"My dad has moved in. It's a very nice small community in an urban setting with very caring staff. The meal is pretty good food. However, it was very, very expensive. They have a lot of activities. They might need more physical activities, but they have lots of different activities and lots of things to keep them going, so that's great. They have an exercise area but it's very small. It doesn't have outdoor space, but it's next to a lot of public trails. My dad's room is small but very nicely appointed and very clean."

"The owner of Care Personnel Healthcare Inc was very nice. The facility was very nice and well maintained. The residents were playing games when I arrived. They had a chef and activities scheduled. They had TV and games inside the hous,e and the employees would gather the residents and have them engage in games and keep them active. Pricing seemed to be competitive with the other homes."

"AlfredHouse has nine facilities, but my mom is going to be in a home with eight people as opposed to a big facility. This one is very nice, and just very perfect for her needs. Some people may need larger facilities with big TVs, big dining rooms, and things like that, but my mom has Alzheimer's, so I wasn't interested in paying all that money for the extra bells and whistles that she can't use. It's five minutes from my home, so that makes a big difference, because I visit a lot. The facility is small, it's not a big one, so the ratios are much better. It's like one person to four, and they only have eight people in the house. They have large homes, but I like that one because it is smaller, it's good one-on-one care. It's beautiful, it's a home that has a huge sunroom, it has a TV room, individual bedrooms, both single and double, and it's in a neighborhood. It's a cul-de-sac, and it's in the neighborhood, so you can go out walking and feel safe. It's a beautiful home. The staff is very friendly, and very caring to the patients that were there. Basically, it's a family-owned business, so a lot of the people who worked there were related to the owner, the original owner. I know that people come in and do exercise, music therapy, and memory therapy."

"My dad moved to An An Assisted Living II. Where he is now is a wonderful place. They take care of the residents there. I go and visit whenever, whenever I want to is fine. They keep you updated on what's going on. So I have nothing bad to say about it. The staff, I rate them a five, however, there is a language barrier. It's a house and there are five residents there. My dad is on a peg feeding only. They do have activities, but I think the youngest resident there is 90, so they don't use it so much."

"I moved to Abrams Assisted Living. The nurses check on you from time to time. They serve three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and two snacks today. They offer exercise, bingo, tie-dye, and stuff like that. The room sizes are very good. The staff is awesome. Today, we had hamburgers, at lunchtime we had liver, and at breakfast, we had sausage and eggs."

"The facilities were clean and the decor was very nice. I thought that the staff was very professional and seemed to do a good job. The residents seemed cheery and were of many different ability levels, which the staff seemed to respond to. There were many options for activities such as a trip to the Eastern Shore and movie nights. I was impressed that there's also a social hour every day. The only criticism that I have is that there seemed to be a number of different instructions to help my grandma with her specific needs, some of which were in conflict with one another. I think that my grandma will be happy there as she no longer has to take care of an entire house al by herself. The food at the facility also appears to be of good quality and healthy, nothing fried or too high in fat. "

"Apple Blossoms is the place where you want to place your precious loved one if they need a quiet environment with exquisitely attentive care. The patient, experienced nurses and the director provide individualized attention for each of the residents. There are homemade meals provided three times a day, with two snacks. Also, the director provides tailored additions, reflecting some of the resident’s preferences. Having the security of one’s own room within a pleasant house on a quiet street made the transition much easier for my beloved mother, helping her to end her days in that loving environment. Apple Blossoms places its emphasis on relationships, not fancy rooms. It is watchful for anything that might affect their health or comfort. "My mother moved into Chevy Chase House. It’s clean, modern looking, and the staff is very friendly. The dining area is clean, and the staff is attentive. They had a wine tasting activity, a Christmas party, and something for New Years. They have movie nights and exercise classes that are pretty full. Every day there’s something going on."

"I toured Brookdale Potomac for my mother. I thought it was beautiful. The rooms are kind of small. That was my only thing. But I did see an apartment that I thought my mother could live in. I only met one person, the executive director. He was very warm and welcoming. There were a couple of questions that he couldn't answer for me, but he got back to me. The rehabilitation unit did not have the equipment that my mom would need. I would have to purchase it, or they would purchase it, but it was not available there. So, I was wondering, since they don't have it, are staff trained to help a person on a Hoyer? Are they able to operate a Hoyer?"

"I was beyond horrified by this organization. If you care about your family member, stay far far away. The costs posted are grossly underestimated. For your money, you get the cheapest quality food, zero stimulation, extremely limited nursing oversight and horrendous management. These people have no understanding of dementia, nor do they provide appropriate training. They will skimp on what is provided to your loved one so they can line their own pockets. Their caregivers do all the cooking and housework, and have no time to engage with residents. "

"I think everything was excellent at Sunrise of Silver Spring. It’s a big facility. It seemed to be clean. There are lots of places to sit; you can sit outside or at the back. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms looked like what my sister needs. It was a very roomy place. We also went to the floor where people have dementia. The people there were just sort of looking around. That's because of their illness. The other floor looked like they were active. They were pretty friendly. Some of the residents spoke to me. One of the ladies said she organizes the bingo. "

"Bartholomew House is a very loving, caring, comfortable, and intimate place because it is small. It is a little bit more like a larger home, and it smells very clean. The food is good, and it has a great caring staff. They really feel that it is more than their job, and they put their heart and soul into the residents. It doesn't have the extra amenities that some people might like, but they are extra caring with the residents which is the most important thing to me. The staff just goes above and beyond what you would expect. They communicate with me, and they reach out to me. They take the lead in my dad's care very proactively. You would not have to worry about your loved one there. "

"Able Plus Assisted Living is a single-family home that's been converted into a forever home with like 12 to 15 residents. The rooms were very nice. They cook all the food. They have an in-house doctor who comes. They have a person that comes in and does activities twice a week. The staff was professional and courteous. I know they cook fresh."

"My sister has moved into Homecrest Assisted Living. She's only been there two nights, but everything has been positive up to this point. I find the place to be clean and well lit. The staff are friendly and have been there for a number of years, which is always an encouraging sign. The owner of the place is quite business-like and efficient, so I had no reasons to have misgivings at this point. The food smelled awfully good. The facility is well kept inside and out. I find nothing to be discouraged about. She participated in meals, watching TV together, and conversations, but no organized things to my knowledge. I've been there a lot, but I haven't been there so much in the evenings when those kinds of things would probably take place. I have no criticisms at this point at all."
