"Well I will tell you placing my young mom 70 years of age in a nursing home was a horrifying decision. We started in rahab which was great & then transitioned to skilled nursing home. We were drawn to the Quarters because of cleanliness & staff. We were sooooo lucky we landed there. My mom just passed away and with exception to 1 nurse all and I mean all of the staff was absolutely amazing and supportive as we trudged through the hardest days of our loves. Kind words, proactive actions, love, support...they really really care! I am shocked to say I would not have had my mom's last days with anyone else. The nursing home gave more to us then our own family & friends during our sad difficult time. Mom had a very nice room we were allowed to decorate & a very sweet room mate. The staff was responsive and always aimed to support mom & us. They don't have an easy job as many residence have minimal family and the staff is everything to them. The staff makes the Quarters and we are forever grateful for their amazing care & love!"

"Lutheran had a bed for my wife when she came out of the hospital and they gave her good care. The service in the nursing home part was very good. They had smart nurses and took good care of people. They thought about what they needed and physical therapy and other ancillary services were good. They knew when to call the doctor and when not to. It was a good place to be. They have a very old building and they've just put up a few hundred new units. Some parts were really beautiful and some were not so it's very variable depending on where you're at. They've got some very nice bungalows for independent living, 300 independent living apartments, assisted living, nursing element and Alzheimer's unit. "

"Garden View Care Center of Dougherty Ferry was a very nice facility. The staff was very friendly staff, very accommodating, and very nice. I like the layout. I knew what my brother liked. It was really a small area, but they've got very nice staff and very nice people. We couldn't go a thorough tour because of the Covid. They had a salon, but I didn't get to see a lot of it. I had a cup of coffee, and it was good. They had a lot of things they offered in the memory care unit. It was just so restricted because of the Covid."

"I went to Friendship Village Sunset Hills. It was very organized. It was very clean. They had all the amenities that I think they should have. The staff was great. The food was really good. He could help himself too if he wanted to in a little refrigerator. So that was good. What I did not care for is they wanted three years of financials, and I couldn't provide that for them because it's private pay like most of them are. And then the other thing was their cost. The cost was very expensive. The staff was very good. The staff, the nurses, the nurses' quarters where they were, their facility had everything you needed to have. They had very few Medicaid beds available if you would go on to Medicaid. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was very family-oriented. They had family rooms where you could take your loved ones with your family and visit with them available for you. So, overall, that whole place was fabulous. It's just that it was so costly."

"My mother has been at Mary Queen & Mother Center for approximately a month. She gets very good care there, and I am happy so far. The nurses and CNAs are very attentive, caring, and friendly. Mom has some extenuating circumstances (needs to be up and ready to go to dialysis 3 times a week) and they are very accommodating with that. The physical and occupational therapists are excellent too. The rooms are warm and seem "homier" than some others I've seen. "

"I felt Mercy St. Louis did a great job ensuring residents were properly cared for and secure. The staff was always very friendly and seemed to have some of the more helpful workers I've seen. The location of the care center next to a major interstate and Mercy Hospital made it easy to get to and from as well as allowed for an easy trip to the hospital for tests and doctors appointments. The interior of the care facility kind of gave off the sterile hospital feel however, with not much other than white floors and white walls. They didn't seem to have a whole lot of social events for the residents either, but this care facility had a lot of people unable to move on their own or really comprehend what was going on during a day-to day basis. I would however recommend this care facility for anyone who needs to put a love one in a facility able to care for more advanced cases of Dementia, Alzheimers, and other diseases that take a lot of care. "

"Terrible place the nursing staff is inept and lazy , they do not treat their patients with the dignity they deserve and they are hostile to family members especially if family has any questions, We got our loved one out asap I did not think places like this existed and for the sisters of mercy to put their name on this is unbelievable "

"While most facilities expect you to spend down your assets while living there and then will extend a medicaid paid bed to those who no longer have any money, Big Bend Woods opens it arms to all sorts of clients, regardless of their ability to pay. It is not the most up to date facility as a result, but it is clean, cheerful, accomodating to residents and their guests, and the staff is long term, kind, always willing to learn more, and spend a great deal of time caring for and being kind to residents of all abilities. I am so impressed with the facility that I have recommended it to several other people who are looking for a home for their loved ones. I couldn't say enough about how wonderful they have been with my aunt. "

