"I've moved into the Belnor Senior Residences. I love this community. I've met a few people here, and everyone that I've met has been very friendly. Even just walking by, going in or out the door, the people are very friendly and make eye contact and say hello. I've had no problems in my apartment. I love it. It's great. It's perfect just for me. The staff that I have met were very pleasant. I've heard from other people that you got to watch this and watch that, but I haven't had any problems with them at all. They've been very pleasant and easy to talk to. They had a poetry reading on Saturday. On Sunday, people do basically whatever they want to do, but some of us get together and have dinner together. It's like a potluck. There are some of us that play cards. Some of us do line dancing. Every Monday morningthere's a coffee social. There's bible study, listening to music, playing cards, and there's Pokeno. I'm having a good time. We prepare our own food, but there is a food bank that comes here whatever day they pick, and they will bring food for whoever needs it."

"The Landing Alexandria is good. My parents have a nice view. It's a very clean, nice facility, but it also costs $11,000 a month. They have a one-bedroom apartment. They have everything there. You can get massages, you can get your hair done, and you can get your nails done. You could do it all if you have the money. They have a courtyard, a penthouse, a very nice game room, and a very nice dining hall. They're getting what seems like fair market value for what they're paying when I compare them to everything else. The reason I chose this place over some others is because the timing was right, and it's close to where I live."

"I toured The Lewis Apartments. It's close to where I'm at now. I know where everything is. I'm allowed two vehicles, and it's closed to the public. The only way you can get in is through a keypad, or somebody will let you in. They have 24-hour security. Everything I saw, I liked, and it's a fairly new building. It's only three years old. I only met one lady who took me on the tour. She seems to know her job. She talks very nicely. I saw some staff members moving around the place, but I didn't do that as far as coming in contact and talking to them. She told me they have a 24-hour staff to be there."

"My mother moved to Cogir of West End Alexandria's memory care. It's a very beautiful community. The attendance of the nurses is very helpful, and the support staff is very supportive. The director is very welcoming and very friendly. The buck stops with him. He takes action immediately if you need something. I haven't had a complaint, but in my experience of trying to get what my mother needed, I can see that he's very receptive and quick to implement what it was that she needed. The staff he gave me to deal with was also very receptive and very professional. I'm very pleased with them. My mother's room is good. I've seen the food and the menu, and they look very healthy. They have activity after activity. Every hour, they're changing and doing something with the people. They take field trips, art sessions, and music sessions. They do let the residents watch TV, but it's not a situation where they're sitting in front of the TV all day. When they watch TV, it's usually a movie in the evening. They don't have the time to watch TV during the day because they're moving them around to different activities."

"We toured Potomac Place Assisted Living and Memory Care. I enjoyed the home-like atmosphere. I did not feel like I was in the hospital or any type of health care setting; I felt like I was at home. It was a place that was caring. The staff who assisted us during the tour was wonderful. I like the restaurant-style dining. The rooms were adequate. The atmosphere was positive and home-like. They can improve on mental health care though."

"We toured Golden Rule Plaza, and I liked everything. It's a secure building. The apartment complex was very clean. They have laundry facilities on every floor. The kitchen and the bathrooms were humongous and already set up for safety care, like with the safety bars for the elderly, and wheelchair accessible. The apartment was very well-lit, and sunlight came through the windows. Their appliances were upgraded and very nice. Everybody's door has a doorbell. It's just beautiful. The area is perfect because you're minutes from everything: the bus line, shopping, and grocery stores. It's right next door to one of the largest and oldest churches in Washington, D.C., and it's across the street from a library. You can't get any better than that. It's worth the pay. The range of the rent is perfect. Naomi was nice and wonderful. She showed us the one-bedroom, which was very nice and spacious, and the laundry facilities. She was very knowledgeable and great. Everybody was just wonderful. They were very nice and kind. They have ample parking, a nice parking lot, and a circular driveway. All the handicapped vehicles have MetroAccess, which comes right through the door and picks you up. They have a wonderful lobby sitting area and a sitting area on every floor, and they have vending machines on every floor as well."

"My brother is a resident of the House of Lebanon. I've been there several times and I have no complaints about that at all. He doesn't get the food. He cooks his food. He thoroughly likes the activities. He said he has no plans of going anywhere else. He's going to stay right there. So, it's working out for him. The staff has been very nice to him. His room is a nice size, and they're improving the community."

"Visionary Square was beautiful, but it didn't feel personal. It was too strict. I like to have the feeling that I feel protected, and I didn't feel that from there. The room was beautiful, and my granddaughter loved it, but to fit in a setting like that, it's gonna cost me money. If you want to study outside your room or if you don't want people to come into your room, you could sit out in the hallway. It was clean. The staff was honest enough to say that they have all types of people. I could be next to a mentally ill person. I respected that because most people only want to tell you the best of everything, and then you get in and find it's not like that. It's a very nice district. There are stores everywhere. They said they didn't offer much. I asked them if they had a gym room and things like that. She said no, but they were thinking about doing something like that or having different vendors come in."

"I found the Paragon Assisted Living Potomac House Communities for my father. It's a group home. He moved in and he loves it -- the best place he's ever lived. This was perfect for him. The staff is great, my father feels very special there, it's very small, only eight residents, so it's very individualized. It's like they really care. He has the same, consistent people all the time. They have a chef who comes in every day and prepares the food. It's a brand-new facility, it's not even a year old. It's well-maintained. They clean the room every day. They have nice, big, open hallways. They have minimal activities, and they could probably do better for people who have the ability to do stuff. They're a great alternative to a bigger facility."

"We like Resilient Care Assisted Living because it was clean and the staff was very friendly. Even the residents that were there, seemed very lively like they enjoyed being there, and the residents have a good relationship were with each other. You can get a good sense of that. When we went to tour the place, everyone just seemed to have very good energy. And we also liked the fact that they have activities for the residents. Also, the owner is a nurse and both of the owners seemed very dedicated to what they do. So that's why we're going to choose that particular site. One of their common areas is a TV room, they have a nice backyard, a nice patio, or a large deck area for the residents to go on. They do trips for all the residents and take them to things like bingo nights and different events."
