"I looked at Chevy Chase House. The tour was very good. We sat and spoke about all the details of the facility and what it offers. We talked about pricing. We went and looked at a couple units. The staff had an example of a studio and a larger studio because that's what we were looking for. She was able to answer a lot of my questions. She was very helpful and very communicative. I appreciate her friendliness and straightforwardness. They offer bus trips down to the museums. She showed me the gym. They have movies. They're working on building a grill outside. It would be nice for families to come and have meals with their loved ones."

"I went to Victory Court Senior Apartments. It was very nice. The woman there was very pleasant. It was a nice visit. The general appearance is very clean and very quiet. Everything was just very spotless. I had a chance to meet one or two of the residents. They looked very content, as to be expected, slightly bored, but it was nice. The ladies in the office were very friendly and very informative. Most of the units have a kitchen, whether it's a small kitchen or a larger kitchen for the two-or three-bedrooms. They have a common area where they have get-togethers. The rooms are very simple. There are small islands in the kitchens. For the most part, very clean, very modern facilities. When you get to the two- and three-bedroom units, I think you can request that they have a washer and dryer. The amenities are really nice. Everything is very convenient. "

"I'm moving into Rainier Manor. The tour was great. The young lady, Malonya, helped me with the paperwork. She gave me a little walkthrough of the unit. They're very helpful professionals. She was very empathetic with my situation, and she just worked really hard. We looked at a one bedroom. The unit was clean. It looked like a new carpet had been put down, fresh coat of paint, it was good. It was a really nice little apartment. Appliances were included, oven, stove, refrigerator, and I believe I saw a microwave as well. They didn't have a meal program facility there, but there's plenty around the area to eat. I noticed that going in and out, there's plenty of places to eat around. I saw an exercise room, a piano room, lots of common areas for residents to sit down and talk, so all that was good as well. Secured building, it's good."

"The rooms are very spacious! I am looking for a 1 bedroom for just myself. I don’t want a lot of space, but rooms are great sizes. The area has almost everything you need shopping, dinning, church, entertainment, home improvement supplies,metro and parking. At the time I visited the building was quiet, I’m sure there are times when it’s not. But I live inside my apartment. That doesn’t bother me. I like the apartment. I’m still looking but this may be it!!! Take the tour!!!"

"I just moved into Hillside Senior Apartments. I pay $1160 a month. That's for independent living. All utilities are included. It's a nice place. It used to be a hotel at one time. The only thing I disagree with is they need more maintenance men. They only have one maintenance man here. The resident manager and the receptionist are good at trying to help everybody get situated, but they only have one guy who takes care of everything. The people in the office are trying to help and they try their best. Sometimes on holidays, they have things going on and they supply food for those things. They do activities sometimes maybe four or five times out of the month. They've got bingo, cookouts, dancing classes, and yoga classes. They have a gym room."

"I toured Golden Rule Plaza. I like that it was convenient to a lot of places that I could get to, like close to my church and grocery shopping. Also, the place was very nice. It was up-to-date. Everybody was friendly and knowledgeable. The structure is very sturdy and clean. The layout was very nice, and everything was very roomy. I felt like it was kind of bright and cheery."

"We looked at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center. It's two years old, so everything is brand new. It has nine-foot ceilings, so it's a very spacious feeling. They have a continuing education program that sounded very interesting. However, I probably won't be able to afford it. Nevertheless, the people working there were very friendly and knowledgeable about the place and what they offered."

"My mother moved to the assisted living facility of Resilient Care Assisted Living. She's staying at their Graystone Drive facility. They have three homes, and the one that she's at is Graystone. The one at Maiden Drive is one of their facilities and their headquarters. I like the facility itself. It's a beautiful, warm home, and doesn't look like an assisted living facility. It looks warm and cozy, well-decorated, and well laid out. She has a first-level bedroom, and I like that because she uses a cane, so going up stairs would be difficult for her. They do have an elevator in the home for those residents who live on the second floor, so I like the fact that, if for some reason she had to move to a different room on the 2nd floor, there would be an elevator facility to get her up to that level. I like the staff and I like the owners a lot. She was the first resident to move into this location because this has recently opened, and they immediately reached out to residents who are at one of their other locations and who they thought would be a good companion with her, to see if they were interested in moving there. Within a couple of days, they have another house resident that really blends well with my mother's personality, so my mother is happy and laughing, and having a good time. I haven't personally eaten there, but I was there while she was eating, and she was enjoying the food. Every time I talk to her, she always says she had a delicious breakfast or lunch or something else, so I know that she is enjoying the food. The place is very clean and accessible to restrooms. It's also easy to move from room to room. They have a nice deck, and my mom said she went out there one day when my nephew was visiting. It's a very nice open space type of layout. Personally, I think all assisted living care is high, but we had a lengthy exploration of other facilities, and I think my mom is getting the most value there for the same price. We looked at some that didn't come up to that level, and they were asking for the same amount."
