"My mother is in Resilient Care Assisted Living. The care that they provide is excellent, and I'm very happy with it as of right now. They have all types of board games and activities to try to stimulate their minds, but as the weather is breaking, they may be able to take them outside for exercise. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and she seems to like it. She's always complimenting the food, so that's good. She seems to be comfortable in her room, and she says it's nice. She has a semi-room, and she likes her roommate. The staff is pretty good."

"I toured The Lewis Apartments. The location and the whole complex were very nice. It's a relatively new senior living facility. It was clean and quiet. The people I encountered were nice. I walked into the office and the apartments, and the residents greeted me. They were sitting in the lobby area. The manager greeted me, gave me the information about the apartment, and showed me the apartment. It didn't take long, but it was a nice, pleasant experience. They had general appliances, stainless steel. I preferred a gas stove, but they only had electric stoves."

"I toured Modena Reserve at Kensington. They give housekeeping, and your rent covers utilities and TV. The staff is good. They insist on not having lunch in the rooms, you had to go down the halls to the large dining room. It's $800 for meals for the month and you pay to park $75 a month. For the bus to take you anywhere, it has to be within ten miles. They also encourage individualized cooking. It's not a CCRC. It has assisted living, but not medical care. I also didn't like the fact that they were for-profit and so they were more expensive. The outdoor space is nice, big, and open."

"We toured Harmony at Enterprise and we liked the cleanliness and the overall appearance of the place. We visited the independent apartments and they looked nice, well-organized, and clean. The staff member was very nice, very informative, outgoing, and answered all of my questions. She told me who is going to be in the area in terms of providing support. She briefed me on all the amenities and the accessibility to everything that they had to offer. They talked about medical support. They talked about having people that could work virtually with my wife in terms of one-on-one based upon what our needs were. And they said they had 24-hour support. My only concern was that the apartment was a little smaller than I would have liked. The dining area looked nice, clean, and inviting."

"I've moved into the Belnor Senior Residences. I love this community. I've met a few people here, and everyone that I've met has been very friendly. Even just walking by, going in or out the door, the people are very friendly and make eye contact and say hello. I've had no problems in my apartment. I love it. It's great. It's perfect just for me. The staff that I have met were very pleasant. I've heard from other people that you got to watch this and watch that, but I haven't had any problems with them at all. They've been very pleasant and easy to talk to. They had a poetry reading on Saturday. On Sunday, people do basically whatever they want to do, but some of us get together and have dinner together. It's like a potluck. There are some of us that play cards. Some of us do line dancing. Every Monday morningthere's a coffee social. There's bible study, listening to music, playing cards, and there's Pokeno. I'm having a good time. We prepare our own food, but there is a food bank that comes here whatever day they pick, and they will bring food for whoever needs it."

"I got to visit Wilshire Estates Gracious Retirement Living. It was new, the lady I talked to was very nice and the place had a lot of things going on. They had new apartments, a good floor plan, good parking, and an easy-to-find location. They also had good choices that my friend could make about what he wanted, like if he wanted to fix his own meals he can, and if he didn't want to, he didn't have to. The staff we spoke to were caring and they took a lot of time with us. They did not know if we were going to be living there or not, and they just spent a lot of time answering questions and showing us around the place. They had more than he needs. They had lots of rooms, lots of games, and lots of exercises, so they had all that my friend would need. The facilities looked nice and brand-new."

"Maplewood is a nice community, it is clean, appears well run and has separate towers for independent and assisted living. They organize a fair number of event both in the facility but also in Washington DC (with transportation often provided for residents). This helps keep the place feel a bit more active than other senior living communities I have visited. "

"My dad moved into The Jefferson a few months ago. It's been great. It has lots of activities. So, he signed up for a lot of different clubs. He's connected with people and I feel it's been a huge improvement for him because he was living alone for 30 years. So, to now be with people is good for his mental health. He just seems a lot happier and he's more with it. I feel like he's sharper. So it's been great. My dad is in a one-bedroom, one-bath with a study, and it has a small balcony, and a lot of natural light. Each day when you look in the elevator, there's a full list of all the activities going on for the day. So they have things like swimming. They have a small swimming pool to do lap swimming or probably water aerobics. And then they have musicians who will come in and play. They have chair yoga. They bring in speakers to talk about things like I saw they had someone coming in to talk about a car-free diet. That means not driving so much. So, like how you could do urban design differently. They do trivia sometimes. They have a little pub that's in The Jefferson. So they have happy hour many nights. He's in a politics group. So they talk about politics once a week and he's in a theater group. So they do stage readings periodically. They have a schedule for the shuttles that will take you to the various grocery stores. And they also have a movie viewing room."

"The Landing Alexandria is good. My parents have a nice view. It's a very clean, nice facility, but it also costs $11,000 a month. They have a one-bedroom apartment. They have everything there. You can get massages, you can get your hair done, and you can get your nails done. You could do it all if you have the money. They have a courtyard, a penthouse, a very nice game room, and a very nice dining hall. They're getting what seems like fair market value for what they're paying when I compare them to everything else. The reason I chose this place over some others is because the timing was right, and it's close to where I live."

"We looked and it was a very nice facility. There was nothing that I didn't like about it. We didn't choose this one because it was farther for my sister, who is the person that is closest. I live in Rhode Island, and my sister lives in Annapolis, so it was just farther away. It was a fine visit, everyone was friendly, and there was no negative reason. The only reason we didn't choose this facility was the location."

"Access Care Assisted Living was clean and very open. I saw people working with other residents. Some were playing games and some were watching television. Everyone was out and about. No one was really laying in bed. The layout seemed to be positive. The rooms were clean and the manager was very knowledgeable. She answered all of my questions and was able to give me information on how much the cost for a single room and a double room would be. It was also well staffed and organized."
