"Evergreen Place Supportive Living was good and brand new. The apartment was a studio with a small kitchen. The staff was good and very knowledgeable. They had an exercise room, an activity room where you can play games on the TV and have get-togethers. They had a bus that took the residents to the mall. We had lunch, and the food was good and in huge portions. "

"Tanglewood Village is wonderful, pleasant, and bright. We went to visit a room, and each has its own kitchenette but not where my parent would actually cook. They have a place where you go eat, and they serve good food. During the time we were there, one of the ladies there baked something, so they were passing out the dessert she made. It was like a little community inside for elderly people. It is definitely very clean and really nice. "

"We loved Evergreen Place Decatur. It would be closer to where I want to shop. The staff was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information. I think my husband would have picked that one. They've made arrangements with the hotel next to them so that their people could go there and swim. That's the one thing he misses. We're interested in the one-bedroom."

"CHELP is a wonderful Senior Home Care Agency in Decatur Illinois! We had them help with the care of my Grandma's house care and shopping needs due to her not being able to get out and not being able to do them on her own. CHELP tends to hire workers go that go above and beyond what their job entitles them to do. My Grandma had one worker that became friends with the family and was very special to us. As her health began to fail we had to rely on them more and we were always very happy. They never complained about having to go to the store when it was really cold or really hot or doing laundry or anything. Once we put her in an assisted living facility and no longer needed their services there was a couple of workers that kept in touch with us and her. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for Senior Home Care to call CHELP. "

"My mother-in-law is in Eagle Ridge. It is close to us, and it is government subsidized. They offer free membership to the Y, which is just down the street. The staff bends over backwards to help. Right now, my mother-in-law doesn't have her vision much anymore, so they are helping her go to the dining room and back. They help her have her clothes picked out and stuff. We never have any issues with any of them, and I will give them a top score. We think the food is good. She has a one-bedroom apartment with a nice big closet, a living area, a kitchenette with a microwave, a refrigerator, and she has a handicap accessible bathroom. When she first went in there, she could see and can get around a little better which was around 7 years ago. She is on the Wii bowling team, and they go around other facilities or other facilities go there, and they have a city wide competition. They have a little bus, and they take them to classes at the Y. They have cooking upstairs. They have bingo. They have music groups that come in. There is always something going on. They do a lot of different things. "

"Primrose Retirement Community of Decatur was very nice and very clean. They had lots of amenities, like a billiards room, an ice cream parlor, and a list of activities for the residents. There was a tier of increasing levels (if needed) for assisted living, so that was nice. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They followed up after our visit to see if we had any more questions or what our thoughts were."

"I went to The Arc at Hickory Point. I didn't think, for the price, that they had everything to offer, like other facilities. I just saw the apartment, and she showed me a few sitting areas, but they didn't have the activities I thought my grandmother would like. You didn't see but one activity room. It was very clean, but you didn't see a big room other than the dining room, which was engaging. They had a studio that was very, very small, and that would not work, but the one-bedroom apartment they showed me was very nice and spacious. They have a beauty shop, but I couldn't think it had the activities my grandmother needed for the price. The staff who gave the tour was very kind. They gave me a thorough look at everything."

"Hickory Estates of Taylorville was a little bit older and not quite as up-to-date as the others, but as far as the staff and all, my impression was good. They had their own little bus that will take people shopping. I saw the board where they had something going on every day."

"Taylorville Estates Inc was a nice place. The rooms were nice, and everybody was attuned to what was going on. They had to improve their ventilation system because it's a little stuffy and it didn't seem fresh there. They had a beauty salon and will do your laundry or you can do it yourself. They had a nice dining room and exercise equipment, they can arrange physical therapy if you need it, and they give you your medications. The staff was friendly, and I was very impressed that the manager was an RN who's very in-charge and had everything under control."

"Life’s Journey is small -- they only take fifteen people -- but it seemed like a nice and clean place. The rooms have a large bedroom with a bath. They have a dining facility, TV, movies, and games. "

"My mom moved here. Everything about the community is inviting, friendly, and clean. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They treat my mom like family. They have an outdoor area. They have a gym. They have a library. She's a smoker, so she does have access to smoking areas. They have a monthly schedule of activities. I chose it, first and foremost was the location and the small community feel."

"We toured Hickory Estates. It has a nice location, the rooms are comfortable, and the staff is friendly and cordial. Had mom's condition been a little bit better, we may have gone with them. The rooms are nice and well kept, the arrangement is simple, and they look clean. It seems to be pleasant."

"Eberhardt Village is a very nice facility. The people that are running it are very caring, and it's very clean. It's beautiful and very well-cared for. It is a very nice place to be and not a depressing place at all. There is no pool and because of COVID I cannot tour inside. When I visited my mother, they brought her out into their informal living room to meet me. Their food is according to what the residents can eat; so they have a particular food for a particular patient. Maybe it is kind of bland, but that's where they are in life in this kind of environment which is memory care. They get their meals on time."
