"Sunrise of Des Peres was beautiful. I would love to live there myself and it had a lot of what I like. It sits on top of a hill, but it's kind of off by itself, so you can actually see the main drag of Manchester Road. It makes you feel like you're at home, which I was very excited about. They have a great library as soon as you walk in, and a beautiful wraparound porch with rocking chairs. They present the food in a beautiful way on beautiful, colorful plates. They give the memory care patients a choice of two plates. Simple choices are the best, and the food looked very healthy, appetizing, and is served in an open air atmosphere. The apartment I saw had a little bulletin board outside the door that introduces newcomers to that person without them actually going in, so you get to know the person before you actually meet them. They have two people to a room, one by the door and one on the other side. In the middle is a bathroom and you have lots of space for a visitor without necessarily disrupting your roommate. It was very comfortable even though it was small. You cAN personalize it to your liking pretty easily, and make it a home for your family member at little to no cost."

"The grounds at Harvester Residential Care were clean and neat. The rooms I saw were new (they had just built an addition to the facility). The size of it was satisfactory. The person who did the tour was very helpful. They were preparing food in the kitchen, and we saw the dining area, and it was clean. They have daily activities. They also have a couple of outings in a week that I saw in the schedule."

"Autumn View Gardens-Ellisville was what I would call a cozy community. The people were out and moving about throughout the halls, chattering, and seemed very, very much like a close-knit community. The rooms were fine. I think it would have been adequate for mom's needs. The lady there was very good for the tour. The dining area looked nice."

"Brookdale Creve Coeur had one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and studios. They had a variety of dining rooms, therapy room, and a swimming pool. It was all-inclusive, so the cost was more transparent. "

"I toured The Boulevard of St Peters. The executive manager was awesome. He was so nice, caring, talkative, and guiding us in the right direction. The unit they showed me was two rooms. It's got a walk-in bath and a little kitchenette. The staff was beyond great. The place was brand new and perfect. They had a walking area, which was nice, too."

"I toured here. They had a nice garden. They have nice apartments. I noticed they had full-sized kitchens and refrigerators. They were located in an urban area, which is nice for people who don't drive. All the people I met there were very nice. It seemed like a very good community. The staff was very good. He's very personable, very nice, covered everything, and took me around. I liked him and he was responsive to me when I had questions. They had a lovely dark area and a nice activity area. They have physical therapy and stuff like that. I think there was a theater. They offered transportation within 15 miles, I believe, and they were pet-friendly."

"Autumn View Gardens is very warm and welcoming. My mom is there right now. It has a family feel, like the residents are part of their family, and they make you feel very welcome and comfortable. There are a lot of residents out that are very easy to talk to and speak highly of the place. My mom says the food is OK. The staff is very friendly, nice, happy, and helpful. They are attentive to what needs to be done. They're going out of the their way to try and make her feel welcome and be a part of the place. My mom invited us all for dinner the day we moved her in, and they put two tables together and served us turkey sandwiches and chips and lemonade. "

"Lake St Charles Retirement Community was very nice, but it just was not for us. There is a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom in the room. It's a good size, but not for my furniture. Their dining room is gorgeous, and they have a lot of things to do. They have a library, a place to walk, and a store, and they take you places where you want to go, too. They have a lake across the street, which is really nice. The staff we met were very, very nice, and the building itself was nice. It's a little hard to find, but once you know where it's at, it's fine; you just have to figure out how to get there."

"My wife doesn't see very well and The Mary Culver Home is designed only for visually impaired women, and they've been in business for 150 years, so I like it. It's a small home. It only got 27 private rooms, so she gets a lot of one-on-one attention and they're very good. They are very attentive towards her and I would highly recommend anybody if their spouse is visually impaired, because that's the one requirement to get in. I like the fact that the patient to staff ratio was like 7 to 1 and the food's good. My wife seems to enjoy the food and they do activities with them all the time. So, they try to get them involved in various activities and I'm pleased. The rooms are small, but they're all private, and they have a private bathroom in them. It's plenty and big enough to get around. I think the home was built in 1966, I believe, so it is an older home, but it's well-maintained. They have a dining area and they kind of wait on them like it's a restaurant. They'll come up there and take their order, and whatever they want, they'll cook it for them. They have exercise classes. They do tours of different countries and stuff like that. They listen to those kinds of tapes and then discuss them. The other day when I was there, they were doing Martin Luther King's history and life. So, they do something like that all the time for them."

"My parents are in St. Andrews. I like it because it’s really homey, small, and the people are very caring. They provide activities and have outside courtyards where you can go and be safe. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I’ve eaten there a couple of times, and the food was good. They appear to care for the people and are generally concerned about my parents. "

"I toured Clarendale of St. Peters. It was great and I loved it. It was clean. It smelled good and it was beautiful. They have a hair salon, different activities, and a nice library. Everything was great. The staff was very polite, knowledgeable, and had a great enthusiasm for the place."

"My mother will do respite care here for the fourth time. I pretty much liked everything about it. The atmosphere as soon as I walked in the door, I just knew it felt homey. I liked the activities that they did and the interaction. She went on the tour with me and they made her feel welcome. I fell in love with the staff. While I was touring, she sat with some of the other residents and she was comfortable there. She ate all her food there. The place was very clean and it smelled clean. It was just like walking in The Hilton."

"I went to Friendship Village twice. I liked them, but they would not work with me. They're kind of hardnosed people. They don't budge on you. I talked to the staff, and they weren't very accommodating. They would not work with you. It was either you have the money or you don't, so I didn't care for that. It's an absolutely beautiful place. It was my number one choice until they wouldn't work with me. They wouldn't do anything, and they had a flippant attitude. Their attitude was take it or leave it."

"My mom has been in Memory Care at Kingsland Walk for over three years. The facility is well maintained and clean. We are thrilled with the Executive Director, who is organized. professional and easy talk with. She is good with employees and always smiling. The staff is wonderful ..from Maintenance to Housekeeping, Medicine and Caregiving. We adore the MC Director, Tanika, and all the Care, devotion and long hours she puts in caring for my mom and all the residents. She and her staff are the best we have had in all our tenure here and we feel extremely blessed that mom is safe, clean and cared for in every way. These wonderful people are like family to us."
