"My mother was at Hillhaven in both skilled nursing and, later, assisted living. We found the staff to be very attentive and caring. I was personally impressed by how each of the staff members felt empowered to help you with your need - even if it wasn't their specific area of work. I have worked in multiple hospitals and have visited many nursing facilities, Hillhaven is one of the best!"

"My husband was only there at Sunrise of Chevy Chase for 30 hours. They were wonderful. The staff was very, very attentive and very caring. The director of nursing was incredibly attentive, caring, and helpful. He needed a lot of assistance, and they were all very kind and very nice. I have nothing but good things to say about them. It just didn't work out. If he didn't have his issues, it would have been a five-star. It's only the administrative part that I might have issues with. Just in that short time, they had a very nice Sunday brunch that the family was welcome to be involved in. My daughters and I had brunch there with him. The day that I checked him out, I saw that they had residents in their dining area participating in a sort of trivia contest. There was someone there engaging them in a fun game. I could see the staff greeting people by name, and they were very, very friendly. They had movies every week, and they seemed to have quite a number of activities for the residents."

"I like Sunrise on Connecticut Avenue better because they offer more, and they have more 1-on-1 care. Others would have like 20 people to take care for 1 person. The room was clean and roomy like a nice apartment. The grounds were kept nice and clean. They have exercise, and I think they call it jazzercise. They also have pottery, drawing classes, and swimming. However, one thing they didn't have was a sauna or a jacuzzi. The pool water was cold, so for somebody with arthritis, they couldn't get into the water."

"The inside of Sunrise is designed to not look like a facility at all. It looks like a living room and all the nurses’ stations has furniture, so it doesn’t look like you’re in a facility when they’re taking care of you. I’ve seen their dining area, and they seemed very up to speed on nutrition for geriatric population. They take them out on field trips on a bus to go look at the turning leaves, see the winter lights, and see monuments. "

"Care Personnel Healthcare Inc. was very clean and very up to date. The person who showed me around was quite knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She gave me a meal plan for a month for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I thought it was very healthy. The grounds were beautiful. There was a nice deck. There are some shared rooms, but the one I saw was a private room, which would be the room that my husband would be in. They have scheduled activities every day. They go on trips, they go outside, and they have game days. There is a TV in every room. There is a nice family room spot that opens up into the deck, so it's quite spacious. The only thing I was concerned about was that there are a lot of steps to get up to the house, so I was kind of concerned about how he would navigate that, or how they do that."

"My father moved into Chevy Chase House a few days ago. The quality of care and services that you get for the price is much better than any of its competitors that I've seen. The facility is compact and clean. It's more vintage, built in the 1900s. And I think they lean into that, which makes the residents a little more comfortable as far as the decorations and how they have all things set up. The staff has been excellent. The food is incredible. Chef Peter is very talented and very passionate. He oversees a lot of wonderful meals for the residents. They have movies every night. They have guest speakers and live music. They have activity groups, like reading clubs, game clubs, and puzzle clubs. "

"I lived near here, so I've known of it for a while. The staff was very nice. Their dining area was fine. The room was not spacious, but it was fine. It was adequate. Overall, the facility was very nice."

"Resilient Care Assisted Living was very clean and the people were very friendly. They showed me the shared rooms and the private rooms. They were small but adequate. The dining area was pretty nice. It had a table where residents could eat together if they wanted to. They also showed me the decks where they can sit outside in the patio area."

"We did an in-person tour of Brighton Gardens of Friendship. We liked the facility, we liked the location very much. The negative there was the food didn't look very good, they had it out on display for lunch, and it did not look all that appetizing. The staff was great, the staff that we met were fabulous. The apartments are very spacious. They seem to have all the types of care you would need."

"Modena Reserve at Kensington was very nice. It was located close to restaurants, but it was just a very expensive place. The staff was very nice, and it was nice of them to refer me to something in the price range that my brother needed to be. She didn't try to push me away, she just tried to accommodate me even though she knew it was way over what we could afford."