"Fieser Nursing Center is excellent, it's clean, and it did fit my budget. They got 50 residents there. They're kept very well, no smell in there ever, and no noise whatsoever. I got a single room for half the price that they wanted at the other place. They have very good home-cooked stuff, and I've eaten there three or four different times. They play card games on Sundays, bingo on the others, they have people come in and sing, they have an organ player that comes in, and they're having a fashion show someday. The staff is excellent too. "

"We had to put my husband in the hospital, and they are going to put him in a nursing home. He was in there about eight years ago for rehab. I liked it because they never knew when I was going to pop in. It is affiliated with St. Anthony's Hospital. The place is clean, I like that there is no way you can smell urine or something. The smell in it is more like a home environment. It is comfortable, and they make you feel that you can come visit any time that you want. They don't have a set time for family members to come and visit. You can spend overnight with them if you want to; it is OK because they have their own room. So I think it is kind of a push to make them want to get better -- the homelike environment. It is a nursing home, but it has got some sense of a home in it. It is a professional but a homey environment. The caregivers are very attentive to the residents. Like I said, I like it, and if I had to pay a little bit out of my pocket, I wouldn't mind because it is worth it. "

"My mom was at Barnes-Jewish Extended Care. Almost all the staff, except for one person, were wonderful. The care was excellent, and they were very attentive. It was very expensive and was $610 per night, which was unbelievable. Because of COVID, they weren't using the various rooms. There's a special dining room if you wanted to invite other family members over for the evening and they had kind of a group room with a lot of windows and a fireplace and a TV, and my mom wasn't able to do any of that. Her room was fairly nice, though. It's an older place, but it was nice."

"I chose Mason Pointe for my husband. Right now, he's in skilled nursing there. After they evaluate him, we are hoping to get him over to the assisted living side. What I like most is the help. They are always very positive and very friendly, and that's the number-one thing. Second, the food is very good. They have a lot of selections, the food is fresh, and it is served very well. It's different now than it was because of the pandemic, but they are doing fantastically. I'm very pleased with it. The staff is excellent and always positive. The communication between the staff and the caregivers needs improvement."

"In the midst of the Corvid 19 pandemic we are still frequently faced with the sad question "What about Mom?"  Or Dad. Or Aunt Amanda?"  Or ourselves should we become incapacitated.  Sometimes it feels as if we're at the mercy of strangers. I've been a resident of the Green Park facilities since February 2019.  I came here from the hospital needing two people to lift me from the bed to standing and lower me into the wheelchair.  I had severe neuropathy of the lower legs and my time in the hospital had taken my ability to stand let alone walk.  In a little over two months the tough love therapists at Green Park's 360 Advance took me from a wheelchair to a walker to being able to get around well with a cane. Having lost my apartment during my hospitalization I elected to stay as a resident, meeting Medicare/Medicaid requirements and medical needs.  Green Park met my two top requirements of safe and clean while also being conveniently located in South County, close to friends. In the time I've been here I've seen a lot of changed, chief of which being the current administration winnowing out the staff with lackadasical to bad attitudes and replacing them with people skills and people service mentality.  The place had always been very clean and the pandemic brought a program of regularly disinfecting surfaces, hand rails and door handles.  I grew up on the deep Southside and I know "scrubby Dutch" clean when I see it.  (It should be Deutsche since there weren't any folks hailing from Holland.) But I digress. They have a program of regular Corvid testing for staff as well as residents and a carefully quarantined section for residents testing positive.  For safety and social distancing hot meals are served in the resident's rooms.  Those showing no symptoms after two weeks quarantine are worked into the Green Park Senior Living building.  Administration has a hands on, open door policy as they strive for the level of caring and competent service you require for your loved one.  Or yourself.  I can without hesitation recommend Green Park Rehab/Therapy for recovery and Green Park Senior Living for those of us needing long term care."

"The Gatesworth is a very well-organized and well-run community with many amenities. The staff is courteous and helpful. They serve lunch and dinner and we prepare our own breakfast. We only went there once for breakfast. It was my kind of coffee and my kind of cereal; the other food was respectable. The activities are very good. I'm able to do their fitness and meditation classes, we go to movies, we often hear music, and entertainment comes in."
