"We toured The Jefferson, a Sunrise community in Arlington, and we are getting a condo at their independent living community. I think three things stood out for us. They have a setup where we're going to go in as independent living, but they also have memory care and skilled nursing available on site, so if you need to do that transition, you can do it right there. The other factor was that we really like that area. It's an urban environment, you can walk around, and it's safe and quite pleasant. It also has restaurants, shops, and things that are fun to go to. The last point was that they have a lot of organized activities that sounded really interesting. The staff members were very helpful and patient. We had one remarkable lunch there, where we joined some people for lunch, and the gentleman we were sitting with was 100 years old and had just finished writing a book. That was quite impressive. They have limited outdoor space. They also have a pool, a hot tub, and there is an exercise area. They have equipment and trainers that you can use to learn how to use the equipment or to help you with physical therapy."

"I liked it a lot and if they're still in business in a couple of years, I think that's where I would end up. The lady who gave the tour was lovely. They had everything anybody could ever want and they all seemed in good shape. Everything seemed lovely. I saw the gym, the swimming pool, and the exercise facilities. I saw the rooms where they had functions, the card room, and the library. I pretty much saw everything."

"I saw The Lewis Apartments. They were excellent. They had very nice apartments. Actually, they would have been my first choice if my father were looking for an apartment, but he told me that he would prefer to have a room. They hadn't confirmed the tour with me at all, so it was not a good day for them. They were having internal meetings that day, but the person there gave me more of a general tour since I had come, and what she was able to show me was very nice. There was a lot of space and a lot of different and separate areas that the residents could use, like a party room and things of that nature. The residents themselves would organize outings. The facility itself was nice, clean, and roomy. The staff was very cordial. She spent her time explaining things to me. She gave me information on how it was run. They're affordable, and they will help you with acquiring funds if necessary, which makes it even more affordable."

"I like The Belnor Senior Residences very much. I like the amenities, the property highlights, and even the units. The kitchen was open and spacious. I like the floor plan, but they don't have enough closet space. The other features as far as the property is concerned, the laundry space and the fact that they have a community garden and greenhouse, I liked everything about it, even the reserved parking for the residents to make sure that we have enough parking. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The tour was very thorough. My questions were answered because there were just two features that I was interested in: the kitchen and the closets. You have to prepare your own meals."

"I like Cogir of Old Town, Alexandria. They have the same types of amenities. I was looking for what would be a good fit for my brother. He is a veteran, and he would want to talk to other men and that kind of thing, and it was good. It was very nice. Their apartments have microwaves and mini fridges. They have a good amount of storage. They have call buttons. They have a theater area and sitting areas on each floor. People could gather on the floor with the TV there. There are snacks available all day. They have free meals and restaurant-style dining. There is a patio, too, and everybody has been very nice."

"I toured The Sanctuary, a Mount Jezreel Senior Housing Community, and I like it. It is really good. It is nice and large. I like the floors, the bathroom, and the shower. I like everything. They put a new microwave in there. They have a lot of outdoor space. There is a huge parking lot that goes all the way around the building. It's got a lot of wood and stuff. It's really, really nice around there. I had an interview with them, and I paid the $35 application fee, and I was supposed to be getting a call back from them. It is like a private apartment, and so I guess you buy your own groceries and cook your own food. However, I'm pretty sure if you need some food that they will look out for you. The staff member who gave the tour was very respectful and very thorough with what he showed me."

"I toured Modena Reserve at Kensington. It was beautiful. It was open and light. I liked the restaurant set up for the dining. It was very pleasant. They had a lot of activities, and the rooms were nice. Everything was great. The staff was wonderful, very pleasant, and very helpful. They had a lot of lectures. They had music, physical therapy, and other therapies in the building."

"My 86 year old mother was at Chesterbrook Residences for 9 month before she died peacefully in her sleep from heart problems. She loved Chesterbrook Residences, her apartment, the people there who became her friends and the many diverse activities. I am so glad we found Chesterbrook Residences and we are only sorry we had not found it sooner!"

"I toured Maplewood Park Place for independent living, and the staff gave us an excellent tour. She took us into one of the bedrooms that I'm interested in, and we didn't have anything negative to say about that. Overall, the place was excellent and the gal who gave us the tour was great and very, very friendly. They have a sunroom and a 1-bedroom, and some of the rooms had a den. We were there on a Saturday at lunchtime, so there weren't many activities going on but we saw a lot of the residents coming out for lunch. The gal taking us around always would introduce us to them. In terms of amenities, they have everything and they offer everything. They have a gym, and they have various trips you can take where you just sign up on the sheet, and she mentioned to us that they have three meals a day if you choose. The staff that I met were all very pleasant."

"I went to Victory Crossing in Silver Spring and spoke with the manager. They said you have to have a specific income that I don't have. I was able to tour their independent living community, and I like it. They were very nice and new. I think they built it in 2017. The staff was also very nice. They really want to give the spot to me, so it's not their fault. They also showed me the apartment and explained how everything works."

"My mother moved to Cogir of West End Alexandria's memory care. It's a very beautiful community. The attendance of the nurses is very helpful, and the support staff is very supportive. The director is very welcoming and very friendly. The buck stops with him. He takes action immediately if you need something. I haven't had a complaint, but in my experience of trying to get what my mother needed, I can see that he's very receptive and quick to implement what it was that she needed. The staff he gave me to deal with was also very receptive and very professional. I'm very pleased with them. My mother's room is good. I've seen the food and the menu, and they look very healthy. They have activity after activity. Every hour, they're changing and doing something with the people. They take field trips, art sessions, and music sessions. They do let the residents watch TV, but it's not a situation where they're sitting in front of the TV all day. When they watch TV, it's usually a movie in the evening. They don't have the time to watch TV during the day because they're moving them around to different activities."
