There was no place to park at The Leggett, but it was a nice building. It's a high rise. I think it's 12 floors. The lobby was also very nice. They even had a room on the main floor where if you wanted to have a party or something, you could rent that out (no charge) and slide the door for privacy. I liked that they had a washer and dryer. The one-bedroom was nice, too.

The Leggett is fairly new. It's a brand-new 16-floor building. Silver Spring is a very close knit-type, like a small, mini New York, and so I think they did a pretty good job of providing the needs of the senior citizens there. They have one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms, and I looked at their large one bedroom, and you can actually turn around and do some moving in there. It's not too small. They have one large walk-in closet, a nice little kitchen, and a nice bathroom. You could get a choice of a walk-in bathroom or a tub. It has a washer and dryer in there, which is much needed because I don't think we should take our clothes down the hall to wash the clothes of anybody else. That's a personal thing to me. The layout of the building is nice. The hallways were wide. They're bright. They go based upon the colors of the Earth, like the oceans, forests, and stuff like that, which is nice also. If you can't remember what floor you live on, just say the yellow floor, and they know where the yellow floor is. It sits in a cul-de-sac of apartments. They tore one apartment building down (which was an older senior living place) to put in another apartment building and it looks out towards the water. I don't know what water that is, but anyhow, you have a view on the 12th floor, and you can have boxes to grow veggies out there if you want to continue farming or growing flowers, and then on that same floor you have a great view of the Washington Monument. It's an excellent view. It is just beautiful. I like the settings and everything. On the fifth floor of the building they have a care unit run by a hospital. You can actually go there if you don't feel good, for the seniors this is good.

The Leggett was new. They just opened at that time, and only 5 people were living there. They showed me one apartment, and the layout was nice. They didn't have the gym and the swimming pool built yet. The staff who assisted me during the tour was very kind.

The Leggett was perfect. It was a senior place. You could look at the people and feel that they were my age and older. The apartments were very nice. I felt at home even if I don't even live there. I liked that they had a rooftop there. It was absolutely clean. It was comfortable. I would have given anything to be able to live there. I looked at a one-bedroom and the kitchen was beautiful. Everything was on one side and the tub was rather deep, but they had the railings around it right down to the toilet. It's like the push buttons that you could push with flush. It was perfect. I didn't find anything wrong with it and as I did the tour all through the building, the lady took me up and we went up to the top of the rooftop where the seniors planted their own flowers and stuff. From what I could see from the one bedroom unit that I was in, they had the stove, the microwave, and the washer and dryer in a closet (there was extra closet space, but when she opened it, it was like a washer and dryer). I was excited about it. When you walk into the building, they have a coffee-like setup where they have little gatherings for holidays. There was a whole big screen TV and a sink down there if you wanted to throw a party or birthday or something. The staff was very nice. The lady even got emotional. My son and I have been together forever and it's time for us to depart. I think that it kind of kind of got him a little bit, but I was going to be fine. There, you have your own space. You come and you go like you would if you were much younger folks. I feel comfortable there. They have a little health facility right next to it. It was just a beautiful place.

The Leggett was really close to where my husband and one of my sons live, which was a big appeal. It was also very close to the Metro and restaurants. They had a full kitchen. The negatives were that the rooms were very small. I could have probably managed their largest room, which was a bedroom with a den. They had a washer and dryer in each room, but you had to step over the tubs. There were no meals provided. The facility was brand new. They had a very expansive lobby. Right next door is an aquatic center that basically has a connecting door to the facility. And then Holy Cross Hospital will have a whole clinic there. Both the aquatic center and the clinic are open to the public. It would have been my second choice if I could have gotten a place with a den. The staff was great.

I have been here at The Leggett - Apartments for Seniors 62+ for two weeks now. It's quiet; I like that. I like the location. It's clean. The management staff are interested and involved. The building is brand new, and we are the first occupants of this building. They have not established activities as such. They don't have any right now. I just moved in, and I have a disability, so all my attention has been getting my stuff in and getting set up for myself. So, I haven't been that interested in amenities as such. We have mail and there's a place to socialize on the lobby floor, but that's about it. We're right next door to Montgomery County Recreation Center, but it's not open yet. So, it's brand new, too. My apartment is adequate. It's a bit on the small side for me. I like it because it is wheelchair accessible. I'm in a power chair, and I need a big bathroom and a shower without a tub. Those things are probably more important than all the things in an apartment that able-bodied people might find to be more important to them. But for me, the main thing is the bathroom and the bedroom. The living space outside of those two areas is adequate. It's a little bit on the small side though. Not everyone in the building has a balcony, but I have a balcony. However, to have some kind of activities here would be good. So that's the main thing. For elderly people, that would be good. There's not a lot they can do about it though. They are trying to get people in the building right now, so they haven't made activities yet.
