"I toured Harvester Residential Care. I appreciated the warm welcome that I received. Everyone that I spoke with was very kind, friendly, and helpful. They answered my questions. I was glad to be able to see the assisted living center, as well as the group housing options. My questions were answered, and I received literature and a card to take home if we wanted additional information or assistance. The menu was posted. It was very helpful, also. They have outdoor spaces near the driveway, near the front entrance. I saw comfortable chairs, and the grounds were very well-maintained."

"The Rockwood is set up very nicely for independent living. There are exercise facilities, a laundry room, a sitting room, and a dining room. Most of the time, the lunch is available if you want it, but since it's an independent facility, most of the tenants eat out. The facility serves breakfast, lunch, and brunch on Sundays just in case you come back from church and want to eat. It's a really nice setting even though it's by an old railroad track. The Rockwood is an old, country-style living community, and it's quite quaint. The building has elevators, and all of the rooms are excellently done with wood trim. They have a cart inside if you need assistance getting around. The building has been updated. The people there are very kind, nice, and understanding. The rooms have nice views and outside patios. There are about three entrances, and the residents have their own parking lot. Residents can do gardening. The staff actually takes care of the patios, but if they like, the tenants can do it as well. It is a very nice setting, and it's a very nice area. "

"I toured Friendship Village Chesterfield. I love the property. It's absolutely beautiful. It's right next to Faust Park, and the Butterfly House is right there, and that's a wonderful attraction. The people that work there are amazing. Absolutely amazing. They're the kindest group. I've worked with a lot of people in real estate when I was in real estate, and I've also worked in other areas, and these people just exceed anybody I've met in a business relationship, so I'm really impressed. They're so kind, and they act like your family. And the facilities are so beautiful. I'm getting one of the smallest rooms. It's not a studio. It's a step up from there. What I like about them, when anybody moves out, they go in and gut that unit down to the studs, and everything is new, and then you have new appliances as well. The staff member who toured me was wonderful."

"We picked The Village at Morse Farm for my mom. It's closest to us. It's very pleasant and nicely done. One of my mom's good friends still lives there, so that's a big plus. It's very accommodating. They take care of everything for you, and it was going to be very easy if my mom needed to transfer into Medicaid funding. You can still stay there. They don't make you leave or wait or move or anything, so that was a consideration, too. The staff who gave the tour was very informative. The room was very pleasant and nice. Nice surroundings. They have one- and two-bedrooms, and so it would be very helpful to have that possibility. We didn't try any food, but the dining area was nice, open, bright, and pleasant. My mom's friend just loves it there. That's probably the reason we were thinking of it, especially since it's the closest one to us. She said, "I just live like a queen. They take care of everything. It's like living in a resort." It's reasonably priced compared to all the other ones around us that I called."

"Revela at O'Fallon looked nice. It's far better than the other place. It is relatively new. The dining room has a super high ceiling. They have a wing of apartments that are two stories, and you can overlook the dining room from the top part of the apartment wing for assisted living. It feels roomy, even though it's not a very big room. On the memory care side, they have a large living dining space. The staff members have been very helpful, but it's unfortunate because I don't think it's going to be the place we choose. The food was excellent. It was great. No pets in memory care though. There was a piano in the open area in the memory care and somebody was playing while I was there. A resident talked to us and she said she loved it there. I thought it was a great place to be. The people that were there were very pleased with it."

"Everything at The Boulevard of St Peters was very well done. It was relatively new. It's just been there for a year. So, everything was nice. We had already put a deposit there for Mom, but we didn't get to use it. The lady was very professional."

