"My wife moved to the Independence Court of Hyattsville. They take good care of them. In the morning they help her get dressed and bathe and so forth. Then she goes about her day and she has lunch at a particular time and dinner at a particular time. My wife has told me a number of times how much she loves the food. I tried some of it. The food is good. The rooms are clean. They clean it every day. They come in, gather her clothes, and put the dirty clothes in the hamper. They picked out what she was going to wear, and my wife loved it. The rooms are clean. They have a list of medications, and they make sure that you get that every morning, so everything is good. They have activities going on all day long and sometimes my wife will participate, but sometimes she doesn't feel like it. She just watches TV. They have individual games for them to play crosswords, and things like that to keep them busy. It's a little high, but I guess you get what you pay for."

"My Dad moved to Arden Courts of Silver Spring. I like the place. It's super clean and has good security. They have a mailbox and a library. He enjoys it, and I'm really happy with the place. I would highly recommend it to anyone whose loved one has some sort of memory issue. The staff was amazing. They love what they do, and they are about the residents. They offer music and arts and crafts. It is pricier than most, but it is worth the investment for the care that they provide. They have a very large outdoor space, but it doesn't look like it's fenced in, and it feels more like you're in a backyard at home versus in the courtyard of a medical facility. It feels like home."

"I toured Malta House. The woman there was very helpful with the tour. The room seemed nice. The people that were there seemed to be in good spirits. They were having a bingo game, and people seemed happy and laughing. They had a nice courtyard. The rooms seemed nice, but it's a little small. The whole place was clean and well taken care of. The courtyard was a little disordered, but not in a way that seemed like off or out of place. It has a nice fountain and a good environment."

"Sunrise of Chevy Chase was a Marriott hotel that was purchased and converted into an assisted living facility. It was very modern, very open, and had a lot of really nice windows, perhaps a little bit more like a luxury nine-floor assisted living facility. The rooms were very nice size, too. They had a really nice menu option that was posted for the day. They had really nice things to say about the chef for that location. The dining rooms were very spacious. They were much larger given the floor space available."

"I visited Willow Manor at Colesville. I liked everything. I was very amazed. They were very open to showing me the facility. They gave me all the information, and I also saw the library, the place where we can receive visitors, and the laundry. They showed me the apartment. It was a great experience, and I would like to live in that community. I think that would be a good place for me and my husband. They have an elevator, and I can use a wheelchair or my husband can use a walker to walk in. They told me that if he needs some bars, they can add the bars to the bathroom. The staff was very friendly, very kind, and very professional. The facilities were all secure. You need to register, and I feel very confident. Anybody who lives there will be very confident. I can recommend the place even for a loved one. The structure of the building was very adequate for everybody. It's very well designed, very neat, very clean, and very organized. I also saw the parking space. The room was a good size. I only saw the two-bedroom, but it was perfect. It had a good layout, where they had the living room and everything, and the closet."

"The facility is very clean and orderly. Mrs. Ada is on top of everything from communicating with resident doctor and medications administered. The staff is very nice and attentive to residents. Everyone is really concerned for residents and very respectful. My brother enjoys being there. His health has improved. I appreciate them. "

"I like that Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living caters to individuals who live there. I'm a football freak, and they said, 'We don't have a football group, but I'm sure that a lot of people would be interested in joining it if you wanted to start this kind of thing.' They have raised gardens that are waist-high. They had some people who had no idea how to do gardening, so they teamed them up with those who knew. We had had a huge snowstorm; however, the person who was supposed to do their snow plowing didn't show up. So Wilshire Estates went out, including the owners, and shoveled sidewalks so that people could drive in without issues. That impressed me. They not only cared for the people who live there, but they also cared for their employees. They provide everything. The only thing I would have to do is pay for my own phone and wash my clothes. If you can't wash your clothes, they have people that will do it for you. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lunch is the biggest meal, and at dinnertime, they usually have sandwiches or something light. I seemed to connect with the person who was selling the place. Even though it was expensive, I was impressed. The unit that I was looking at had just been vacated. The staff said they would clean everything from top to bottom, and when they become available, they would do upgrades, too."

"I toured Modena Reserve at Kensington. It was beautiful. It was open and light. I liked the restaurant set up for the dining. It was very pleasant. They had a lot of activities, and the rooms were nice. Everything was great. The staff was wonderful, very pleasant, and very helpful. They had a lot of lectures. They had music, physical therapy, and other therapies in the building."

"My wife has advanced Alzheimer's and occasionally I have taken her to Arden for a week or so while giving myself some "respite" time. I have been extremely pleased and impressed with the care she receives there. As a facility devoted only to memory care patients (rather than the larger assisted living with a lockdown memory care' floor model), Arden and its staff at every level seem completely dedicated to the concerns of patients like my wife. In my various dealings with the staff, I have been impressed with how competent, caring, and solicitous they seem to be. If and when the day arrives when my wife needs round the clock care, I would be looking to Arden."

"Visionary Square was beautiful, but it didn't feel personal. It was too strict. I like to have the feeling that I feel protected, and I didn't feel that from there. The room was beautiful, and my granddaughter loved it, but to fit in a setting like that, it's gonna cost me money. If you want to study outside your room or if you don't want people to come into your room, you could sit out in the hallway. It was clean. The staff was honest enough to say that they have all types of people. I could be next to a mentally ill person. I respected that because most people only want to tell you the best of everything, and then you get in and find it's not like that. It's a very nice district. There are stores everywhere. They said they didn't offer much. I asked them if they had a gym room and things like that. She said no, but they were thinking about doing something like that or having different vendors come in."

"Angel Assisted Living, LLC seemed like a nice house. Their room was nice. There was a bathroom off of the room. The residents looked happy. It seemed like there were a lot of nurses and people working there. I didn't have anything negative to say about that place. I liked it. The people there were nice. When I spoke to Angel, she was pleasant and answered questions that I had. The residents were very talkative to me, which means they were happy. They were very pleasant residents. Their dining area had a large kitchen with big tables for eight and chairs all around it."
