"I was here and they are very nice. They had nice lectures and wonderful activities. The problem is that they area inhabited by older people and I'm tired of living with older people; they are mean. With regards to the staff, I didn’t like that they would come in to my room at night to give me my pill. I feel it's a transgression of my living space. These sort of things is something you can't find out by visiting the place by just being in the lobby or dining room as such. You have to be in the facility to know what it's like."

"My wife and I are living in The Lewis 62+ independent living community. It's a brand-new and secure building. We are in a 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment and we have a dishwasher, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The cable is also part of the rent. They have a washer and dryer facility on each floor. We have a room where you can go in and relax too. It has a pool table and stuff like that, and it's pretty nice. We make our own meals. I like their employees here, they're good."

"I like The Belnor Senior Residences very much. I like the amenities, the property highlights, and even the units. The kitchen was open and spacious. I like the floor plan, but they don't have enough closet space. The other features as far as the property is concerned, the laundry space and the fact that they have a community garden and greenhouse, I liked everything about it, even the reserved parking for the residents to make sure that we have enough parking. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The tour was very thorough. My questions were answered because there were just two features that I was interested in: the kitchen and the closets. You have to prepare your own meals."

"Cogir of Old Town, Alexandria was very nice. It's a little bit older and a little bit smaller than the other place, but they have the option of both my parents being in the same unit, so that was nice. The food was delicious. We had lunch there. We had nice conversations with people. All of our contact people have been very helpful. One guy resident was very friendly and nice. A lady came and talked to us at lunch just to say hi. It had a nice homey feel to it. They had a unit in the memory care that would have accommodated both of them, so we're considering. They have lots of nice common spaces. It's not a huge high-rise. It's only to the fourth floor, and there was a really nice patio, a big outdoor area on the fourth floor, on the roof basically. The staff was excellent. I was impressed with the chef. The rooms had a little bit less square footage. Everything was very clean and well-kept ."

"I toured The Sanctuary, a Mount Jezreel Senior Housing Community, and I like it. It is really good. It is nice and large. I like the floors, the bathroom, and the shower. I like everything. They put a new microwave in there. They have a lot of outdoor space. There is a huge parking lot that goes all the way around the building. It's got a lot of wood and stuff. It's really, really nice around there. I had an interview with them, and I paid the $35 application fee, and I was supposed to be getting a call back from them. It is like a private apartment, and so I guess you buy your own groceries and cook your own food. However, I'm pretty sure if you need some food that they will look out for you. The staff member who gave the tour was very respectful and very thorough with what he showed me."

"I toured Modena Reserve at Kensington. It was beautiful. It was open and light. I liked the restaurant set up for the dining. It was very pleasant. They had a lot of activities, and the rooms were nice. Everything was great. The staff was wonderful, very pleasant, and very helpful. They had a lot of lectures. They had music, physical therapy, and other therapies in the building."

"My 86 year old mother was at Chesterbrook Residences for 9 month before she died peacefully in her sleep from heart problems. She loved Chesterbrook Residences, her apartment, the people there who became her friends and the many diverse activities. I am so glad we found Chesterbrook Residences and we are only sorry we had not found it sooner!"

"Very nice facility. Includes independent living, assisted living and nursing care arrangements. Staff seem very helpful, and food in the dining room is good. Also, there are a lot of activities for the residents, including shuttle bus services to nearby cultural events as well as to churches and grocery stores. "

"I went to Victory Crossing in Silver Spring and spoke with the manager. They said you have to have a specific income that I don't have. I was able to tour their independent living community, and I like it. They were very nice and new. I think they built it in 2017. The staff was also very nice. They really want to give the spot to me, so it's not their fault. They also showed me the apartment and explained how everything works."

"My mother moved to Cogir of West End Alexandria's memory care. It's a very beautiful community. The attendance of the nurses is very helpful, and the support staff is very supportive. The director is very welcoming and very friendly. The buck stops with him. He takes action immediately if you need something. I haven't had a complaint, but in my experience of trying to get what my mother needed, I can see that he's very receptive and quick to implement what it was that she needed. The staff he gave me to deal with was also very receptive and very professional. I'm very pleased with them. My mother's room is good. I've seen the food and the menu, and they look very healthy. They have activity after activity. Every hour, they're changing and doing something with the people. They take field trips, art sessions, and music sessions. They do let the residents watch TV, but it's not a situation where they're sitting in front of the TV all day. When they watch TV, it's usually a movie in the evening. They don't have the time to watch TV during the day because they're moving them around to different activities."

"I found the Paragon Assisted Living Potomac House Communities for my father. It's a group home. He moved in and he loves it -- the best place he's ever lived. This was perfect for him. The staff is great, my father feels very special there, it's very small, only eight residents, so it's very individualized. It's like they really care. He has the same, consistent people all the time. They have a chef who comes in every day and prepares the food. It's a brand-new facility, it's not even a year old. It's well-maintained. They clean the room every day. They have nice, big, open hallways. They have minimal activities, and they could probably do better for people who have the ability to do stuff. They're a great alternative to a bigger facility."

"I am considering Resilient Care Assisted Living for my husband. The co-owner called me beforehand to make sure that I was still interested. The place is very, very nice. It's clean and feels brand new to me. I asked him if he had done the remodeling; he said no and that he bought it like that. He showed me what types of food they would be eating, and it looked good. He said it was all homemade food. The rooms were very clean and nice. My husband will be in a semi-private room, which is good. He would have his own area. They have a lift if they want to come downstairs to the common area. The kitchen was gorgeous."
