The Best Assisted Living Communities in Saint Charles County, MO

"I liked everything about The Lumiere of Chesterfield. They had a private chef who worked with the people who lived there to get on the menu what they preferred to eat according to their diet. A lot of these people are diabetics and when they go to another facility, they don't care what they eat, they just put garbage on the menu. This private chef makes a world of difference. They have high ceilings and big, spacious rooms. It's much more spacious than a lot of the facilities I've seen. It makes it feel much more luxurious and much more like home."

"In the last 12 months Town & Country Senior Living, has had: 2 Executive Directors, 4 Director of Wellness, High turnover of staff, Unable to get direct email for staff (had to go through main line), Poor communication between residents, staff, family and in house doctor, less than a year it has changed ownership again."

"The Solana West County was very beautiful and it was in the middle of a shopping area, but they still had some ground around. The cafeteria was beautiful and the rooms were nicely decorated. The staff were helpful and the residents could have their family over. The residents could also do some gardening, painting or use their fitness center. I would recommend this resort-like facility to others. "

"The Boulevard at Wentzville made it to my top of the list choices. They were wonderful and very accommodating. Their food was phenomenal. They had a menu that they can order from. They had a special of the day where they had entree choices, but they also had a menu that stays the same. They can have sandwiches, salads and burgers. It's very restaurant style and very delicious with tons of options. The rooms were wonderful, and the layout was really good. There were 2 separate buildings for independent and assisted. The independent was bigger and had more amenities, but they allowed the assisted living to come and use those facilities. The assisted living building was just as adequate, and it was laid out on one level because some of the residents had wheelchairs and walkers. Both buildings were excellent."

"I visited Brookdale Creve Coeur. One of my sister-in-law's requirements is that she has to have assistance to transfer and they will do that, where a lot of other facilities won't. My impression of the staff was good. I have a friend that lives there, and she says the staff is excellent and the food is good. I just went in and looked at the available rooms. They showed me a studio because that's all that they have available. She wants to get a one-bedroom and they might have one open in November. The rooms were spacious. They have transportation, laundry, personal care, and a dining room. They have all the amenities."

"My parents moved into Autumn View Gardens. We saw the room and we got to see the entrance. They showed us the cafeteria, and there was a balcony, but other than that we didn't see anything other than what we saw on film. My father says the food isn't that good. The only thing they use is the doctors, but my mother has dementia, and they're working on building their memory care. They have a staff at the front desk and a couple of nurses. Due to COVID-19 they don't really do too much, but they play bingo every now and then. Most of the food is stuff he can't eat. I know they can't cook for each individual because they don't have that many people there, but they should at least make it decent enough where they all can eat it. The price is a little high for what they're actually doing for them. It could be better for what they're paying. With this pandemic, we can't visit my father, but I took their new grandbaby over there and we held it outside the window and we took pictures. They are doing the best they can in this situation. It's hard for anybody when you're limited and restricted like we are. If it wasn't a pandemic, it would be a perfect place all the way around because there'd be visitations where you could take them out to dinner, but with all this going on, it just makes it extra hard, even on the staff as well as on the families and the people that are there. They're doing their best right now, and they're doing a great job. They're friendly as they can be when you go there."

"Autumn View Gardens - Ellisville was very nice. Someone had moved out of one of their rooms, and they were getting it ready for another person to come in. And so it was clean and very nice. The staff who gave the tour was very personable, very informative, and very nice. She gave me the tour with no hesitation. The dining area looked nice. It had tables and chairs. They had some different things on the tables for decoration. The staff showed me that they have activities like crafts and things like that in another area. The staff was great. She was very personable."

"I toured here. They had a nice garden. They have nice apartments. I noticed they had full-sized kitchens and refrigerators. They were located in an urban area, which is nice for people who don't drive. All the people I met there were very nice. It seemed like a very good community. The staff was very good. He's very personable, very nice, covered everything, and took me around. I liked him and he was responsive to me when I had questions. They had a lovely dark area and a nice activity area. They have physical therapy and stuff like that. I think there was a theater. They offered transportation within 15 miles, I believe, and they were pet-friendly."

"I've chosen here for my mom, and she has moved in there. It's been great. It's very clean. The people there are very nice, and they seemed to actually care about the residents there. I feel comfortable with my mother being there. They keep them occupied to a great deal. I appreciate that as far as just sitting in her room, they've got stuff for her to do every day."

"My wife doesn't see very well and The Mary Culver Home is designed only for visually impaired women, and they've been in business for 150 years, so I like it. It's a small home. It only got 27 private rooms, so she gets a lot of one-on-one attention and they're very good. They are very attentive towards her and I would highly recommend anybody if their spouse is visually impaired, because that's the one requirement to get in. I like the fact that the patient to staff ratio was like 7 to 1 and the food's good. My wife seems to enjoy the food and they do activities with them all the time. So, they try to get them involved in various activities and I'm pleased. The rooms are small, but they're all private, and they have a private bathroom in them. It's plenty and big enough to get around. I think the home was built in 1966, I believe, so it is an older home, but it's well-maintained. They have a dining area and they kind of wait on them like it's a restaurant. They'll come up there and take their order, and whatever they want, they'll cook it for them. They have exercise classes. They do tours of different countries and stuff like that. They listen to those kinds of tapes and then discuss them. The other day when I was there, they were doing Martin Luther King's history and life. So, they do something like that all the time for them."

"I toured Promenade Senior Living. Terry did a good job. She was enthusiastic. The rooms were small. It looked good, and they got a good job keeping it clean. I looked at the dining area, and it looked nice."

"It was new, very nice, and had all the same amenities and everything. The staff member toured us to the assisted living and memory care, and he was very knowledgeable and very informative. He showed me every bit of the facility and everywhere that the residents could go, and they all looked satisfied living there. So, it was a great tour. The staff spoke nicely to me. They came up, talked to me, and asked if they could answer any questions. The dining room was very open and friendly, too, and the rooms were really nice. I liked their setup better than the other place I saw. In the double room, you could put up a curtain for your privacy, as compared to other places where you had to walk through one person's room to get to the other side. It's just the layout was different, and it was nice. They had a recreation area where they played cards and games, a couple of different areas with TVs, and little areas where they had that Touch on Touch thing where there's a baby bed, a baby, and animals as you walk through the floor. There were like two of those areas. They do trips, too, where they take them out once a week. On the memory floor they do more activities, because those people have more of a need in the community."

"Friendship Village Sunset Hills is really nice. It's just too big for what we're looking for. But I felt really good about them. I felt like they had a lot of staff. I was really pleased to see so many people floating around. They seemed to know the clients' names, the people they were taking care of. There were things that they said they had available to the clients that I actually saw that they were available, which I thought was good. The fact that you could go from independent to assisted to skilled nursing there. We just didn't like that you had to go to separate buildings for that. That would be a challenge for my aunt to get there to see my dad if he were to start off in that. Their prices were higher than what we wanted to spend. However, it would have been pretty much all inclusive. It looked like they had everything we needed."
