I visited this facility

I went to Sunrise of Chesterfield. I didn't like anything about them. They were dirty, rundown, and old. It gave me a nursing home feel more so than an assisted living feel. The person who assisted me was very nice though. She gave me a tour, but when I walked in the door, it was just not a good feeling. The rooms were old and outdated. They had a meeting going on in the dining area, and everybody was in wheelchairs. That's what I didn't quite like. They just need to update it and clean it.

The tour I had at Sunrise of Chesterfield was good. They were overbooked, so the person who normally does the tour was not available. Someone else had to do that and she said it wasn't her specialty, but she conducted the tour. The room was good. The carpet is the only problem I had an issue with. It was a little outdated and stained and kind of brought a smell to the apartment, but that was my only complaint. I liked that they had a community dog there. I thought that added to the comfort of it. The staff during the tour was not in her realm, so she didn't know exactly what to say, but she was very nice and polite. It was very comfy and homey.

My brother is in Sunrise of Chesterfield. He's in assisted plus. They're understaffed, and their air-conditioner frequently goes out, but the place is in good condition. Most of the staff that show up to work are very nice and dedicated, but others frequently call in sick, and sometimes there's nobody there to run the dining room, so they have to buy McDonald's for the residents or order pizza for the residents. When they have somebody there cooking, my brother is very happy with the food. I've tried a couple of things, and it was good. I've seen them playing bingo and poker. They have a salon.

I liked Sunrise of Chesterfield. I liked the rooms, and everything was light. The food menu was good. There wasn't anything I didn't like about it. It was very good. My brother would have been there if the timing had worked out. The staff who gave us the tour was very nice and very competent. Probably the best presenter I've seen in a long time for that type of facility. The rooms were very bright, they were good-sized, and updated. It was lovely, and a very nice place. I would assume that people that go there would like it. Their staff seemed good. They do have medical staff on board, and I just dealt with the tour person, his name's Brendan. The facility is wonderful.

I toured the Sunrise of Chesterfield. They said they were going to help my sister shower and all that. They interviewed her. They came and visited to see if she would be a fit for their community. They did accept her, if we wanted her to go there. It's just that she started walking again, and she did not want to leave the place she was in because she had friends there. The staff was very nice. They seemed very friendly, and I was very impressed with that. I liked the place a lot. If I were picking a place for me, that's where I'd want to go. My sister just doesn't do well with change. The place was very clean, very nice, and very organized. It seemed like it was a good place. The person who gave me the tour said that they had a lot of activities too, so that was good.

We toured assisted living at Sunrise of Chesterfield. They have memory care there but they did not show it to me. It was very nice. It's a beautiful place. The staff and everyone seemed very friendly and accommodating. They would've been my second choice. It's smaller than the other place and the location was more limited. They're on a very busy highway there. They don't allow them to have their own car there. They do not provide service to their doctors' appointments, but they have outings. They had some activities, but it was on a much smaller scale compared to the other place. The dining area looked very nice, kind of like a restaurant-type feel. The rooms looked very nice, homey, up-to-date, and cozy. I only looked at a studio there. Maintenance and upkeep looked excellent. They had a library.

We have a place reserved at Sunrise of Chesterfield for my friend. They accepted her, but when they checked her out, they realized she was being treated for wounds on her legs and they could not do that treatment there, so then she went to skilled nursing and will go to Sunrise. I was the one that went and chose it for her. I was very impressed with it. I had a very good feeling the minute I walked in the door. It was warm and friendly. It just said to me this is the place. We did a physical visit and I looked at the rooms and they were very nice. The facility was very nice, clean, they had lots of good activities, good things to try to keep her going, exercise classes, and a nice dining area with the other residents. The thing I liked about it is it's small. There's another floor of memory care which I did not see. The staff during the tour was very good, showed me everything, was pleasant to work with, very directive, and straightforward. They have come to assess her twice to see if she's ready to come there. It's just very nice. I looked at other places and some of them were just way too big. There is a nice entranceway. I didn't look out back but I think there's space out in the back as I recall. I've had several people say, "Oh, yeah, that place is nice."

