My wife was at this facility for about 3 weeks receiving physical and occupational therapy. The therapy was good and effective. The staff at all levels was excellent, even to the point of some staff members providing assistance outside of their prescribed roles. The food was good, well prepared and hot. The facility was good, pretty well maintained, with plenty of lighting in all patient areas. Prior to this stay, my wife had spent several weeks at the Christian Extended Care facility and had a terrible experience there. This Barnes Jewish facility far surpassed our previous experience. I highly recommend the Barnes Jewish Extended Care facility. The lesson here is to not rely on the Medicare star ratings. They have very little bearing on the level and quality of patient care.

My mom was at Barnes-Jewish Extended Care. Almost all the staff, except for one person, were wonderful. The care was excellent, and they were very attentive. It was very expensive and was $610 per night, which was unbelievable. Because of COVID, they weren't using the various rooms. There's a special dining room if you wanted to invite other family members over for the evening and they had kind of a group room with a lot of windows and a fireplace and a TV, and my mom wasn't able to do any of that. Her room was fairly nice, though. It's an older place, but it was nice.

A fine facility with quality care for rehabilitation and extended care. Good communication and access to professional staff. Still, family members/caregivers must be proactive to ensure highest level of medical care and quality of living.
