"I toured Apostolic Christian Skylines. It was beautiful scenery. It was not too far outside of town, but it was away from everything. My problem with it was the cost. It was more on the pricey side. Other than that, it was a great place. I like the menu and all that they have to offer. The room was nice. However, for what my father was trying to bring (He's a packrat and he was trying to bring too much), it would have been a little tight. It is ample space for what you need in there. Overall, if I could afford it, it would have been a perfect place. The staff members were very helpful. There were no dumb questions. I didn't feel stupid. No question was illiterate to them. The staff was really friendly. The facility got a little confusing, not so much for me, but my father."

"My dad is at Serenity Assisted Living & Royce Elliot Memory Care. It’s new, and bright, with big rooms. He has a 1-bedroom apartment, and he likes it. He likes the food. He stays in his room and reads a lot. The staff is very friendly."

"We toured Saxony Court Senior Living. We didn't like the fact that the rooms were so small. The building looked clean, and the staff who assisted us was very nice. But they didn't have a lot of activities for men."

"We did an in-person tour at Villas of Holly Brook and Reflections East Peoria. We liked it. It was bright and airy. The staff was really knowledgeable and very friendly. It seems like they have all the facilities and amenities that you could ask for. Everything is pretty much covered. They have the rooms and the dining hall. They have a physical therapy room, laundry service, and beauty salon. It's like a little self-contained community. They seemed to have an answer for every question that we had. The person who showed me around was very nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable about the services they provide. When we first got there, the lobby and everything was nice, but just being first-time people there, it was a little confusing as to where we were going. However, it seemed like it was set up well, it's just that you have to be a little bit more familiar with it to know where you're going. The rooms were nice. The facility was nice and bright. They would be a 4, but the only thing is that the layout at first is confusing."

"I'm in St. Francis Woods. I toured it and I liked what I saw. I have my own private apartment, and so far, the people I've met I've liked. I like being here. It's out of the city. They supply your food, laundry, and apartment cleaning, and they take us to different places for activities. Usually, anywhere from two to four times a month, they bring you to either Kroger or Walmart. I like the scenery outside. It's surrounded by trees. We have CNAs. There are like six sections with apartments in it, and a CNA takes care of two of them during the day, and they're very efficient. If you need medicine, they're the ones that come, and give it to you. If you ask them for something or whatever, they would find out how to do it or do it for you. We have our own little store here, and you can smoke outside anywhere on the grounds. We have bingo three times a week. The food is pretty much regular food that you would make at home. The building is very solid, and it's very clean because they have maintenance, which is two gentlemen who take care of the whole building inside and out, and then they have a cleaning lady who cleans each hallway and then each room in that hallway depending, upon the day. The CNAs will do your laundry for you if you need it done. This Tuesday, we're going to a baseball game here in Peoria. Once a month, during the summer, they take us fishing."

"Courtyard Estates was very nice. The dining room was on one floor, and the apartments were on the second and third floor. For somebody really ambulatory, it would be just fine, but it might be a stretch for somebody who is disabled. The staff seemed to be fine. "

"My brother is at Liberty Village of Peoria. It has a basic layout for the skilled nursing facility. It has long hallways with individual rooms, which look like you're in a hotel. The rooms are quite big. In the skilled nursing area, there are 2 people in a room, but each room is 32 feet long by 16 feet wide. So, it gives each resident a little bit of space on his own. Their rehab facility seems very well educated and most of the people there are kind and caring. They seem to have fun with the residents. Those who need help feeding themselves seem to be taken care of. I've been going out there almost every day and I go out at lunchtime, so the food looks pretty good. I haven't sampled it, but I watch most of the residents eat and they seem to be enjoying themselves. The desserts look especially good. My brother mingles with the people who can go down to the lounge, and they have little activities there like games, but there was not a lot to do on the skilled nursing side."

"We ended up putting my dad in Washington Villas of Holly Brook. He has only been there for a week, but I think it is a perfect fit for him. He loves it. The staff is great. I love Angela, the director. She is great. They are on top of things. If he has to have an appointment made, they make it and refill prescriptions. They are very good. The have an activities director and a card group. "

"We looked at Villas of Holly Brook. It was very good. We walked through the facility. The staff showed us everything and explained everything. It met all our expectations on that. They had more activities, but the folks there were a little more restricted than independent living. They still had trips, they took them to the local stores, and they took them to the different things and they had movie nights and things like that, but they're a lot more structured events for them. The facility was very nice, and the layout was nice. Everything was there. I didn't see as many people. I think those people are a little bit more homebound than independent. It looked to be newer. They had like a 1950-style diner in there for lunch and early meals. They had two different dining areas. The rooms were very clean and a little smaller than the one my mom ended up with at the other place. But for what one needed, they were more than ample, clean, and well kept. The staff were all friendly and cooperative. The facilities were a little bit more modern and newer. "

"My mom moved into Snyder Village Assisted Living. It’s a beautiful place and updated, so it looks brand new, clean, and feels very homey. The care that she was given there was top notch. They helped her with medication. The staff was kind and cheerful, and the administrative staff was very understanding and accommodating. The activity gal was wonderful. Their dining room was nice, and the food was institutionalized, but they made sure that it was lovely for them. "

"My mom will move into John M. Evans Supportive Living. They have very friendly staff, and are very welcoming. I did two tours there. I really liked the actual room arrangement. It was very large, and to her, it would be more homey, like she's living in her own apartment, which was my big thing. It's a two-level thing, but they have elevators. They have people who come in and do their laundry and clean their rooms once a week. During the time that I was there, they were eating lunch, and it smelled very good. They have a menu on the side, right before you go into the dining room. If you don't want what's on the menu that day, they have an a la carte option that they can make for you. So you have two choices, and that's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have an outdoor. They can go outside. They have a little walk around that they can do. They have a little back gazebo and chairs out back where they can go out and sit in the sun if they want to. They have activities, and they get a little money thing so they can win prizes or buy stuff. They've got a little store, and they can buy stuff out of it. It was under a little bit of construction, but other than that, everything was clean: the bathrooms, the hallways, and everything."