Sunrise of Chesterfield was my least favorite. The memory care was on the third floor. It was very close to Clarkson and there was a lot of highway noise, limited parking, and no real quiet space for residents to sit outside. They had a resident cat on the memory care floor, and my husband's allergic to cats. They're not furnished. It just didn't feel like a right fit for my husband. They had a higher aide-to-resident ratio than the other two places I visited. It didn't feel as homey. Because they had three levels of care there, there were a lot more people, and he'd be confined to the upper floors.

My mother is moving into Sunrise of Chesterfield. I went there last month. They were very nice, it was very clean. It looked like an excellent place with a lot of activities, and it seemed like a very caring place. I liked it, and it's in her price range. It was very kept up.

We had a very wonderful experience with Sunrise of Chesterfield. The staff was very accommodating and wonderful. It's very well done, very family oriented, and very professional. The rooms were more than adequate and felt homey. The dining area was very well organized and had lots of options. Out of all the communities I saw, this one was the best as far as continuative care past assisted living and into nursing.

I did not like Sunrise of Chesterfield. There wasn't enough parking. There were people parked in the fire lane in front of the building, so an emergency vehicle wouldn't be able to get in. I just got a bad impression right off the bat. I wouldn't want my mom there. There was no activity at all. The dining area wasn't clean, and there was a mess all over the floor. They had a hydration station, which consisted of just a jug and containers of water, and dried up muffins.

Mom has moved to the reminiscence floor at sunrise of chesterfield, and we couldn’t be any more satisfied. All of the staff has been helpful, kind and caring to our mother. We are getting the respect and support that she deserves. The caretakers are knowledgeable and patient , always helpful and kind. We are very satisfied with mom’s new home. Thank you to all of the staff!!

Unfortunately I referred my fiance Mother to the facility. There has been nothing but problems. The prices are higher then emancipated, the room is smaller. The staff to resident ratio is inadequate. Housekeeping is substandard and medication isn't being given at correct times. All the problems are being reported but nothing is being done. She is being charged the highest level of care but getting the least amount. She has been a resident for a week.

Sunrise was nice, but looked like a nursing home, and it felt like a nursing home. I walked in and said "There's no way, I'll put my parents there," then I walked out. The people were nice, but it was not what I wanted. The dining area was small, and I was just not impressed with any of it. They had a big porch, and people could sit on the porch, which was nice.

Sunrise was very nice, but I was looking for a private room, and it was too expensive. I had an appointment set up with a particular person to see the facility, but when I got there, that person was not available. It all seemed very nice, but I didn't really get a lot out of my visit. The rooms seemed quite nice but were larger and expensive. The dining area looked nice, bright, and cheery. I did not get any follow-up call after that from the person that was supposed to be there. That's pretty weak marketing, and because of that, I would not consider them. It was a nice-looking building.

My parents lived there for a short time on the memory floor - one parent with memory issues and one without, so we were able to know what was going on with their care. Lots of problems - medicine repeatedly not given at the proper time or at all, inconsistent help, several falls when the caregivers didn't come, poor communication and lack of a schedule. They failed miserably to deliver what Sunrise had promised - in my parents' own words.

Sunrise of Chesterfield was a three-story building, and I did not like that as much. All their fees were separated and seemed to be pricier. My overall impression was not that good. It didn't have a homey feeling to me. They had lots of activities and a hairdresser. They had varying sizes of rooms; some were larger and very nice, and some were much smaller. It could get expensive depending on the room that you pick.

Everything seemed perfect that is as far as amenities. They are poorly staffed at night. If you are able bodied this may be fine, otherwise you are ignored. Very pricey and staff not paid as well. A ripoff for sure. A lot of hidden fees.

Sunrise was too much like a nursing home for my dad. I didn’t want that kind of surroundings, so we didn’t chose that one. The staff and the amenities were fine, but the rooms were small for me. There were a couple of women playing cards, but I think it was more towards lunch time.

Sunrise only had assisted living, but my sister needed more skilled nursing care. Sunrise looks like a very nice facility, but it wouldn’t fulfill her particular needs. We looked at the dining area, but we didn’t go into the individual rooms once we found that they didn’t have what my sister needed. The dining area was very spacious and looked very nice. I would give it four stars because it was not able to fulfill our complete needs, and we probably should have been told that before we got there.

