"My mother was a resident for a few weeks at Manor Care on Democracy Blvd., Bethesda. It was staffed by professional, pleasant, caring and upbeat caretakers. They paid attention to details that help promote health and healing, were kind and had a positive, supportive attitude. Rooms were large, airy and clean. There was a lovely outdoor garden for residents and visitors. The food was good. We felt that this facility was a good choice and that everything worked together to help my mother regain her strength and return home. "

"I was at Sterling Care Bethesda. The nurses were wonderful, but the aides leave something to be desired. There were some aides who were wonderful and there were some who were not so wonderful. They could improve on some of the foods, too. The food was kind of the same and it was dull. Sometimes, there were things that I just couldn't eat. The breakfasts were really bad. I need a carbohydrate that's sweet, and I never got that. However, the physical appearance of the facility was nice and very good. It was nice. There was a beauty salon, and a podiatrist came twice while I was there."

"I stayed at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. They lost my clothes. I think I was able to retrieve maybe three or four items after going over there several times and telling them I needed my clothes. The whole building is locked down. There are a couple of good people there who are dedicated to their jobs, but most of the people who work there don't pay attention to what they're supposed to be doing at the time. And a lot of them don't even have the knowledge that they should have for what they're doing. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. They never asked the residents anything about how they would like the food, or knew of certain suggestions. They often served it cold and late. They had bingo, and people went through it twice a week. They would have to do a complete overhaul of all of the staff. This place was called Manor Care Health Services, and it's just been taken over by an umbrella company called Promedica."

"People really seem to love this place and after a visit I saw why. The staff was dedicated and caring. Many of them work long hours to insure that the residents recieve quality care. The location is ideal in Upper NW , on the cusp of Bethesda/ Chevy Chase. The activities are not just the standard trips to the Dollar Store and buffett. The social events offer the residents to mix and mingle. At one point, they had therapeutic animals. TDuring my visit, the residents and staff treated me as if I were an old friend. What a warm feeling This is a great facility!! "

"Overall I am satisfied with the care I received at the Hebrew Home. The food was significantly better than the hospital I was discharged from. The staff encourages group dining to foster a sense of community. There are daily activities that I was allowed to attend. There are also many volunteers that come by to help with the activities or simply visit with the residents. I had my own room. It was quiet and well furnished, almost like a hotel room. The bathrooms were, of course, accessible.Each day I had a daily session of physical therapy and occupational therapy. The therapists were friendly, and the equipment was plentiful and not in bad condition. I would also be checked by a doctor daily to monitor my general health and the nurses tended to my surgical site (drainage, bandages, etc.)Visitors are allowed at any time, and the process is handled by a front desk on the ground floor. The residents live on the 2nd floor and above. "

"I would like to show appreciation to Oakview Rehab & Nursing center. Especially the Rehab!!! All the staff and nurses were very helpful!! "My aunt and I visited Fox Chase Healthcare. They provide rehab and recovery, hospice services, nursing services, and long-term care. They had everything on one floor. They had a recreation room, and individual rooms for the patients there. They posted a big calendar with daily activities. They also had on-site medical services so doctors and nurses were there too. It looks like they probably could take acute care because they had a lot of hospital equipment there. It was more like a place for people who were sick and needed acute care or some kind of special care so it wasn't a good fit for my aunt. The staff was very nice, pleasant, and friendly. A gentleman showed us around who was very knowledgeable and knew a lot about the facility. I think they are limited in how many patients they could take."

"My mother was a resident of Knollwood for many years. It is a "progressive living" facility with independent living, assisted living, and nursing care. I am familiar with five other facilities that my father-in-law has lived in and Knollwood is by far the best I have seen.The facility as a whole is large so has a lot of amenities that smaller facilities might not have - beautiful grounds, a guesthouse, a chapel, a small store, and a swimming pool among them. There are many activities and clubs. Knollwood was originally a home for the wives of military officers and WACs and there is still a strong military influence in the speakers, excursions, and activities. It is a pet charity for many Officers' Wives Clubs and other groups.My mother received excellent care in the nursing home section. She was always clean, never had a hint of a bedsore, and was watched carefully. The on-staff dietician supervises all residents' diets and observes their likes and dislikes as well as their need for assistance. I live 600 miles away so communication was very important. The quarterly care conference was conducted over the phone. I was called with questions and kept up-to-date on any changes in her condition.The only reason I did not give Knollwood five stars is because of staff turn-over. The aides and nursing staff is very stable but some of auxiliary staff especially the social workers turn over very quickly.I would recommend Knollwood. "

I came to you with a broken spirit, not quite sure if I was ever going to walk again.Your staff left me with no doubt that they were there for me to get on my feet once again. Your physical therapists had a determination to help me, regardless of howI fought the pain, that I have never encountered anywhere before. The therapists determination and positive attitude gave me the confidence I needed to walk on my own. I would personally recommend Methodist Nursing and Rehab for you excellent physical therapy programs and would rate you "above average", as a caregiving facility. My personal daily contact with your warm and friendly staff especially therapist Marta, gave me the opportunity to get my life back in order. Thank you again, and God bless everyone. "This facility, in northwest DC, is part of Sibley Hospital, but it has its own nursing home. It's on the edge of the city, with a wooded area all around. But its location near the crowded area of Georgetown means it can be hectic to get through; that can also be a benefit, since there are a lot of accommodations nearby. While it can be a little confusing to find your way to the skilled nursing area from within the hospital, there is usually a helpful staff member to help point the way. The place has a very upscale feel: very modern and new-looking, pretty and well decorated. Outside the rooms, there are nice sitting areas, as well as a separate dining area for residents who don't want to eat in their rooms. The food served seems appealing and there are many options available daily. The rooms, some private and some shared, are also very nice and appointed with attractive furniture. The place is well staffed"”and the staff members are very interactive, assisting with meals, engaging residents in conversation. There are scheduled activities daily. Many people assume the long-term nursing care is only for people who have been in Sibley Hospital, but it's not. Because it's located on a hospital campus, there is often an easy transition from hospital to skilled care, which is a plus for many residents. "

"When I visited the facility it was clean everyone was willing to help. the residents have their daily activites planned and from what I can see they are all pretty much independent. then I proceeded to another floor in the facility a little more hustle and bustle the resident was in their chairs in the hall waiting on there food tray a little agaitated the nurse would come over and talk to them like they really cared about what they thought they were going through(most of them thought they weren't going to get their food) this floor broke my heart and then the nurses were so completed intuned with the clients that it fixed it right back up theses nurses are very caring about the individuals that that care for. "

"My husband is in Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Wheaton. I don't have any issues. The staff is very attentive and I think he's treated well. They have a lot of activities. They have a calendar that they publish, but he doesn't attend because he's paralyzed on the right side, and he can't get out of bed. He shares a bedroom, and it's very large. They do the floors, and someone comes in and cleans every day. It's near a hospital and a shopping mall. They have a courtyard."

"I was at Potomac Valley for 4 weeks and i truly enjoyed every minute. I was given the best care and all the staff were just amazing. I received all the services i needed and was able to return home. I would truly recommend Potomac Valley to anyone who needs rehab services. I will miss all the staff dearly"