"My mother-in-law is moving here. They provide meals and she needed that. I thought she needed someone else to be there and help her in and out of the shower but she can actually bathe herself because their shower is a regular handicap shower so she probably won't have any trouble with it. As soon as we walked in the door, it's a beautiful place. It's roomy and airy. They took us on a tour and we saw the room that was available. It's been redone, it's beautiful, big and airy. It has big bay windows in it that made it really nice and homey. It also made it airy, you won't feel like you're closed in. We continued on and the facility was made into a big square so you can't really get lost, you just continue walking and you'll get to your room. Everything about it made me feel like I want to move in. It's a really, really nice facility. We're really happy and just overly impressed with everything. The activities and amenities were presented to us, they had them on a paper and we looked at the activities that they had and things going on. They told us that if she would want to go to Walmart or somewhere else, they had somebody with a van that takes whoever wants to go. They go places or take them to doctor appointments, it's all available for them. They're making their people feel like they're home away from home, for sure. They're not going to feel like they're closed in. It's definitely not like a nursing home and it's very, very nice."

"Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections is the one I like the best. I like the parking place in front and a separate outside door. I like the outside door. I would want to be on the outside so I could go in and out without having to go into the actual place if I wanted to. They have pool tables, and they have coffee machines and other things there for you to use. They have tables for people that want to do things together like play cards and do all that kind of stuff. It's a good location. It's right off Route 111, so it's not hard for people to find. They provide your food and all that stuff. It's got a menu like most places. You have the main course going on and then they have side dishes that you could order if you don't like the main course. The person that showed me around was very nice. She took me all around and showed me everything. It has a beauty shop and a theater. They have movies that they show. Of course, the movies are your regular DVDs and it is not like going through the show itself, but they are nice. The staff took me into different rooms. The only thing we didn't look at was a two-bedroom, but they were all taken. We looked at singles and we looked at the studios. The studio was too small for me. It's very clean. You walk in the front door, there is a desk there for people to help you. Straight ahead is a television with a kind of like a gathering area. Behind that is where the pool table is, and behind that is where you eat. So, it's all right there together, and then the rooms are going around the side. The whole thing makes a circle, so if you start walking on one side, you make a whole circle around."

"I was just looking for independent living and Villa Rose was the one that came up. They were very accommodating of what we needed. They were gonna make adjustments to a room specifically for my mother. The people were very friendly and took the time. They didn't rush us through anything, so that was a big difference from another place we looked at. They helped us out with everything. I had no complaints. They had everything that she needed based on what they're telling me. It was very clean. They had a salon. It's within 10 minutes from restaurants and the hospital is maybe 15 minutes."

"I was very impressed with the Estates of Hidden Lake. It looked very clean and very nice, and I would recommend it. They have single and double rooms and the residents seemed to be happy there. The staff was very friendly and seemed to be knowledgeable. They were having a big event for the neighborhood at the time we were there."

"I toured Village North Retirement Community. It's independent living, but it has some extra features, like two meals a day and housekeeping. Every floor has a laundry room and every floor has a visitation area. The staff followed up and he's keeping in touch with us. The food was excellent, the taste, the quantity, and available substitutions."

"We had a tour of St. Catherine Retirement Community's independent living, and it was wonderful. It was a very, very nice place. I enjoyed it, and the people were nice. Even some of the residents came up and talked to us and said that they love it there. It was just a wonderful experience. The lady who showed us around was so kind. It was nice and clean, and that's really what we look for. I love the apartment that we looked at. It is perfect for my brother. It had a living room, a bedroom, a walk-in shower, and a little kitchen. It was just marvelous. I just have to work on finding him some furniture."

"I also visited this facility. I saw a different view from the first description. I saw people my age acting like regular people. I won't describe them as "cute" - like they are in their second childhood. Their "little" bus is the same size as any other shuttle bus. The place is nice, I like that you can hang out and play card with each other, whatever. I plan to move there because the residents to me are neighbors with dignity, not cute old people. "

"I was told that St. Patrick Apartments have activities planned, but I wasn't provided a calendar for those. It's a secure community, and the security is great. I wasn't necessarily impressed because the facilities looked a lot older, like the refrigerator and bedrooms; it was satisfactory I guess. One of the things I noticed upon walking in was that there was that pungent odor and smell of urine immediately. It wasn't as nice as the other place I visited. I met the director or manager, and she took me on a tour. I didn't get introduced to the staff. She didn't really get into a lot of details in terms of providing a lot of information, like the amenities available."