Everything at Sunrise of Chesterfield was good. We put a $1,000 deposit down, but it's further away than where my father is now so we changed our minds. This place was cheaper and appeared to be a lot better. The problem is, they still haven't returned my $1,000, and it's been about three weeks now. The staff was very accommodating and very nice. I liked the birds, saltwater aquarium, and the friendliness of the staff. The rooms were nice, too.

Don't send your loved one here. The staff do not care. They want you as a family member to assist them when you visit. Medication was not given as directed by her doctor. No one uses gloves between patients. Wrong information was given to us at our visit yesterday. Aides lied about medication then after 3 inquiries finally they said no your are correct she didn't get her morning medication. This took 3 hours for someone to give us the correct information. Dirty sheets and pillow cases which my daughter changed before we left. This is nothing more than a babysitting facility and a very poor babysitter at that....find another facility for your loved one. We are taking my mother out of here asap!

I visited this facility

We went to Sunrise, and I really liked it. I thought there were some neat things about it, but their memory care seemed really crowded. It might not have been. It might have been me. For me, I was looking for people that were more like my mom in the stage that she was in, and I saw more people at Sunrise that were in the more advanced stages of dementia. What turned me off was one of the hallways had a nursery theme. I don't really understand dementia that well. I do know that they would revert back, but I just felt that it was kind of too baby-ish. I just felt like at my mom's stage, that would make her really angry that we were putting her into something that seemed like a day care. I just didn't like the look of it as much. I felt it was too crowded. I didn't like the themes of the hallways. They had like dress-up clothes and things like that, and I just felt like my mom wasn't ready for that kind of thing. I don't know if that was normal. I wanted more of a hotel feel, and I believed that where she was, it was more of a hotel feel. Although, they were very nice and I didn't have any real problem with anything, it was just wasn't the right feel for my mom. In their memory care unit, their outside area was on the second floor, so when people went outside, it was just a deck area. It was enclosed and had some sitting areas, but it was small. They had plants and stuff, but it didn't feel like an outdoor area.

My mother moved in at Sunrise of Chesterfield four years ago and initially, they had a very caring staff and everything was very positive. However, just within the last couple of years, they had such a turnover in staff and nobody seemed to be concerned enough about whether or not she got her medicines on time. It just didn't seem like they could hire quality people who really care about what they are doing, as supposed to just showing up to get a paycheck. So it was very frustrating. Initially, we did like the initial staff that was there and the way the facility was designed. It was very much like a large home setting. I did like that. However, over the long haul, when they continued to have constant change-over, the people weren't the caring kind of staff that they had. The staff had really taken the turn for the worse. Also, the facility locked their doors at around 8 p.m., but because my mom still drives, she would go out and she would get back shortly after that period. She would even call ahead to let them know that she would be getting there in the next few minutes, but there were a number of occasions when she had to wait sometimes 20 to 30 minutes to have someone come let her into the facility.

I visited Sunrise of Chesterfield and I loved it. I liked the people there. I also loved what I saw. The place was very pretty and attractive. The only reason why I didn't choose this community was its distance from my home. We were ready to check him in there. Then, we got a phone call that a room became available in the facility that was closer to my home.

Very pretty, clean, comfortable apartments for assisted living. Staff friendly. Only complaint is the dining facilities. Very poor working staff and organization with dining. Unprofessional. This place is geared more toward Alzheimer and advanced dementia care, rather than just assisted living. So this is not so good when your loved one really needs to be around other residents that are not as mentally impaired.

My grandpa thoroughly enjoyed the daily meals and activities the facility provided. One of his favorite days was when they provided steak, because he always loved his salted steak. I was glad to see one moment in his life was fulfilled.Of course, needless to say, there was not a lack of religious fulfillment. They offered in-resident church services for the people attending. This also, like above, was a very imperative part of his life, so I was glad to see that fulfilled. The staff, despite some of their flaws that were not immediately apparent, tried their best to provide the most comfortable living conditions possible. I would more or less recommend.
