"I toured Kingsland Walk Senior Living. I was impressed with how new the building seemed. The facility was excellent, but the location, I would not feel comfortable walking my dog outside. All the staff that I met were very friendly. The structure of the building and cleanliness was excellent. You have everything there from independent living to memory care, all mixed in one place. It's good, but it also sometimes can be depressing as an independent living person because you're also seeing the assisted living and memory care people mixed in with the independent living."

"My mom went to Autumn View Gardens for five days. It's a new facility, just about eight years. The thing I like about this facility are the hallways; they are wide. The place was certainly brighter because they had bigger windows. The decor is updated. The staff were very nice and very helpful. They were very attentive to all of her needs. She enjoyed her time there. She said the food was good. The rooms were very nice, very new, and updated. It's a very nice facility. "

"Brookdale Creve Coeur offers the finest independent living and also assisted living. My mother was in Independent living and she described it like living at a resort. She felt very well taken care of. She made friends easily and quickly and enjoyed the camaraderie that they all shared. They have plenty of activities so they have something to appeal to all. From activities taking place inside the building to wonderful and varied field trips to great locations around the St. Louis area. The Saturday evening entertainment is always a fun and uplifting experience with a variety of music to entertain the residents. The food is amazing! There are lots of choices for dinner; there is always something offered that is appealing. The brunch buffets are varied and full of wonderful and different options. The apartments are very adequate with nice floorplans. The staff is also highly caring and effective and work hard to care for all residents. I highly recommend Brookdale of Creve Coeur."

"My mother-in-law will be moving into Sunrise of Des Peres. She's wheelchair bound. This is a level 3 assisted living and they could do a Hoyer lifting. The rooms were smaller than I wanted. The facility was great, but it's bigger than we wanted. There were 50 assisted living units. Everybody was friendly. The one-bedroom we picked had a little sitting area, but the bathroom is not in the bedroom. There's no door, so it's hard for me to call that a bedroom. The staff was very nice. They have Bingo, crafts, painting, outings, and plenty of things that she can do. The food was real good. The facility was nice and clean, and there's no odor. It's three stories, and the third floor is memory care. I like that the hallways were a shorter distance, and she won't have to go very far to go to the elevator."

"Friendship Village Sunset Hills was the most expensive of the places we toured. It's a beautiful place. It's a large complex, I think it's 52 acres. They have villa homes and then the regular apartments that you have to put in like $200,000 or something to get into it. Then they have a maintenance fee of like about $3,200 to $3,600 a month you have to pay, and that's for the upkeep, for your meals and all that. It's a big expense to stay there. I think she only showed us one room that was empty, and that was like the one-bedroom apartment style, and it did have a balcony. If you wanted one with a better view, then that was like about $200 more a month. They have everything there. The staff went into the financial part right away, and we got confused with all the plans. It's sort of like a country club or something, you get the impression of that. There's the swimming pool and they have all kinds of activities. They have the vans that take you out, there's a library, and a theater room."

"In the last 12 months Town & Country Senior Living, has had: 2 Executive Directors, 4 Director of Wellness, High turnover of staff, Unable to get direct email for staff (had to go through main line), Poor communication between residents, staff, family and in house doctor, less than a year it has changed ownership again."

"This facility is the home to a great-aunt of mine. I always enjoy visiting her in this home. There are consistently activities and festivities happening. She has normal services available to her including postal, beauty, light shopping, and a full service gym. As an active senior, she enjoys the freedom but also fellowship that this particular center offers her. The only negative I've heard her mention is the high rollover of nursing staff. On visits, the facility appears clean and welcoming. "

"My mom is staying at Mizpah Manor. It is an assisted living facility and it is wonderful. They have the options for furnished apartment or providing your furniture. They have nice size room, with nice bathroom and nice big windows. Everything there is good. The Food is fabulous. The staff is very kind and very considerate. They treat everyone that's living there like it is the residents' home and not you living in our facility. It is a wonderful place. They have movie night every night. They have an activity person. The therapy is available at home care agency. They do medication. They have a courtyard with garden and they are allowed to have pets. I recommend them to other. "

"We visited The Solana and it was a beautiful facility. The manager that met with us was terrific. He was very helpful and spent a lot of time with us. The assisted living and the memory care that they had was terrific. It was very secured, very new and very nicely planned. If you had a senior that's very functional but could no longer maintain a house on their own or didn't want to, this would be a beautiful and terrific facility.They had a lot to offer. Though it was not inexpensive, it was affordable and of good value for what it offered. I was very confident in their ability and they had an ala carte pricing which really meant you pay for the services you used. There was a charge for the room and board and then you add on just the services that you needed. I thought that was a very fair way of doing things that if you needed more services, then you had to pay more because you took up more time of the caregivers. However, my grandfather is 96 and he was a significant fall risk. The facility wasn't really designed as a skilled nursing home or for people that were such in an advanced age like my grandfather. There was just too many patients per caregiver and had a higher fall risk. They couldn't give the one-on-one care that may grandfather needed. If somebody was younger with Alzheimer's, dementia an memory loss, but had much physical function, it would be different. They really don't have the mobile assistance that he needed and his dementia and Alzheimer's were so severe that he doesn't know how to ask for help and call for assistance. "

"We've visited Friendship Village Chesterfield a couple of times. There's a lot of construction going, so there were temporary signs posted. But we had a good meal there. When we went again there to sign the contract, they said to stay on for dinner. We met people there from our church, and saw signs outside doors of people we know. It's a large place with several buildings that are connected by a hallway from one building to another. So you can go to another place without being cold outside. There are several apartment buildings. The business manager who took us around was very helpful and informative. They have like a meeting room or a lounging area with a pool table. There are places for the residents to get together, and meet for card games, or watch TV together. They have a monthly catalog or calendar that they hand out to everybody so they can see what's going on and when. Also, they furnish transportation to other places for people who want to schedule it. The staff there were very helpful. There are about 4 or 5 buildings and some are newer. We're going to have a 2-bedroom apartment, but we need assistance in cleaning the apartment and some meals. The living room at our apartment has a kitchen at the end of it, there's a stove, a dishwasher and cupboards, and living room. There's also a laundry that we can use with multiple people on the building uses. It's just down the hall from the apartment we looked."

"I liked everything about The Lumiere of Chesterfield. They had a private chef who worked with the people who lived there to get on the menu what they preferred to eat according to their diet. A lot of these people are diabetics and when they go to another facility, they don't care what they eat, they just put garbage on the menu. This private chef makes a world of difference. They have high ceilings and big, spacious rooms. It's much more spacious than a lot of the facilities I've seen. It makes it feel much more luxurious and much more like home."

"I have moved in. Everything is on time, and everybody is really nice. The place is clean and it doesn't smell. When you call the staff, they come pretty quickly. However, the food is better than the place where I was at last. I haven't had much of a chance to access anything other than just the apartment and the dining room. I think the activities are good overall. The value for the money is very good, too. I don't have to provide too much of my own things because everything else is provided."

"I have toured Lake St. Charles Retirement Community. The only thing we didn't like is they don't allow scooters, and my mom needs one. Everything else was great. We loved it. It's an independent living. The person who gave me the tour was very compassionate and knowledgeable. They had a lot of large, open gathering areas. I think they got a movie theater, ice cream, and coffee bar."

"Garden Place of Columbia was very decent. The girl walked me around and actually talked to one of the residents more than I did to her. The place was spacious and very clean. They had a snack bar with soda and whatever drinks they wanted always open during the day, so they could go over there anytime if they wanted something to eat. "
