs spend hours sitting around and browsing their phones. They do not care. The place is a disgrace. And I wish that people who "work" there one day will get to experience the level of "care" that was afforded to my late father.

My father stayed a few weeks on the acute rehab side and then moved over to the skilled nursing care side for a few more weeks till he got strong enough to come home. First of all, the place is beautiful- both the rooms and overall facility. It is kept very nice and has a cheery atmosphere. It even has its own bakery that is open daily to get a sweet treat. The staff is attentive and patient and hard working on behalf of their patients. They responded to my calls and treated my father with extra special care. We were extremely nervous about having my father in a nursing home...and we got so LUCKY when we found Brooking Park. It was more like a home which was a grateful surprise! I/we highly recommend this facility!

The meals were consistently very good with very attentive service and pretty goof selections. Adequately staffed in what must be a difficult labor market and all very friendly. Weekly events all day long it seemed. Library visits, movies, entertainment... Never saw the old place but the renovations are beautiful. Theater is awesome!

My friend was in the rehab unit at Brooking Park. Some of the care was really good, but he had several instances that were not good. The appearance was beautiful, and they were in the process of redecorating, so they were painting and it really looked nice. The rooms were nice, and the room my friend had was a private bathroom that was well-done. I have no complaint about the appearance of the facility. Some of the techs, not the nurses, were not on the ball. One night, my friend called for a tech because he needed help to the bathroom, but the tech didnt come. We subsequently found out that that tech, who was supposed to be taking care of my friend, fell asleep, and didn't answer my friend's call. A second time, someone came and helped him to the bathroom, but unfortunately, after they shut the door to the bathroom, there was a wheelchair blocking the door, so when my friend wanted to get out, he couldn't, so he called and was getting panicky, and finally somebody came and moved the wheelchair and helped him get back out of the bathroom. The third instance was that my friend had not had a shower or bath during his entire first week. They were supposed to give him a bath or a shower every Wednesday and Saturday, but nobody did it, so one of the bandages on my friend's arm stuck to a wound, and when they took it off, he had a big, raw, open wound. After several days of that he wasn't doing well physically so they sent him back to the emergency at the hospital and he spent the rest of his time there. We were not happy about that. The food was great and my friend liked the food a lot; the dining area was nice. They took him to a Catholic mass. The nurses and occupational therapists were excellent. It was the technicians who were not doing their job.

I have a loved one who recently had a long stay at Brooking Park facility and just want to say the place is very poor with the quality of care. The facility is grossly understaffed, so getting help when needed never arrives or takes a very long time to arrive. The workers don’t care about their job it seems like, especially the night staff from what I have been told. I am sure they are underpaid and underprivileged so there is no motivation to care. At one time I was told by that a patient care staff member came into the room with a blanket wrapped around them like they were taking a nap and seemed upset they were disturbed. Some of the staff members are rude and do not want to help the patients. It is also unsanitary, I found used gloves not disposed correctly in the waste can, the used gloves were just left on a dresser or side table. I am sure if the staff had a loved one in this place they would have a different outlook on the matter and actually care about the conditions and poor help that is provided. I am letting you know all this because I am sure it boils down to money. Brooking Park is in need of a serious overhaul both with the amount of staff and the conditions of the facility. I certainly would not recommend anyone to stay at Brooking Park.

Our family had never heard of Brooking Park until we needed an unplanned skilled level of care for a relative. They had an opening when we needed one and I found out that they were caring, met my aunt's needs, kept me posted and were very responsive until her last day. I would recommend Brooking Park and their team.

My husband is in Brooking Park. It is very clean. It is up-to-date. It is almost posh. The people are reasonably polite, and the residents are, overall, basically happy, and content. My husband is estatic about the food. He loves it. They have movies. They have a happy-hour every Friday where they come to the rooms to distribute fruit juice, and fruits. They have bingo, and card games.

I cannot express the love and care my mom and dad got from everyone at Brooking Park. The nursing staff knew their needs and took care of them always at the right time. The food has a diverse blend of all group needs, and spiced right. We had many friends for lunch or dinner, and everyone was very pleased. The entertainment was wonderful, the outings were always fun. They kept everyone very busy if they wanted to join in. I was very lucky that my parents were cared for to this high level before they passed. Please for all of you reading this, just go and see what I experienced to get the best care for your loved one.

Mom was in Brooking Park. At first they were doing great and were assisting her. Then they just kind of dropped the ball. They stopped helping her, like getting her down making sure she got the food. She wasn't eating. They wanted to move her to memory care -- which we ended up doing -- but I didn't like the way they did it. I knew she was missing several meals. She was right by the cafeteria. Couldn't they just knock on the door and let her know it's time to eat? She doesn't know what time it is. They used to do that, then they stopped doing it. I don't really understand. Their communication isn't really good, so I wasn't thrilled. I just didn't feel like she was getting the care that she needed, and it may just be because she was in the wrong unit. She should have been in memory care. They promised stuff, they were doing it at first, and then they stopped which is disappointing. Another issue that I had with them that scared me was I found pills underneath her chair when I moved her chair and lifted up stuff. They weren't making sure that she was taking her medicine. She dropped it, and then she couldn't find the pill. I actually saw it happen, so I know that for a fact. They bring it to her, and then they walk out. Every time I went in, I found pills underneath her chair. I did address that with them, and they said that couldn't happen and that they wouldn't allow that. Well, it did happen. So I'm hoping that they cured that problem, but I don't know how long she went without taking pills. She seemed to have missed a lot of them. They did have some good qualities. I just felt like at the time, they really dropped the ball.

My husband is in the memory care unit of Brooking Park and it's near my house. They have single rooms, a room with a living room on the side, and also two people in a room with one bathroom. There are a lot of things going on. They have three or four people taking care of them. They have a slew of activities during the week. They have a lady that comes to sing and they all liked that. They also have grounds the residents can walk around. They have a dining room on the first floor and it's set up like in a hotel. My husband is a picky eater but he eats everything there.

This facility is the home to a great-aunt of mine. I always enjoy visiting her in this home. There are consistently activities and festivities happening. She has normal services available to her including postal, beauty, light shopping, and a full service gym. As an active senior, she enjoys the freedom but also fellowship that this particular center offers her. The only negative I've heard her mention is the high rollover of nursing staff. On visits, the facility appears clean and welcoming.
