"The directors at Robin Way are very friendly, accommodating, and answered a lot of my questions. I've read good reviews about them and the woman that runs the apartment where my mom was staying had good things to say about them. The care seems excellent. The food is pretty good. She always has two choices, and they're aware of her food allergies. She's able to continue physical therapy. She's gone from having to be in a wheelchair to walking pretty good distances with a walker. Her PT person will try her on a cane this week. She's making progress. They have an art class, and they've gone out shopping on their bus. She's being more active and more social. It seems like a good place."

"My husband stayed here for a week. The staff members were awesome. They took care of my husband. His room was very efficient for him. He didn't need any extras in the room because he would get into them, like lamps, extension cords, and anything like that. They cleared all that stuff out for me. They left his TV on the channel that he liked and took the remote control out of there. They did everything that I asked them to do, so that he would be comfortable and not hurt himself or do anything. They had activities every day for him. They would keep him up to date with what was going on and happening in the world. They would also do different games to keep them active. They had music. The grounds were very nice."

"Mom has a lovely room with a great view. She is well taken care of and the staff seems to genuinely care. Even though there are many activities, she chooses not to participate and is very happy in her room. They make sure that she has her meals, medications and take care of her cleaning. She prefers to be at ‘home’ at Story Point because that’s where she is most comfortable. Caretakers and nurses are all concerned and caring."

"My mother is in Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes. We chose it because one of her neighbors moved in there. We haven't done much decorating other than the furnishings. She's in a studio with assisted living. It's roomy enough to put her bed and a table and dressers. It's nothing huge. One of the aspects that we liked about it is it kind of looks like a hotel more so than a nursing facility. It seems to be well-kept. The Hawthorn Mall is down the street. It could be walkable if you're mobile enough. They play some games and stuff and have other people come in and do presentations. They have bingo and various card games. There's a living room that has all the stuff. We're basically on the assisted living side, so there weren't as many things as you may have on the independent side. They have a hairdresser there, that type of thing. The independent side has their own dining area and then the assisted living has theirs and they seemed to be spacious enough. They serve the food to the table. The staff is pretty good. They're very friendly. Now and again, we have little things that happen, but for the most part, they've been very good. it's not like a five-star hotel downtown or something like that, but they do a very good job of maintaining it. The reason that we've been looking for someplace now is because we've been there for ten years, and the cost has gone up as a percentage each year. Otherwise, we seem to be getting our money's worth out of it, but it's starting to look expensive."

"Victory Centre of Vernon Hills was good. I liked the facility. I liked the people. What I liked least is the distance from 60022. It's a little far, which is 17 miles. The staff was very good. I saw the dining room, that's all. What happened was they called me back after interviewing my wife and said she was not a fit. I was disappointed."

"I toured The Cottages of Fox Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care. I liked it very much. It seemed very homey. The rooms were a little bit bigger, but they were unfurnished. He could bring his little refrigerator and TV. It had a sink and everything in the main room, which was very nice and clean. The bathroom was very clean. They accommodated showers, which is important. It seemed homey, and it was all on one level. They had a couple of different cottages. They all hooked up, although they had a memory unit. The memory one would be where my boyfriend would want to go. Allie showed me the place. She also has contacted me a couple of times afterwards to see if I'm still interested, and I've asked her a few more questions. Everything there was very nice, but it was just the price. They also said they would accommodate his diet since he has a special diet. He can only eat certain foods."

"I toured Sunrise of Buffalo Grove. It was excellent, but also much shorter in one room. There was one room that had furniture in it. I saw the model of what they said would fit for my mom right now. That's all I looked at. I didn't get their layout, and I didn't get a calendar of their activities. They told me about what they do; that there's doctors and staff. They have much more things available too. They have immediate care and staff, 24 hours. They have more nurses on staff, doctors come in once a week, and there's physical therapy. Everything that you need. They have life alert. They come check on you and do medication management. There's the food in the restaurant area; you go down three times a day. She did say that they have an afternoon snack down there. There's activitities, but I didn't physically get to see a calendar. I'm not sure what they do, but yesterday I got a folder with the menu and a calendar of everything for the month. It's very cozy."

"It was the place that I liked the most. It felt like you were at a home. It was like you were going into a big house versus going into a facility. It seemed more comfortable and homelike. The staff was nice, friendly, pleasant and enjoying what they were doing. I liked the open setting with the kitchen because they were preparing food in the kitchen, and the people could sit and watch them. I did not try the food, but it smelled good, and the person preparing the food had been doing it for a number of years. "

"I gained a new family by meeting great people. Beautiful grounds with individual apartments, offers something for everybody. You can close the door and enjoy your apartment or join the many activities. Everyday there is a new activity that pops up. For example there is a workshop that many men and women can participate in, a full library and so many more fun things to do."

"Radford Green took great care of my mom The rooms had beautiful views and my mom had a private room. The care was excellent and very attentive, the place was very clean, warm and friendly. Highly recommend."

"My sister was living at Ciel Senior Living of Long Grove. It's very clean and very friendly. Their approach was excellent. Their food was sufficient, but it could use a variety. My sister's room was more than adequate. It's a nice size. She was in one with a bedroom, a front room, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. They did Scrabble and bingo, and they went out for lunch."
