"I went to Autumn Leaves of Gurnee and they have mailboxes and mirrors to direct them back to their rooms if they happen to get lost. They have an outside garden. The facility was great. The staff was wonderful and took the time to give me a tour and explain and give me a lot of information. They have assisted care, but I went to see the memory care for respite care or daycare."

"The experience was very positive. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. Everyone we met with was friendly and courteous and knowledgable. They were very understanding of the issues associated with placing my friend's mother in this facility. The units appeared to be very comfortable and well furnished. The "commons" area was easily accessible and had a homey feel to it. "

"I toured Bickford of Gurnee and liked the fact that it's a smaller, more intimate setting. They did have a few activities for the seniors to do—two or three, but I would prefer a larger range of activities for them. I thought the rooms were good; they were decent-sized for one person, smaller than a regular apartment but a bit larger than a studio. The rooms served their purpose well for sleeping and eating, whether you preferred sitting in bed or in a chair. There were bars around the toilet area and in the shower there was little seat that could be held down for sitting. This was beneficial since my mother is advised to sit rather than stand."

"We toured Theresa's Home Care LLC 1. It was very nice. It seemed very clean. It's a home. It's not like an institution. It's not like a facility, so it's homey, and you get that homey feeling. We only really met with Teresa. There were some nurses there, and the dietary people were there, but we didn't meet them. Teresa was very nice, very welcoming, and warm. They do home-cooked meals. We saw them setting the tables and preparing, because it was getting ready to be dinner time. Their outdoor area was beautiful, with a lot of lawn. They had a recreational area downstairs on that first level where they do bingo or card games, puzzles, and things like that. It's like a mansion. I mean, there's like seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. It's beautiful. The rooms are shared with patients, and I'm not necessarily saying I like that. There is no option for a private room."

"After being at a substandard horrible facility for the past couple of years, I can not tell you HOW refreshing it has been to place both of my parents at Victory Lakes in the past week. It has been like going from a bad Stephen King house of horrors to the most divine and heavenly place on Earth for them. I am so pleased with the administration, the entire staff, the attention to detail and the responses to every concern that I had as I moved my parents there. I am so happy that I have cried several times tears of joy. What a wonderful place and May God bless everyone who works there. They truly care about the residents and their families andI'm so thrilled to know that there are still places like Victory Lakes where older folks and those who love them can feel safe and cared for well. Thank you so much for being the Christian community that you say you are. Please don't ever change. We need more places and people like you in the years to come. "

"My parents moved into Charter Senior Living of Kenosha. We chose this facility because it was much better, brighter, and had more to do. They could stay together in the same apartment and bring their cats. We love the staff, the brightness and size of the apartment, and the dining room. The staff are very kind and helpful to them, and they make them laugh every day. I prefer a nicer restaurant, but I'd say maybe a four for them. The structure is very beautiful, and it was very clean. They always go on different trips, like to grocery stores and casinos. They also do social activities such as ice cream socials and games on a regular basis. They have a lot of space for the two of them, for two people living there. Their layout is different from the other apartments because theirs was converted from two apartments into one. So, their layout is very nice."

"Wynwood of Kenosha was a really nice place. The rooms were very nice, newly remodeled, and spacious. We ate there once and the food was excellent. The place was very clean. My mom didn't go there, but that's where we wanted her to go. "

"Mom has a lovely room with a great view. She is well taken care of and the staff seems to genuinely care. Even though there are many activities, she chooses not to participate and is very happy in her room. They make sure that she has her meals, medications and take care of her cleaning. She prefers to be at ‘home’ at Story Point because that’s where she is most comfortable. Caretakers and nurses are all concerned and caring."

"The immediate feeling of this facility was that the location was optimal for our family and the grounds were well kept and relaxing. This was especially important for my grandmother's often day to day condition and the relaxing atmosphere facilitated more "good" days than "bad" and made her "bad" days less severe. The staff was knowledgeable and very accommodating, showing my family every aspect of their facility showing fully transparency of their operations. We immediately felt safe and welcome amongst the staff and fellow residents who seemed in good spirits and well cared for. We were shown the rooms, dining facilities, recreation areas and, most importantly, their state of the art medical facilities, which was an important concern for us. Our only minor complaint was that the room appointments were rather bare, but with a little tender love and care could be made more comfortable for my grandmother who has always been use to a very homely atmosphere. "I've had a very positive experience with Victory. The personnel have been both responsive and eager to meet my aunt's needs. She has had only good experiences with the nursing staff, the admin people, the front desk, the beauty shop, and the cleaning and maintence personnel. She has even started to join in some of the on-site activities, which range from educational type activities to entertainment and social events. She hasn't yet taken any of the many trips that are available, but I'm hopeful that she will. She likes her studio apartment and, generally speaking, likes the food. Not an easy approval since she was a restaurant owner. "

"Brookdale was very nice and expensive. Mom only lived there for a year, and the apartments were gorgeous. They had like a rainforest in the middle of it, and she looked out over the rainforest. The dining and the food were very nice. They had things for the residents; they do little parties and bingo. They did have a swimming pool and waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. It was just too expensive. "

"It was the place that I liked the most. It felt like you were at a home. It was like you were going into a big house versus going into a facility. It seemed more comfortable and homelike. The staff was nice, friendly, pleasant and enjoying what they were doing. I liked the open setting with the kitchen because they were preparing food in the kitchen, and the people could sit and watch them. I did not try the food, but it smelled good, and the person preparing the food had been doing it for a number of years. "

"My father was at Radford Green. I thought it was very good. We did not have any complaints. I thought the level of care was good. He was always well taken care of. He was fed, dressed, and cleaned well. He was only there for seven days. They had very nice, beautiful, well-appointed rooms. The food was very good. There were lots of things on the menu, and you could even eat in your room or the dining room. The kitchen had 24-hour availability, so family members could just walk to the kitchen area and get any snacks, cold drinks, or anything else for their loved ones. My father did some therapy, walking, and exercises. "

"My sister was living at Ciel Senior Living of Long Grove. It's very clean and very friendly. Their approach was excellent. Their food was sufficient, but it could use a variety. My sister's room was more than adequate. It's a nice size. She was in one with a bedroom, a front room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. They did Scrabble and bingo, and they went out for lunch."

"My wife was a past resident of Belmont Village. They were understaffed, so residents helped other residents. The facility was clean, the carpets were clean, and there weren't any odors. The activities program was good, and they had a music program and live entertainment program every Friday and Wednesday. The maintenance and cleanliness were good. "
